05.01.2022 On the 20th of January 2020, after having our eyes glued to the Fires Near Me App for weeks, our attention quickly turned to the BOM website when we heard that a huge hailstorm was on its way to Canberra... well, we all know how that turned out. One year on and the Insurance Council of Australia has released some updated figures on the hailstorms that swept through regional Victoria, the ACT and parts of Sydney: The storms collectively resulted in almost 131,000 claimed lo...dged with an estimated cost of over $1.65 billion Motor claims made up more than half of all claims lodged 57% of all claims lodged (approx. 74,660) came from the ACT The ACT Government reported that over 44,500 ACT registered vehicles were damaged, with more than 7,000 not insured The ACT Emergency Services Agency responded to over 2,500 calls for assistance - triple the average calls received in a typical season We love numbers and were a little curious to find out how our clients’ hail claims stacked up. So far, the 15 minute storm has resulted in 132 claims lodged by the allinsure team, with a current total of $30,000,000!
