08.01.2022 WHAT PRIVACY LAWS APPLY when doing aerial real estate photography in Queensland? This is a question we are asked from time to time. Hoping to finally have a definite answer to this question (so that we can relay this message to our agents and anyone asking us), we attended the inaugural 2017 'World of Drones' congress which was hosted in Brisbane at the end of August. 2 Full days jam packed with national and international speakers. "I Spy with my Eye in the Sky: Drones an...d Current Laws Protecting Privacy in Australia, Dr Des Butler, QUT (Aus)" is a leading authority on this topic. The photo here, courtesy of the slide shown at the presentation, shows simplistically and broadly how the privacy laws apply and how disjointed they are from state to state throughout Australia. In QLD there are 3 crosses, which basically mean, in very simple terms, you have no legal right to privacy unless there is an intent to do surveillance on a person without the person knowing. Qld is not alone, as you can see. This has been referred to as the 'fractured landscape' of legislation. CASA has nothing to do with this, they are a safety organisation first and foremost. **Disclaimer: This is not an opinion and certainly not advice but merely information that came out of this particular seminar.

08.01.2022 Bad weather is another one of the challenging issues we face on a regular basis. It may not be raining but when the sky looks drab, everything else looks drab on the ground too. Through experience and over time I have developed techniques to replace a sky and make the ground pop going from dull and uninspiring to something more presentable. The trick is to make it look as realistic as possible. Of course there is no subsitute for the real sunshine and blue sky. Here are a few after and before shots and a few where the sky has already been replaced. Now imagine the last few without a blue sky.... (ps... I think FB has made the colours more vibrant than intended... I will get back to this)

06.01.2022 This week there were two stand out homes - two very, very different in character and styling. The first one is an old Queenslander (photos below) which has been renovated with modern styling. Inner city living at its best - though personally not a home I could see myself living in - whereas the second home has earned its own separate write up (coming soon). I fell in love with it the moment I stepped inside and could have bought it there and then if the price was right....

02.01.2022 Behind the scenes shot at a twilight shoot tonight....

02.01.2022 Some of the most common issues we come accross at a photo shoot are (in no particular order): (1) "Take a photo of my dog / cat - they are so cute". Whilst the cat or dog may look cute, the reality is that we are photographing the house not the pet that lives there. Also to keep in mind, not everyone likes animals, some may be allergic to the hair and seeing a cat or dog in the photo might just be the deciding factor to not even bother looking at the house. Exceptions are... chickens, horses and other lifestock which is then a selling tool to showcase what else is there. (2) Wait to hang up your washing until after the photos are done. Washing on the line adds to the clutter and business of a photo. (3) Check your light bulbs - Every.Single.One. - even the outside ones. Whilst sometimes it is better to leave a light off, most often light gives a room a warm glow and enhances the overall look and feel. Same goes with candles - if you have them, light them up. 02.01.2022 Tina's Renovation Story : Linear Constructions delivered immaculate design and high quality finish to this renovation and extension job at inner North Brisbane. Tina was a little nervous in front of the camera but was candid and honest about how she felt the process worked for her. It is testament to Linear's quality that even after 5 years from the end of the job, the builder / client relationship is evidently still very strong.
