23.01.2022 #Repost Now this is a cool #FlashBackFriday image The two Zoom Recruitment backed #BMW #HP4's outside the San Diego BMW Motorcycles dealership in 2013 when the Next Gen Motorsports team and I competed in round twelve of the WorldSBK at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca as wildcards.... These bikes were quite simply unreal to ride, and what a track the #LagunaSeca circuit is! It's a real old school type of track, which has not been designed on a computer at all... 22.01.2022 Well, today was an up-and-down sort of the day for the #MaximaBMW team here at the opening round of the ASBK - Australian Superbikes. Todays scorecard was a 16-9 result In race one I started well. The team and I got a decent start, but got boxed in so I just settled into fifth or sixth place. We were in a consistent battle at the front with the whole pack which we were in. I honestly felt pretty comfortable running in that position.... However, during mid-race, I came into turn two and Aiden Wagner unfortunately made contact with me on the inside and ran us both off the track. I managed to not crash the bike heading into the gravel trap. However, when I was trying to make my way back onto the track, I just fell over in a deep soft spot in the gravel trap. That was a disappointing way to start the year. But then again, it could have been a lot worse. Race two saw us having chatter problems again with the bike, causing me to struggle with rear grip and chatter throughout the race. It wasnt ideal, but we learnt some new things about the BMW S 1000RR. Between races one and two, we changed the bike a bit and obviously it didnt work. For race three tomorrow we will go back in the other direction, which should make it better. Again, thanks to the whole team for their efforts. Lets hope we can finish off strongly tomorrow! 20.01.2022 Well, day one of the official ASBK - Australian Superbikes test is in the books here at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The #MaximaBMW team and I ended the day in tenth place overall in the combined times. Im not too worried about where we have ended up today, as its just a test and we are using today to see how to make the 2020 #BMWS1000RR work. Its been a good day, as in every session today we have improved the bike bit by bit, which is a credit to the team.... My first impressions of the bike are really good. Its got heaps of horsepower. At the moment power isnt our issue, we are trying to make the horsepower work as a complete package with everything else. One more day of testing tomorrow, before we go racing at the end of the next month... Lets see what we can do. 20.01.2022 Seeing the opening round of the WorldSBK at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is just a few weeks away, thought I would rip this image out from 2014 for a #ThrowBackThursday image... Due to Sylvain Barrier unfortunately hurting himself during pre-season testing on the Monday ahead of the opening round, BMW Motorrad Italia SBK team drafted me in to replace the French rider for the Australian round riding a slightly up-spec version of the BMW in the EVO class. That weekend,... the team and I qualified nineteenth and went on to finish with an eleventh (third in EVO class) in race one and fifteenth (fifth in EVO class) in the second race. It sure was one hell of a bike to ride and something Ill remember for the rest of my life! 17.01.2022 Finally, the Next Gen Motorsports team and I have something to be proud about! We will start this weekends three ASBK - Australian Superbikes races at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from fourth place on the grid, after we managed to stop the clock with a 1min33.226 The #MaximaBMW #S1000RR seems to be responding well to the changes we are making to it. ... While everything is going to plan, we did have a mishap in pit lane when we couldnt get the second tyre in. So, to be fourth on the grid, Im very happy with that. I do believe we had good chance of getting second. I dont think we had the pace to knock Wayne [Maxwell] for pole, but we P2 was definitely on the cards, if we got the SC0 in and had a go. It wasnt to be. Moving on, its probably a good thing we have been on the W tyre all weekend so far when its been dry as we know we have some consistency there heading into the races tomorrow and Sunday. I have to say a massive thanks to to my team, sponsors and everyone out there who supports and believes in me. It has been a tough few years, but things are looking a lot better now. I just hope I can deliver everyone a great result this weekend across the weekend!! We all have a much bigger challenge to battle at the moment with this Coronavirus (COVID-19).... We have to beat this virus as one. Like a race team, we work together as one to get the best possible result. Well, this is no different. Right now, we ALL have to work together as one big team to beat this disgusting little disease. We can do it, but we HAVE to follow the strict guidelines which our Australian Government is asking of us! 13.01.2022 Well, that's a wrap on the two day official ASBK - Australian Superbikes test at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Overall, the #MaximaBMW team and I finished in thirteenth place in the combined times, with my quickest time coming in the final session of the test with a 1min34.192. It's not ideal, and we were looking for more time, that's for sure. However, we have to remind ourselves that we are getting to know a whole new motorcycle, being the 2020 #BMWS1000RR.... The team and I leave the 'Island' with some very important data which we will look at and see where we can improve on from here on. Overall, the bike is great. It's fantastic bike to ride. It's just some setup issues which are holding us back. Massive thanks to Wayne Hepburn, Shane Kinderis and Brad Lewis for their help over the two days. We'll keep pushing on and focus on our goals! Well, trust me, that is not the case. There is a lot which goes on behind the scenes to make sure that the team is able to get to each round to be able to do the best possible job.... Here is a prime example right here. The Krooztune team are hard at work looking over my data which we got at the recent #ASBK test and will begin dynoing our hlins Australia suspension. 11.01.2022 Well, this was my office today... Wakefield Park for a two-day test ahead of the second round of the ASBK - Australian Superbikes, which takes place at the end of this month. Overall, it was a good hit out for the first time at #WakefieldPark on the 2020 #BMWS1000RR for the team and I. There are some challenges to be overcome with the bumps and the technical nature of the circuit, and obviously being a new motorcycle for us. ... Today, Shane Kinderis and I have done lots of shock changes, fork spring changes, and on top of that we tried the new #SC2 front tyre from PirelliMoto, which was pretty good, which is a credit to them. All in all, it was a pretty positive day. Of course, we would like to be a bit further up the time sheets from where we are. However, we are not that far away from the front runners. 11.01.2022 Well, thats a wrap on the two day official ASBK - Australian Superbikes test at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Overall, the #MaximaBMW team and I finished in thirteenth place in the combined times, with my quickest time coming in the final session of the test with a 1min34.192. Its not ideal, and we were looking for more time, thats for sure. However, we have to remind ourselves that we are getting to know a whole new motorcycle, being the 2020 #BMWS1000RR.... The team and I leave the Island with some very important data which we will look at and see where we can improve on from here on. Overall, the bike is great. Its fantastic bike to ride. Its just some setup issues which are holding us back. Massive thanks to Wayne Hepburn, Shane Kinderis and Brad Lewis for their help over the two days. Well keep pushing on and focus on our goals! 01.01.2022 It has been a little while since I have posted on my page, so thought I would keep you all up to date on what took place yesterday. If you follow the Next Gen Motorsports social media pages, you would have known that we had our first taste of life again back at a race track, since the country went into lock down due to the Coronavirus outbreak.... We went riding at Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla, Victoria First of all, it was just great to be back in this environment agai...n, being around the race bike and with #MaximaBMW team. To make it even better, it was a really positive day and yet again we are coming leaps and bounds in terms of the development of the 2020 #BMWS1000RR. We managed to work through some setup changes, which Shane [Kinderis] and I have been talking about with the electronics. We managed to find some really good settings which made the bike feel extremely good, which Im very happy about. Overall, the BMW S 1000RR worked very well on all the different types of tyres we used throughout the day, and most importantly our speed was good! We now have a good direction where we want to go in. So, well keep working hard and hopefully get to more tracks now, seeing the restrictions are slowly being lifted around the country. The main thing is, at the moment, I feel very confident we can run towards the pointy end of the field in the ASBK - Australian Superbikes on the package we have right now. I can only see us getting stronger from here, which is a credit to Shane and the rest of the Maxima BMW team. Massive thanks to our Team Manager, Wayne Hepburn, for Organizing the day. It just feels great to be back out on the track again. I also have to give a big shout out to all of the teams sponsors and my personal sponsors for sticking by us in what has been a strange time in our lives over the last few months. 01.01.2022 Fifth position in Free Practice one for the #MaximaBMW team and I for the opening round of the ASBK - Australian Superbikes at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit!!! It was a great way to start the weekend, thats for sure. I had a really good feeling with the #Maxima #BMWS1000RR, thanks to that test we did here last week at the Phillip Island Ride Days event. That test was quite simply invaluable. I cant thank the team enough, especially Wayne Hepburn for making that tes...t happen. We have been working towards this goal for a long time, as everyone in the team has been trying really hard so its nice to reward everyone involved a positive result. As everyone knows a new bike comes new challenges. That first practice session is the first time we have had some good feeling with the bike, so Im really happy. Obviously, we need to go faster, so we are going to work on making the #S1000RR better. For the meantime, a big thank you must go to my team for persevering with me. We have had some tough times lately. For the time being, its nice to have found some direction. Now that we know what direction we need to go in to make the bike work, Im feeling very good about it!
