21.01.2022 BREAD TAGS FOR WHEELCHAIRS For the rest of this term and throughout next term, here at All Saints we will be collecting bread tags. Each class has been provided with a small bucket for students to place any bread tags they bring to school. The bread tags will be sent off to Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs in South Australia, or dropped off at one of their collection points in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.... The plastic bread tags are collected by people and organisations all over Australia and are then recycled, raising funds to buy wheelchairs for disadvantaged people in South Africa. So far, almost 2000kg of Australian bread tags have been recycled. 250kg of bread tags is enough to fund a basic wheelchair for someone in need. We are aiming to collect bread tags this year and deliver the tags to one of the Queensland collection points, so they can be transported to South Australia for recycling. If you know of anyone who works in a caf or a shop where lots of bread tags are used, please ask them to save their bread tags so you can add them to your class collection. Prep students have almost filled the container already! At the end of each term, the class with the most bread tags, calculated by weight, will receive a prize. Once your class has filled the container, just bring it up to the Year 6 classroom and well provide you with another container so you can keep collecting. Social Justice Committee Year 6

02.01.2022 Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. (From the gospel for today, which also marks the Feast... of St Clare) The team at Catholic Mission in Brisbane has always valued its relationship with local schools. It is in these places of learning and fun that young children grow in their faith and understanding of what it means to follow Christ, to believe in and worship God and to be part of the Catholic Church. We can all learn from their sense of faith and we give thanks for those who teach and help plant the seeds of that faith, such as Karen Douglas from All Saints Boonah. As we pray in the Communion Antiphon in todays Mass, thank you to school leaders such as you for having chosen the better part. #encounter
