The true achievement of this event was that it could happen at all with the many challenges we’ve been presented within 2020. ... 21.01.2022 Meet our international judging panel! Jesse Cooney has been in the cheerleading and dance industry for over 25 years. Starting in scholastic cheer, Jesse won many regional, provincial and national championships. ... As Allstar cheerleading began to take over cheerleading in Canada, Jesse joined many elite programs in southern Ontario. From there, he began a choreography career which lead him into professional jobs taking him all over the world. His choreography has appeared in Wild Card, Summit and World Champion routines. As a dancer, Jesse’s work has appeared in live concerts, music videos and most recently, his Freestyle Pom team Velocity which was asked to be Team Canada Performance Cheer in 2020 & 2021. Jesse has been a judge for the sport of Cheerleading & Dance for over 20 years. His career has taken him all over North America, Costa Rica and of courseAustralia! Jesse has been on panels at the highest level in Canada and specialised as a building judge at The Summit. Alex McCarthy Tumble Judge - Dallas, TX Alex McCarthy has 15 years of cheer and dance experience as a coach, choreographer and certified judge around the world. He is a silver medalist at the USASF Worlds and has judged multiple Worlds bid events in the USA, Canada, and Australia. ... Presently, Alex owns and operates the CheerLife App. The app is a social community for cheerleaders and dancers around the world to train, track and compete by tracking actions to become better student athletes. Erin Powers - Scoring Official - USA A native of New York, Erin Powers has been highly involved throughout the Cheerleading and Dance Industry, for over 20 years, as an athlete and head coach for various Scholastic, All-Star, and Collegiate teams. ... Her areas of choreographing and judging expertise developed from the beginning of her UCA Staff and Head Instructor years to coaching a NCAA Collegiate Coed team, All-Star World’s teams, as well as Scholastic National Champions. Erin judged across the U.S. and the world, reaching such amazing countries including England and Canada. She serves as a panel judge in all categories, head judge and stand manager for various brands, as well as in the role of Accuscore/Scoring Official at many national and internationally renowned events. Erin also furthered her career and experience by leading a Varsity brand as the Judging and Scoring Coordinator for three years, as well as facilitating and directing events at the state, regional, and national level. Currently, Erin serves as an Intervention Support Specialist in Virginia, focusing on providing all students with individualized, learning-style centered education to facilitate their success in and out of the classroom. When Erin is not in the classroom or in an arena judging, she is spending time with her own two children who, ironically, are involved in many other sports except cheerleading. Just like in her own life, Erin thrives by the phrase, Life must go on and is very excited and honoured to share the phrase, Cheer must go on with all of you! Angelus Fitzgerald Tumbling Judge - Vancouver Angelus has been an active Cheerleading coach since 2005 and a judge since 2008 in both Cheerleading and Gymnastics. ... He is a Gymnastics Canada Trampoline and Tumbling coach as well as a coach for Team Canada Academy. 05.01.2022 Meet our international judging panel! Gemma Butterly - your Dance Technical Judge & Overall performance judge. Gemma has a 20-year background in all styles of studio dance and Allstar cheerleading/dance in Scotland, gaining National and European championship titles throughout her time as an athlete. ... She has represented her country as an athlete at the ICU World Championships in both Cheer and Dance Divisions and in the IASF Dance divisions. From an athlete, Gemma went on to be a full-time cheer, dance and conditioning coach at an Allstar gym as well as touring Europe as a UCA staff member. Gemma was also a member of the Scottish Rockettes Pro Dance team for 5 seasons and was appointed the Game Day & sideline choreographer Rockette performances. Gemma is currently a personal trainer and also works with the ICU to credential dance coaches throughout the UK. This is her 10th judging season with experience extending throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia and Australia. Working with many different cultures she aims to create a positive competition experience for all athletes and coaches and is passionate about the development and growth of the sport globally. 04.01.2022 Meet our international judging panel! Jerry Ozuna Overall & Dance Judge Texas Jerry Ozuna has had an illustrious career as a cheerleader, dancer and choreographer. With over 15 years of experience, he comes to us from Dallas, Texas where he also cheered and worked for top-notch programs such as Navarro College and Cheer Athletics.... In 2002, Jerry Ozuna was nominated to become NCA’s Top All-American and went on to become the second-best male cheerleader in the country. Today, Jerry has several national titles, 7 globes, & 2 World titles under his belt. He often travels to other countries to judge, train, choreograph and simply spread knowledge & love on the grounds of both cheerleading and dance. Mr. Ozuna is also a highly sought after judge these days. He scored in the top 5% of the country of overall judges and has the ability to reverse engineer the scoresheet as a choreographer. Jerry has been with us 5+ years and we are so glad to have his technical expertise on board. Whether it’s cheerleading or dance - He maintains a strict eye for visuals, transitions and spacing. His style is fast-paced and visually appealing to the viewer with a strong emphasis on originality and creativity. Other strengths include cleanups, fine-tuning, revisions, updating choreography or just to bring a little more spice to your dance section. Jerry Ozuna is always ready! 02.01.2022 Meet our international judging panel! Mia Heitland brings 30 years of cheerleading experience to her role as a judge at this year’s Showdown. She has been an athlete, coach, gym owner and judge. ... Mia is currently a coach at Perfect Storm Athletics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with whom she earned a silver medal at the 2018 ICU worlds for her assistance coaching Jr Team Canada Coed. Mia is a Cheer Canada National Scoring Instructor and a member of the Official’s Development Committee, guiding judges training across the country. Additionally, she is a Varsity-certified judge. Mia has been fortunate enough to judge events across North America. Some of her favourites include the ATC International in Seattle and Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta.
