21.01.2022 This week is Speech Pathology week and we would like to give a big shout out to all of our Speech Pathologists here at ATS who are continuing to serve the community through the pandemic. You do such incredible work and we are lucky to have you on our team!

20.01.2022 Speech Pathologist Lauren was out and about on Friday in West Melbourne seeing clients and practising safe face to face meetings during Covid restrictions. At ATS we are still seeing clients both face to face and via Telehealth as Victoria works it's way though the new spike in Covid cases. If you have any concerns about Covid, have a chat to your therapist about how they can ensure you feel comfortable and confident to continue on with your therapy sessions so that you can still achieve your goals in 2020.

19.01.2022 Our West Melbourne therapists are doing a fantastic job of working with their clients to achieve their goals and boost their spirits during this difficult time. Here's one of our physiotherapists Connie completing a physio session with her client. We can't emphasise enough how important it is to continue working on your goals, exercise, interact with others and boost your spirits through your therapy sessions! (*photo taken pre-covid)

17.01.2022 In our educational series of posts, Speech Pathologist Alison Christie discusses how she worked with her client to achieve her swallowing goals. Jane* had a stroke at age 38 and had a goal - she wanted to sit at McDonalds and eat a Big Mac and drink a Diet Coke! In this article you’ll learn how the ATS team worked together to assist Jane with swallowing, positioning, the logistics of getting to McDonalds and finally celebrating Jane’s hard work! https://www.alliedtherapyservices.com.au//how-a-speech-pat

08.01.2022 One of our OT's Nicole is working with the family of Gabriel. Gabriel is vision impaired but he has not let that stop him from becoming involved in so many amazing initiatives across Ballarat. Alongside the animal rescue kits Gabriel has helped to put together, he is also running workshops for Vision Australia and is a nominee for Ballarat Young Citizen of the Year! A great example of how a disability does not have to get in the way of your dreams!

06.01.2022 Goal Achieved One of Emily’s main Physio goals this year has been to increase her walking endurance, with the focus on doubling the distance she walked in last years Stroke Associations Will2Walk. Emily is incredibly dedicated to her daily Physio & OT home based rehab program & with regular home based ATS Physio sessions not only has she improved her endurance but she has progressed from a Grillo walker (pictured below) to a Trionic outdoor 4 wheeled walker. Today Emily’s ...goal was to walk 100m. Today with the support of family, friends & her ATS Physio Anne, Emily smashed her goal & walked 140m. Emily has been raising money through the Will2Walk for the Barwon Stroke Support Centre (she has also smashed her fundraising goal ). The Barwon Stroke Support Centre is such a amazing resource in the Geelong community. It’s programs deliver a range of support & recovery-based activities for stroke survivors.
