Marcus Beach bushfire as at 7.20am Tues 10 Sept Bushfire warning level: EMERGENCY WARNING Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire approaching Peregian Beach, Peregian Breeze Estate and Marcus Beach. Leaving immediately is the safest option, as it will soon be too dangerous to drive. Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a plan, your safest option is to leave immediately if it is clear to do so. If you cannot leave, identify where you will seek shelter from the bushfire. If you are not in the area, do not return, as conditions are too dangerous. Currently as at 7.20am Tuesday 10 September, a fast-moving fire is travelling in a north, north westerly direction from Peregian Beach and Peregian Breeze Estate. It is heading towards Marcus Beach. The fire is expected to have a significant impact on the community. Peregian Beach and Marcus Beach residents should evacuate in a northerly direction towards Noosa. Residents of Peregian Breeze Estate should evacuate in a southerly direction along Sunshine Motorway towards the Nambour Showgrounds on Coronation Avenue, Nambour, or Fishermans Road Multi Sports Centre at 108 Fishermans Road, Maroochydore. Evacuation centres are open for people travelling north at the Cooroy Library, 9 Maple Street, Cooroy and the Noosa Leisure Centre, Wallace Drive, Noosaville. Conditions are now very dangerous and firefighters may soon be unable to prevent the fire advancing. The fire may pose a threat to all lives directly in its path. Fire crews may not be able to protect your property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door: act now. Power, water, and mobile phone service may be lost and road conditions may become very dangerous over the next several hours. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you are under threat. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates. Put on protective clothing (e.g., a long-sleeved cotton shirt, boots with thick soles). Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by. If you are leaving: Secure your pets for safe transport. Check for road closures and then advise family and friends of your intended travel route. Take your important documents and essential items (e.g., passports, birth certificates, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing) when you leave. Drive with caution in low visibility conditions. If you are unable to leave: Bring pets inside; restrain them with a leash, a cage, or inside a secure room; and provide them with plenty of water. Fill containers such as your bath, sinks, and buckets with water so you have access to drinking water and firefighting water. Close windows and doors, sealing the gaps under doors and screens with wet towels to keep smoke out of the house. Identify a safe spot to shelter in, which would be a place with more than one exit, preferably inside a brick building, away from windows and doors. The safest spot is the place that will keep you furthest away from the intense heat from the fire. As the fire approaches and passes, the safest spot will change, so be ready to move. Evacuation centres have been... set up at The J Theatre Noosa and Coolum Beach Surf Club. Queensland Police: The declaration was made at 7:08pm under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act. The declared zone is bounded by Old Emu Mountain Road, David Low Way, the Sunshine Coast Motorway and Podargus Parade. Police are urging residents within the area to self-evacuate and for anyone outside the zone to avoid travel to the area. 09.01.2022 The Prime Minister has just announced further financial support for Australian’s and New Zealanders on 444 Visa’s. Job Keeper Payment The new job keeper payment is available from today and will see the government subsidise wages of $1,500 per fortnight PER employee for the next 6 months. This payment will be made directly to the employer and is enforceable BY LAW. The ATO will be monitoring payments to ensure they are being passed onto the employees. Employers can register ...for this payment for ALL of their staff who are eligible from today by visiting the ATO website. Eligible employees are those who were full time or part time as well as casual employees who have been employed for 12 months or more and also includes sole traders. The payment is available to ANY business who has suffered a downturn in revenue of 30% or more. It is available to people who are STILL working and your employer may pay more wages on top of the $750 per week payment if applicable. It is also available to ANY employee who was stood down after the 1st March. Employers are now able to re-hire those staff and can register them to be paid $750 per week for the next 6 months. Payments will begin to employers on the 1st May, however will be backdated to today’s date. Employer’s can continue to pay wages during the next 4 weeks with the assurance that this money will be in their hand on the 1st May. This is in addition to the package below, emailed last Monday, however you cannot receive the job seeker AND the job keeper allowance at the same time. If you have already applied for the job seeker allowance, please contact your employer ASAP and you are able to transition over to the job keeper allowance if this is going to suit your circumstances better. Extensions to Job Seeker Payment In addition to the new job keeper payment, the government have also announced an extension to the job seeker payment. Previously, you may have not been eligible if your partner earned $48,000 per annum or more. This threshold has now been raised to $79,762 per annum, effectively making the job seeker allowance available to more people. Changes in tenancy legislation is still being discussed in the National Cabinet meetings and further information regarding this will be communicated once known.
