25.01.2022 Great to be back again this year for the land use planning presentation. Slightly different circumstances this time around with an online lecture decided as the best course of action! A big thanks to The Piddington Society for the opportunity.

22.01.2022 ALLERDING & ASSOCIATES RESPONSE TO COVID-19 - UPDATE 2ND APRIL 2020: As the situation with COVID-19 further evolves, please be assured that our business continues to take all necessary precautions to protect staff, clients and colleagues in accordance with official advice. While we continue to maintain a ‘business as usual’ approach we have now moved to a management plan, which focuses on:... - An increase in employees working remotely, to safeguard their health and that of our clients and the wider community; - Retention of essential support staff in the office, under strict health and safety protocols; - Continued maintenance of strong client communication through mobile and online platforms; and - Continued priority on exceptional client services. We are working with clients on an ‘as needs’ basis to host meetings via Zoom and other platforms. Our resourcing and work commitments remain unchanged. 21.01.2022 The latest planning reform initiatives announced by Mark McGowan today

20.01.2022 https://www.canberratimes.com.au//home-built-for-bushfir/ An interesting example of one of the lucky homes which survived during a period of truly tragic bushfire activity on the east coast of Australia recently. This particular dwelling was constructed to withstand a flame zone (BAL-FZ) rating which is the highest construction standard under Australian Standard AS3959 (Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas) and demonstrates how higher construction standards ...can protect homes against the impacts of bushfire. In Western Australia, the package of planning reforms released in 2015 set out the requirements for development and construction in bushfire prone areas to help protect lives and property against the threat of bushfires. The highest permitted Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating accepted in Western Australia under the current framework is BAL29, meaning that additional management measures are required as part of new development to lower the radiant heat impact of bushfire. Allerding & Associates offers bushfire consultancy services with a focus on effective, risk-based land use planning and development to preserve life and reduce the impact of bushfire on property and infrastructure. We are well equipped to advise on construction standards and management measures for new development in bushfire prone areas and would be happy to discuss how we can assist with the needs of your proposal.

16.01.2022 It has been pleasing to see a number of our clients embrace well considered public artworks as part of their developments. Whether as a standalone artwork or as part of an integrated functional piece, the percent for art scheme has encouraged innovative and creative ways to incorporate artistic components into new developments. This in turn supports sense of place and improves amenity outcomes for streets and public spaces when done well. Lets hope the trend continues! https://www.abc.net.au//perth-to-become-australia/12292234

15.01.2022 The team at Allerding & Associates attended the Local Government Planners Association breakfast this week on the topic of Planning Reform for Better Places. Thanks for all involved in the presentations and panel discussions on the recent suite of amendments to the planning framework and insights into the role planners will play moving forward. #waplanningreform #planningwa #planningreform

14.01.2022 It was fantastic to see Pachamama Early Education & Childcare and Activity Centre officially open its Activity Centre extension earlier this month. We are proud to have assisted Pachamama in securing their planning approvals for this amazing facility and we wish them all the best into the future.

13.01.2022 We are very pleased to announce that our collaborative efforts with Sacred Heart College and Parry and Rosenthal Architects have resulted in gaining planning approval from the Metro North West JDAP for a new start of the art Technologies Centre for Sacred Heart College. Thanks to all of the project team involved. We are very appreciative of the guidance provided by the City of Joondalup staff in addressing matters raised by the Design Reference Panel.

12.01.2022 An interesting high level discussion today by a panel of industry leaders at the UDIA WA breakfast forum. Strengthening partnerships across Government; achieving community support for medium density infill whilst balancing amenity expectations; and a greater focus on outcomes rather than process were some of the key issues discussed today. It looks like we have work to do!

11.01.2022 State Government has announced a three stage plan to review Western Australia’s bushfire planning framework. The review is intended to address inconsistencies across existing bushfire frameworks, standards and mapping and is anticipated to be completed in late 2020. https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//New-action-plan-to-

09.01.2022 8 November is World Town Planning Day, a day founded in 1949 as a day to recognise and promote the role of planning in creating liveable communities. Tonight the Planning Institute of Australia is celebrating World Town Planning Day in Western Australia with an awards presentation to acknowledge quality, innovation and excellence in planning. Allerding & Associates is proud to be sponsoring the event this evening and our Director Steve Allerding will also be presenting an award in the awards ceremony. All the best to the nominated candidates!

08.01.2022 A number of pertinent topics discussed today at the Local Government Planners Association breakfast forum on ‘Planning Reform for Better Places - Local Government Impacts and Involvement’. From planning reforms and process efficiency to community engagement and the role of elected members in decision making, the panel offered some useful insights from both the public and private perspective, with good contribution from attendees too!

07.01.2022 While options to provide affordable housing for the over 55s market exist under the current Western Australian planning framework, we often experience resistance from Government for this form of development, particularly under leasehold arrangements. Working closely with housing providers in this market, we have experienced the current demand for these types of products, which will only become more vital in the years to come. Shouldn't we as planners be more focused on facilitating good quality, affordable housing options for over 55s not only in private ownership but also in rental arrangements? https://www.abc.net.au//older-australians-downsiz/11954726

06.01.2022 Quick trip to sunny Coral Bay. Cannot complain about a day at this office!

05.01.2022 Steve, Amanda, Tom, Patricia and Tracey are all back in the office. We hope you and your businesses are doing well in these challenging times.

04.01.2022 Thanks to all involved in pulling together yesterday’s seminar on the recently released Position Statement for Tourism Land Uses in Bushfire Prone Areas. The bushfire team at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage have been working hard on a number of changes to the current bushfire planning framework, including the Position Statement the subject of yesterday's presentation. The Position Statement takes a more flexible approach to achieving the Acceptable Solutions i...n the Guidelines for Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas, including the relaxation in some circumstances of the two points of access requirement. The position statement also adopts a risk assessment approach to assist decision makers in determining the appropriateness of tourism developments in the broader context of landscape scale bushfire risk. For any questions about how the new Position Statement may affect your development please feel free to contact one of our team to discuss further. #planningwa #bushfirewa #uws #bushfireplanning

04.01.2022 Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year from the team at Allerding and Associates. Thank you for your continued support throughout 2019 and we look forward to seeing you in 2020!

04.01.2022 Allerding and Associates are excited to announce the recent approval granted by the Metro Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel for a 245 lot park home development in Piara Waters. The decision concludes a long and hard fought approvals process on behalf of National Lifestyle Villages spanning over 8 years. We are very pleased with the outcome and would like to say a big thanks to the client and the consultant team for their contribution to the project. #approved #planningapproval #TownPlanning

02.01.2022 Allerding & Associates recently provided planning and bushfire consulting services in support of new facilities at the Peoples Park Coral Bay Caravan Park, which included obtaining planning approval for these two new ocean front cabins. It is great to see these new accommodation options now available for visitors to such a beautiful part of WA. Given the restrictions on overseas and interstate travel, facilities such as these offer a great incentive to travel and explore our amazing State. #tourismwa #travelwa #approved #townplanning https://peoplesparkcoralbay.com.au/two-new-ocean-front-cab/
