25.01.2022 First market of the year for @all_foods_farm at Fish Creek Makers Market. What a great way to spend a Saturday. Selling first of the season apples, Gravestein and Melba Early as well as 3 varieties of plums, 2 types of garlic and Buffalo Blend Honey along with fresh vegetables. The farmer John looks like the expert for all your fruit and vegetable advice. #farmersmarket #heritage #honey #organic
25.01.2022 My god i have to proces these broad beans now !! Over 60kgs for sure. ( that lemon is for prespective) @emmaguapa has a new cookbook out 'The Catalan Kitchen ', with a greatvbroad bean and peas salad recipe. Might try that along with the usual frozen falafels #sustainableliving #catalankitchen #organic #freshfood #allfoodsfarm
22.01.2022 Pruning plums has started. Some needed a lot others not so much. This one had a lot of water shoots that needed to be removed. Best not to be afraid and cut it all off. Fruit forms mostly on 1 or 2 year old growth. Inly another 200 to go. #haircut #fruittree #sustainableliving
21.01.2022 Broadbean time again. Usually i make a huge batch of falafel, freeze them and eat them over summer with tomato and cucumber from the garden. But for cup day i have made a broadbean dip with some mint from the herb patch and the last of the garlic. Also through in a bit of feta, parmesan and a dash of cumin and olive oil. Tastes great. #lovefood #garden #sustainableliving
20.01.2022 For my foodie family. If you know what the traffic is like in bali this looks like an incredibly precarious way to transport eggs but suprisingly there looked like there were very few breakages.
20.01.2022 At the final group of fruit tree pruning for the season, 300 trees pruned, when i came across this lovely little tiny home on a lower branch on an apple tree, Starks Earliest. The 20 cents is so you can see the size. There are so many little birds around as we have interplanted thr front orchard with hedge rows for their habitat. #tinyhouse #allfoodsfarm #sustainableliving #apples #bird
17.01.2022 Just finished sorting out the apples, pears and nashi pears that we will be selling @meeniyangarlicfestival this saturday. All lovingly grafted and grown by us @all_foods_farm . 2 year old trees now looking great. Wide range of varieties that you would be hard pressed to find in most nurseries as they are from our heritage collection #apples #pears #organic #sustainableliving #meeniyangarlicfestival
11.01.2022 That straw you put in my pen isn't as good as the straw still on the truck !! #inquisitive #hen #allfoodsfarm
09.01.2022 Cleaning up around the house site for the slightly messy builder. Found another use for excess straw. The orchard has never been so well treated. #strawbale #apple #orchard #sustainableliving
08.01.2022 Straw excess from house build to be spread around fruit trees also great place for a cat to sleep. #catsleeping #mulch #sustainableliving
07.01.2022 I will be running this workshop at Manna Gum Community house in Foster on Tuesday 30th October. Should be informative coming into mid spring when a lot of pests and diseases start to become very apparent in the vegetable garden and orchard https://mannagumcommunityhouse.org.au//manna-garden-works/
06.01.2022 Adding last years grafted apples and pears into the main orchard. There are combination of heritage varieties. We will also be selling some of the grafted apples and pears @promcountryfarmersmarket this saturday and John will be available to add a multi graft to bought trees from a wide range of scion cut from our existing orchard of over 40 varieties of apples and 20 varieties of pears. This will be our last market till mid spring so don't miss out on fresh fruit and vegetables and come and buy a heritage apple or pear tree. #apples #pears #fruittrees #farmersmarket
04.01.2022 Thankfully we live in South Gippsland where a dry winter means 800mm of rain rather than 1200mm. After watching the drought news from around Australia i am happy to spend 5 months wearing gumboots. The dams are all full and the ground where i walk is turning to mud. The fruit trees don't need to be irrigated most summers. Reflections from the front dam. #climatechange #drought #southgippsland #sustainableliving
