22.01.2022 While we won't be holding a BBQ this Halloween (It will be back in 2021! - COVID permitting!) There have been residents who have asked to be included on the map or who want to see a map of houses open for trick-or-treating. So if you will have treats for the kids, or decorations up please let me know your address so I can add it to the map. This will be a ...great family day out with rides, entertainment, food vans, markets, local produce, pony rides, animal farm, a trackless train, TOURS of the Mary Poppins House and more! 08.01.2022 As part of the 5000Poppies - 11.11.18 project in Canberra, the Allora Community Circle Inc with the help of community members from Allora, Warwick and as far as Toowoomba, crochet & knitted 800 poppies which were included as part of the Remembrance Day installation in the Capital today. In addition to this a further 100 poppies were made and and were part of a Poppy Exchange between Warwick, Southern Downs and Warwickshire in England. Both sides posted 100 hand-made poppies ...to each other along with information about their respective communities. Today Sharlene Gladman and Julie Kawano from the Allora Community Circle Presented them to Councillor Rod Kelly and the Allora RSL President Shaun Godley. They were handed out to the community members who attended this mornings ceremony at the something memorial on Herbert street. The remaining poppies will be displayed at the RSL Allora Sub Branch Inc. Thank you to Warwick Poppies 2018, all those involved and to all who helped make the poppies. Most of all to the men, women, children and animals who fell on the battlefield a world away. We pause at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to commemorate the guns falling silent to end world war one, 100 years ago #5000poppies #remembranceday2018 #allora #warwickpoppies2018 #WW1

06.01.2022 ATTENTION: Due to the forecasted storms and rainfall we are disappointed to have to have to cancel tonight's Bush Christmas Event. As you can imagine a lot of hard work goes into facilitating these celebrations and it is not a decision we take lightly. Please know that while we look up and see a sunny sky right now vendors from out of town, including our rides, animals, entertainment and electrical equipment have indicated they do not wish to attend with the pending rain, wh...ich is completely understandable. We can definitely do with the rain but it's a shame that once again it's come today! Although as it's been said, if it's cancelled it won't rain, if we proceed it will. Murphy’s Law right? We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and we hope everyone can appreciate the decision that has been made. We would like to wish everyone an extremely happy and merry Christmas and invite everyone to celebrate the rain at the Railway Hotel were Luke Costello will be playing tonight from 8 until late. 01.01.2022 Sunday again , Warm and dry in the Allora Sports Museum open 12.30-4.00 pm . Another week of the crazy people taking hold !! Changing the name of Coon cheese ??... I wonder how long gone and highly respected people of the town would react . A man who played Allora footy and ran an Allora business Mr ‘Buff’ Holmes , He went off to war but didn’t see much action due to his capture . The Japanese booked him into a less than 5 star prison camp , to be part of the unimaginable. Upon his release he returned to continue his Business with brother Milton ( Wife Thelma is a Hall of Famer ) at Holmes and co . I wonder what reaction Buff would have if I said to him that I was in the dairy section of his supermarket and a packet of cheese has offended me ? I hang my head head in shame !!! See more
