25.01.2022 Pulled pork is something ive been wanting to do for ages. Some upcoming camping trips ive been planning to do this on out with firends. Turned out amazing..presentation could be improved haha.Riverway Meats always a cut above the rest.

24.01.2022 Mail arrived today. Couldnt help myself but to install them. Surprisingly easy job being 20minutes for both doors. Towing will be much easier now. And they arent that out of place overall. Decided to not go chrome again like standard patrol mirrors and go black.

24.01.2022 What do you use your old car parts boxes for? Fuel tank boxes make great cubby houses.

23.01.2022 Elim beach on the way to the Cape York Peninsula. Who said you cant do it in a JAYCO! Alot have seen that we cab and especially through the bloomfueld track where we are the only ones besides ZONE RV testing their new van. Jayco Australia Jayco. Loving the Starcraft!

23.01.2022 Hmmm time to uncover ready for easter getaway. Surprised at the ADCO cover it has lasted so well and keeps the sun and water away. Cant wait to getaway.

23.01.2022 Out and about the Townsville area. Still a lot of water aroud the place. The dam is chock a block compared to a month or so ago. Nice walk along the dam wall. And the staircase down next to the spillway. There is free camping next to the dam for travellers to stop off with toilets and a dump point. Then off to palleranda to play on the beach.

22.01.2022 Our Cape York adventure trip with our Jayco Starcraft 17.58-3 Outback. What an amazing journey. More info and pics to come.

21.01.2022 V8 power in this awesome GQ Patrol

21.01.2022 Stage 5 action from Reid River near Charters Towers. Absolutely awesome to watch these comp trucks in action.

20.01.2022 So today we ventured off to Wallaman Falls west of Ingham. Absolutely amazing sight and beautiful day in NQ. Decided to do the 4km round trip to the base of the falls and back, and all I can say is wow what an adventure of a walk. Sole slippery rocks and tight turns completely insane, however well worth the effort to complete.

20.01.2022 Time for a polish after a clean from top to bottom. Getting that red dirt out from all the hiding places.

20.01.2022 Mates and I setup in Cairns.

20.01.2022 Some awesome night racing action from NQEXTREME.

20.01.2022 So today decided to dust proof the hatches. I used automotive 10x108mm D seal with 3m tape as backing. This should help keep everything sealed. When shutting the door you can now feel the pressure seal. Available at clark rubber or alike. 7m did all the hatches in the 17.58-3 including the big 900 long one under the bunk.

17.01.2022 So decided to clean the awning as it has started to get some mould buildup over the last few uses. This is normal over time. Was told by a cleaner friend to use these Chux cleaning cloth called magic eraser. Ill tell you what with no effort at all and two beers its clean as a whistle. To do the whole awning of our 17ft van i us.ed one cloth only.

16.01.2022 So taday ill start by adding a little about ourselves. My partner two kids and I have developed a passion to the great outdoors and adventures big and small. Due to work we try and get out as much as we can. Based currently in Townsville QLD there are many thinfs and places to see and explore. I also like to dabble in modifications and upgrades. We have a 2011 Nossan Patrol which I love like a part of the family and a 2016 Jayco Starcraft 17ft pop top. Both of these make up our setup. We will break these down further in the future as well as modifications places to see etc. We have exciting plans for.cape york Sep 2017 and Fraser Island again in December. Thanks for reading and there will be more updates soon.

16.01.2022 Final pieces before our easter vacation to Cairns. Used most of the corrugation on the kflex. Wasnt 100% sold kflex is the final fronteir. However this corrugation over kflex looks and will protect the best possible. I think anyway. Also all the pipes are rigid and dont even need bracing with zip ties however i thought i should just incase. Still more to do but thats a later job.

13.01.2022 A succesful easter long weekend with good friends. Long overdue.....a few heads turned when walking around with our pet rainbow lorikeet. Charters towers big 4 Oasis was the destination. 4 days of chilling out on fhe bog pool and kids on the jumping pillow. Even the weather was good to us with the impending low coming towards FNQ.

13.01.2022 So today was take two at underbody protection slowly working my way forward and further trips to bunnings. Found some 50mm corrugated pipe. 20m but i think ill only need a few. If you see down the center of the van there is a mix of pipes for water, hot, cold, electrics and whatever else. This is all nice and safe after install and more kflex to finish protecting plastic pipes. Also today started doing the brake wiring. The only rear issue is lengthening them approx 300mm each and ill run them up the independant arms, on the rear edge and strap them down with metal pipe bands in the future. However for now ive fixed some prone areas. Make sure to have a look at the little things like this on any trailer or camper/van. Easter in cairns up next so looking forward to that! Will do a write-up over the break.

12.01.2022 Next project for our upcoming trip to CapeYork in September is to place the generator on the front drawerbar. No box is suitable due to cable room on handbrake and i dont have the time for ordering custom boxes like on the new Jayco adventurer. Spare tyre on the 17.58-3 removed to the rear bar so time to use the space wisely. This little KIPOR POWER 2600 generator im using is an amazing little unit. One of only 3 generators certified by Jayco to be used on the airconditioner on the roof. Stay tuned for the end product and see if this little generator can handle the Far North Queensland on the front.

11.01.2022 FAN Modification: After a while in FNQ its time to upgrade to better cooling efficiency. After a Cape York trip i found these Antec 3speed fansm turns out i lost the fan as it was attached to my vent...lesson learned. Found two 120mm fans and decided to fit. Step1: use aluminium bracket from bunnings and after you remove the outer bracket assembly from van and cut the pieces to suit.... Step 2: drill holes in aluminium and fit screws provided with the fan. Then attach brackets to vent outer assembly. Trial fit the vent cover to make sure all fits. Step 3: Wiring....have a look at your factory diagram. Turns out my Thetford N504.has internal fan as its a tropical model. I tapped into the fan switch on the front of the fridge to provide the power to these fans also. Then placed bigger fuse to suit. This was hwen thermostat hits 37degrees all three fans will work. Step 4: After the wiring is ready use a chalking gun or silicone to re attach the outer case with the fans back onto the van. Use the screws from removal. Wire up the fans to switch and should be good to go. Point to note is that it is preffered that you get IP rated fans. This is hard to get ones that dont make the noise like a hurricane. So i added silicone intontge control board for the fans to make them better suited to the elements. While i was there and had it all apart i cleaned out all the dust and alike. Also modified the exhaust on the fridge for what i think is the better but ill post about that later. Hope this helps someone out. Previos setup helped the fridge efficiency alot with one.small ebay fan. This should make it run like a champ. As these fans are 3 speed i can crank them up and down depending on location. If im at a caravan park on power ill turn it down as not to annoy the neighbours. Off grid ill turn it up to high in summer.

11.01.2022 Well i definately didnt think i would see such a thing as a tree kangaroo however a trip to Melanda Nerada Tea factory made it real. Most days these are hanging around in the trees. This tea is found at all supermarkets however i didnt realise it was grown in the Atherton Tablelands.

11.01.2022 NQExtreme 4x4 comp Reid River qld 4 Nov 2017

07.01.2022 Today ive been doing some more mods to the Jayco Australia 17.58-3. Modifying the vents with G3 aircon filter to prevent dust as we head to the cape in a few weeks. Better to filter the air than others taping or covering the vents. Next step is fitting the fans to pressurise the cabin and create better flow for the fridge. Step one is complete. Stay tuned for new fans installed too.

06.01.2022 So today we decided to go with a mate of mine exploring Bowling green Bay National Park . This is the Cape Cleveland area near the marine institute. You can camp here through the national parks website. There is a boat launching area near the camp sites and ill post some fishing chat next time im back. Looks like its worth throwing a crabpot in there as a precaution. Never know your luck. As it is a Sunday there was not many people around. In fact only saw one other person ar...ound in a 120 series prado. There has bot been much rain around of late however there are some boggy bits to be careful of. There are massive flats that you see people driving on however ill leave that to others as there is a big bord sanctuary in the park and wish not to wreck the fauna. Plenty of light to medium tracks around however ill be coming back in the wet as i reckon it will be amazing and the difficulty will escalate quickly. Turns out MAXTRAX dont realy like sloppy mud and 42pound in the tyres. The handy snatch strap took care of it though. Ill post more info when we come back but as for this quick easy morning out from Townsville, Queensland it doesnt get much better. See more

05.01.2022 All back at home after an amazing weekend up at Cairns, Queensland, Australia Stayed at the cairns Coconut Big 4. Amazing place especially for the kids. The waterpark the kids had a blast on. Time to relax and prepare for work tomorrow.

04.01.2022 This weekend we decided to take a little day trip out atound charters towers to see about a few camp spots. We found a link to The Big Bend. This place i have been to in the past but a long time ago. I wanted to take the van in there in the future so it was a good recon. Entry is approximately 20km north of Charters Towers. There is a signpost off the Lynd highway which makes life easy. Camping is free and if you are worried about the terrain and lack of toilets then north ap...prox 20km is another camp with toilets. The Bend itself it literally that. The bend in the river, so its not hard to find using your GPS or google maps. One of the vest places in The Big Bend to visit is over the southern part of the bend where There are the vast basalt walls and deep swimming holes. The offroading in here is by no means difficult in nature however go fown onto the sandy river bed and even the best setup can come unstuck in the changing textures and depths. The difficulty is navagating the volcanic rocky outcrops whoch can lead you to a dead end in the soft sand. This time of the year it is very dry in the area however I will be back in the wet season to see what it has to offer as it seems the ground has some soft mud ontop and would offer some slippery fun. Nice waterholes to sit in and some are like spas with the flowing water down the rocks. Wildlife such as ducks and geese I have seen seen as well as cokatoos and kangaroos. Some cattle wander around also. Ill be bringing the van here next time when the weather is not so hot so I look forward to swimming and camping by the river. http://www.visitcharterstowers.com.au/big-bend-echo-hole

03.01.2022 Lake Dalrymple. What a place to wake up. Ventured through Ravenswood on the way back home. The old world charm of this place mixed with the antique buildings and mining relics are amazing. Could have spent all day searching around the area. Will definately be back.

02.01.2022 So found out that the Q2200 Weber Grills fits into a oztrail duffle bag. This will be how it will travel with us from now on. Weber sells bags for the Baby Q and roller bags for the 2200 but not released in Australia as yet. A towel for the grill plates and this bag should make life simple.

01.01.2022 So the last few days have been well spend with an in-law. Yes you heard right. My wifes mum is up for a visit and as usual we like to get out exploring. Another trip up to Parenella Park was in order. Then down through to Lucinda. The home of awesome fishing and a 5.76km sugar warf. This is a sight that need to be seen. Built with the curvature of the earth, wiped out and rebuilt after cyclone yasi. Wanderers caravan park was a welcome stay for the night. Quick walk to the p...ark and shops. Next to the water and views of the jetty. Looks are deceiving here. The toilet block has recently been fully updated. The outside is very 70s but the inside is a modern as it gets. The pool is amazing with a modern outdoor bbq area. The fresh sea breeze flowing all day kept the temps down. Due to the last minute nature we didnt pack fishing gear. In the 17.58 Jayco Starcraft we converted the table into a bed for iur 18month old to allow the bunk to be used for the inlaw. Great to travel with others as it allows you to kearn and improve. Packed slightly different by addidng another adult. Overall a magic time and cant wait till the next outing.
