24.01.2022 SCHOOL LIFE | Our own pot of gold at the end of the rainbow earlier this week: our school ovals This beautiful image was captured by our Junior School lay chaplain who was alerted by a group of students to go to the oval to "see their Godly moment"

24.01.2022 HOSPITALITY | Learning hospitality online, especially cookery, may sound impossible yet All Saints students are still cooking up a storm! Students receive HelloFresh meal packs each week, which they create and prepare to restaurant standard at home. Teacher and Chef, Andy Tonkin, streams a demonstration of the dish from our Heavens Above Training Restaurant which the students watch and discuss, then cook at home using the recipe cards contained within the Hello Fresh meal packs. This week our Year 11 students created Bacon & Mushroom Spaghetti for their Simple Dishes unit and next week our Year 10s will be creating Korean Beef Tacos! Yum!

22.01.2022 SPORT | Our before school Running Club continues to attract many students intent on developing their skills, fitness and stamina. It’s also lots of fun! How great is their camraderie at the end of each session?!

21.01.2022 SUSTAINABILITY | A big thank you Composta Australia who recently donated two Composta pots to the Junior School. This wonderful pot is a compost bin and worm farm in one! It combines our food scraps with the magic of composting worms to produce organic fertilizer that feeds the plants growing within the pot itself. The Junior School Sustainability Club is very excited to implement these around the Junior School!

21.01.2022 SPORT | Congratulations to our Junior School Netball team who, after two terms of committed and intensive training, travelled to the Sunshine Coast last weekend to represent All Saints at the Queensland Primary School Netball Cup. The competition attracted 200 schools from all over Queensland and is a wonderful initiative of Netball Queensland to support primary school sport. We are very proud of the team who played with the All Saints spirit of joy and sportsmanship which complemented their brilliant on court results. After 12 games of very competitive netball, our team were Championship Division 2 winners which is an amazing result for a mixed Year 5 and 6 team. Well done girls!

21.01.2022 CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS | We are very excited to work with some of our Middle School students on a course that will teach them valuable life skills. Year 9 Library sessions during Term 1 focus on a unit of work called 'Get That Job'. We are looking for ‘prospective employers’ to conduct mock job interviews with our students on Wednesday 1 April. If you are able to help, please call Mrs Julie Deane on 5587 0326 or email [email protected] by Monday 9 March 2020

19.01.2022 NETBALL | Last week All Saints welcomed 25 netball teams from schools across the Gold Coast to participate in an all day netball carnival. The 250 players competed for the fourth annual Gretel Tippett Trophy. The spirit of the day was joyous and the emphasis on participation, fun and fair play. It was a great sight to see so many smiling faces on and around each court. No doubt these smiles were made a little wider with the arrival of All Saints past student, current Firebird and Australian Diamond, Gretel Tippett who is an inspiration and idol to many of the players.

17.01.2022 IN THE MEDIA | Headmaster Mr Patrick Wallas was recently featured as part of the Chalk’n’Chats feature in the Gold Coast Bulletin. Mr Wallas spoke about his upbringing in the UK including the stark contrast between his boarding school experience and the holistic environment provided by schools today. There is a tendency or a narrative among people my age tempted to look back and say our childhood was less complex, more simple, he said. But in reality I am absolutely confid...ent kids today are more developed and school has taken on the role of really caring about emotional wellbeing. At All Saints we talk about enrolling the family not just the child I think there is a genuine care for and love of the children we serve at this school. If you subscribe to the Gold Coast Bulletin, you can read the full article and listen to the podcast here: https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au//80f1c9370017b4d447ea

There will be four runs of this gripping musical but with smaller audience limits due to our COVID-19 safe plan, tickets will be selling faster that toilet rolls - so get in quick! Performances will take place NEXT WEEK - Wednesday 22 July, Thursday 23 July, Friday 24 July and Saturday 25 July.... Book now: www.trybooking.com/BJZMF What is Blood Brothers all about? In the Senior School's 'off year' from the musical, we typically opt for a comedy by the Bard. However, with the tabloids forecasting an apocalypse, and some of our finest musical theatre stars and musicians in their final year at All Saints, we decided the show must go on. And, yes, it's also because we're mad thespians. Insert 'spirit fingers'. Blood Brothers is a contemporary nature versus nurture story, revolving around twins Mickey and Eddie, who were separated at birth, one subsequently being raised in a wealthy family, the other in a poor family. Inextricably linked, their lives orbit each other as tensions mount and, ultimately, tragedy reigns. This production will be performed by our Year 11 and 12 superstars only. It's a more dramatic musical than usual with mature themes and some colourful language, so we do recommend parental guidance; not advisable for Junior School children. Past student and now Associate Lighting Designer on Broadway, Mitchell Fenton (Class of 2009), has used his COVID downtime back in Oz to help us on the show - designing and programming the lighting and training staff and trainees. Be sure not to miss it!

09.01.2022 BLOOD BROTHERS | Fifth show now released! Due to popular demand a matinee show has now been added on Saturday 25 July at 12 noon. If you haven't yet booked, get in quick! www.trybooking.com/BJZMF

08.01.2022 THANK YOU | As we kick off the first week of winter holidays, we would like to wish all families a wonderful and restful break after an extraordinary first semester. In the spirit of our 2020 theme, 'Gratitude', we just had to share this cake which was lovingly decorated for the 'shaka man' who, along with his colleague, cheerfully direct traffic outside our school gates and have become quite an icon! To say they were blown away by this lovely gesture is an understatement!
