14.01.2022 INDONESIA - Cenderwasih Its a divisive situation this one - many people believe that feeding the Whale sharks is creating dependence and in that there is much truth. However the flip side of this of course is that for the local fisherman their tradition has been to eat the Whale sharks or sell them as product. Educating the locals that these magnificent marine mammals are more valuable alive is a goal worth attaining by any means. Lets just hope that in the future the feeding can stop and the respect and livlihood stays.
