19.01.2022 As we've discussed in our previous posts, play therapy is super beneficial. We've seen how speech pathologists and occupational therapists use it but how do psychologists use it? Play therapy allows children to play out their inner and real-life experiences. It allows them to express, regulate, communicate, practice, master new skills and regulate their emotions. It offers a structured approach to their problems. Psychologists can help by observing and gaining insight into these problems and providing a tailored therapy plan. #alliedhealthplace #psychology #playtherapy

08.01.2022 Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (or ADHD) affects about 1 million people in Australia with around 6-7% of children being diagnosed with the disorder. It is frequently misunderstood and under-diagnosed. If left untreated, ADHD can cause lifetime impairment. Fortunately, it can be managed through tailored behaviour management plans set out by a healthcare professional. #alliedhealthplace #ADHD #occupationaltherapy #speechpathology #psychology

01.01.2022 Occupational therapists are experts in the social, emotional and physiological effects of illness and injury. They can help clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (or ASD) by setting specific goals in regards to social interaction, behaviour and classroom performance. By developing a structured, individualised care plan, occupational therapists can help those with ASD respond better to their environment. #alliedhealthplace #occupationaltherapy #autism
