25.01.2022 ICE BATHS It hurts, it’s hard to breath.. then you slow down, let go of tension and the story in your head turns off 4 degrees for 2mins (I went twice) and your white blood cell count is elevated for a week! Inflammation is reduced etc. plus you feel energized - ALIVE Couple that with the strong Wim Hof method breathing technique and you can defy science; literally achieve things thought by conventional science to be impossible, just like Wim Hof. If you don’t know who I mean do yourself a favour and jump on YouTube. I speak to many of my patients about the Wim Hof method for its powerful healing potential. 24.01.2022 A day of treatment in an Acupuncture clinic ranges from neck pain, to post-stroke rehabilitation, to labour induction or back pain, headaches, regulating menstrual irregularities, balancing hormonal issues to being the last chance for a person who has tried everything and found no relief. Doctors of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture offer a wide range of treatments with perhaps the highest level of safety and an ever increasing research base larger than physiotherapy and chiropractics combined. That’s why Chinese Medicine is the fastest growing natural medicine #naturalmedicine #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #goldcoastacupuncture #burleighwatersacupuncture

22.01.2022 Google is now a pharmaceutical company, which might explain why it is actively censoring natural medicines in it's search suggestions. Their parent company has created 2 pharma companies the past 6 years. Their anti-competitive censoring suggests that they see natural medicine as a threat. Why else would they do it? https://thefedupdemocrat.home.blog//google-is-now-a-phar/

18.01.2022 Knee osteoarthritis responds better to a high frequency of Acupuncture treatment according to the highest level of evidence. A recent systematic review found that high treatment frequency out-performed low and moderate level treatment frequency results for reduced pain and long term improvement in symptoms. Dr. Tan always suggested treatment 2 times per week initially, even daily for very acute conditions, until symptoms began to noticeably improve. Treating twice a week see...ms to be common in successful Acupuncture research also. Acupuncture is a treatment therapy, not a miracle cure, though at times the results can be amazing it often takes commitment and consistent treatment to heal complex problems. It makes sense that years worth of degeneration and accumulating damage takes time too improve. Luckily Acupuncture is considered a very safe treatment option, without life threatening side effects in the hands of registered practitioner. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31271300

These findings show that there is great potential for acupuncture treatment in regulating systemic inflammation.

07.01.2022 "Heartburn drugs linked to fatal heart and kidney disease, stomach cancer." Many pharmaceutical drugs carry a long list of harmful effects (labelled 'side effects' but they're effects, let's face it). These drugs need to be approached like a 'pay-day advance loan' with 30% compounding interest.. Best avoided! They are at best a short-term solution for symptomatic relief while you get to work fixing the root of the problem and ideally get off them and out of harms way. The bes...t option is always to invest in your health in advance but hey, challenges happen and nobody's perfect. Proactive regular treatments with Chinese medicine can help balance your body before trouble starts. Your health is a bit like your finances. If you found yourself financially bankrupt there is no quick fix; you can stop needless spending, consolidate your debts, start saving and start trying to earn extra cash. Short term loans can help you get on top of debt but it's about consistency and sticking with it. It's the same with your health. If you find yourself in a health crisis drugs can provide fast symptomatic relief but they rarely fix the root of the problem. Then it's up to you to pay off your health debt fast by getting on top of the cause with the advise of natural health professional. With personalised research-backed lifestyle and diet changes, plus proactive treatment you may be able to get yourself out of bad health. Somewhere on that journey there should be a plan (including your GP) to get off potentially dangerous drugs. After all, you don't want to die suffering through kidney disease and stomach cancer because you had heartburn, do you?! The increased risk just isn't worth staying on them long term when making some positive changes can prevent it. I always advise patients to respect their GP's advice, however unless you are in a health crisis you should be able to exhaust these options before opting for a lifetime of potentially harmful drugs or surgery. Surgery is rarely reversible, and success rates are never 100%. There is a huge body of evidence in support of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine backed by literally 1000's of years of practice around the world. Stay off "Dr Google", find an excellent practitioner to work in conjunction with your GP, and find safe long term solutions to your health whenever possible, or the health loan-sharks may be coming for you! https://medicine.wustl.edu//popular-heartburn-drugs-link/

07.01.2022 These common symptoms can be a sign of not getting enough water: fatigue constipation back pain joint issues... allergies asthma dry skin, lips or mouth You may be consuming liquids like tea, coffee, fruit juice.. but these could be making the problem worse and don’t necessarily help to hydrate you. 06.01.2022 "Chronic low back pain generally defined as pain that lasts 12 weeks or more is a complex disorder with numerous causes that afflicts millions of people. There is widespread agreement that health-care providers have overused powerful opioid painkillers to address it." Acupuncture is being studied in the USA for the elderly who suffer chronic low back to determine if Medicare will cover the treatment for that age group. https://www.washingtonpost.com//3eb8cf94-a749-11e9-9214-24

05.01.2022 Acupuncture relieved pain faster than morphine for several conditions in a Hospital Emergency Department trial. Morphine is widely considered the strongest pharmaceutical pain relief drug. It has improved quality of life and reduced suffering for countless people across the world. But it doesn’t always work! It can take time to take effect. Plus it can cause terrible side effects and many people would rather put up with the pain. Acupuncture not only reduces pain it has been... shown to change functional nerve pathways, reduce inflammation and address the root cause of pain. 03.01.2022 Are you planning a spring clean? As we transition out of winter in a few short weeks the days become longer & warmer. A time of new growth is around the corner. A time of new beginnings. A time to come out of hibernation & venture out into the world. It’s also the time to move gradually away from warming, stodgy, winter comfort foods like stews & roasts into lighter meals by adding more fresh salad greens , veg, berries & fruits into your diet.... Spring is a great time to clean up any bad dietary habits that crept in during our mild but fresh gold coast winter. Personally I’m already off stimulants like caffeine, sugar & took out alcohol whilst I was at it. I’m supporting my body’s adjustment & detox with veggie juice with a solid hit of ginger to balance the cold/raw nature of the juice. Week 1 was: beetroot, carrot, ginger, celery & apple to help taper off any sugar cravings. Week 2 took began with green juice: parsley, celery, wheat grass, apple, kale, silverbeet & ginger. This strategy of staying hydrated & alkaline meant completely avoiding any cracking headaches from sugar or caffeine withdrawals/detox. I got excited & started early but this is a great way to cleanse during spring for a healthier summer you. Dr Scott (BHSc Acu)

02.01.2022 Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy is a common side effect of Chemotherapy, especially for breast cancer. It mostly impacts the feet, but commonly the hands too. What does it feel like? ... Feet can feel numb, cold, constantly tingling or burning with pain. It may feel as though you can’t feel the floor under your feet, just a sensation of standing on sand. Hands can also feel numb over the palm and fingers, and maybe like an ice cube is being held on your nail beds. It can be difficult to hold a pen or sign your name. The idea that there is no beneficial treatment for CIPN is a myth. Even when numbness is present, in my experience, this can be significantly improved in many cases. Research also shows that Acupuncture can relieve CIPB symptoms and improve quality of life. Acupuncture has been shown to effectively reduce symptom distress, improving nervous system conduction, and alleviating CIPN symptoms and is proven to be safe. See the allied Acupuncture blog through the link in our bio for the full article. It is incredibly rewarding to see the smile on a patient’s face when they can sign their name properly again for the first time in months or walk with feeling in their feet, pain free. #alliedacupuncturegoldcoast #acupuncturepainrelief #acupunctureworks #cipn #peripheralneuropathy #peripheralneuropathyawareness #peripheralneuropathysucks #breastcancerfree #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness

02.01.2022 Ever notice that city live is stressful or causes anxiety? Or, that taking a nice drive out to the countryside is incredibly relaxing? One reason why is that our visual processing centres in the brain deeply accept natural landscapes, whilst even beautiful or stylish city/urban scapes induce an uncertain, more complex analysis, even if you have lived in cities all your life. "(N)atural environments are good for humans, affecting mental and physical health and even levels of a...ggression." https://www.independent.co.uk//human-brain-hard-wired-for-
