24.01.2022 Prepare your own ANZAC Day home service to Light Up The Dawn. RSL South Australia has addressed public requests for dawn service resources by posting a home ser...vice guide with a format and links to bugle calls and national anthems at https://bit.ly/3aSuhKr The Adelaide Dawn Service (closed to the public) will be live broadcast commencing at 06:00 on ABC 891 with Peter Goers and on ABC News 24 (not the ABC main channel). Even if you normally attend the Adelaide Dawn Service, do not attempt to attend this year, as there is an exclusion zone around the memorial and police will move you on. You can listen to your local ABC Radio from your driveway or balcony via your mobile phone. Download the ABC Listen app and search for ABC Adelaide or your local ABC station and join us, as we commemorate ANZAC Day together. Link: https://radio.abc.net.au/help/apps It will also be live streamed here on our Facebook page.

18.01.2022 Brrr! It was a chilly start to the day for southern Australia, with a large high pressure system leading to clear conditions overnight, bringing widespread fros...t The system will continue to bring bright, sunny days to the southeast this week, but minimum temperatures are expected to be 3 to 8 degrees below the June average Tuesday and Wednesday morning across much of southern Australia. So, why does it feel so cold? Clouds act as a ‘blanket’ that helps prevent daytime warmth from escaping into space during the night. Clear skies allow the heat to escape more easily, allowing temperatures to quickly plummet once the sun goes down. Another contributing factor is calm or light winds associated with high pressure conditions, which means cold temperatures near the surface aren't mixed out with warmer air aloft. 01.01.2022 There might not be any sport or cinemas at the moment but nature has your entertainment sorted. The Lyrid meteor shower is on its way and meteors will be visibl...e from as early as this week, and should peak on April 2223. During its peak, you can expect to see well over 20 meteors per hour, with each streak visible for several seconds. The good news is that you should be able to view it without any special equipment, just cast your eyes directly to the north, but low on the horizon, towards the constellation Lyra, (of which Lyrid is named after). Use our satellite viewer http://ow.ly/977y50zgJ9C to check the cloud cover in your area, and if the sky is clear then find a dark spot outside, turn your outside lights off and get comfortable. The best viewing times for Australia are after midnight. If you are lucky enough to get great photos, then be sure to post them here! This amazing photo of a meteor was taken by Hedworx Digital at Lake King, in the WA wheatbelt in July 2019.
