25.01.2022 Aaaaaa, Spring. This warm weather is just the bees knees! The colour that associates with the Wood Element is the colour green - my fav! So get those green clothes on, chuck on a green scarf, colour your hair as an iso dare, wear green undies! I also love to stuff green coloured crystals into my bra and pockets for an extra bit of mystical goodness!... This is great time of the year to really work on nourishing your Wood (get it out of your head you filthy thing) and making sure it is strong yet flexible. Nourish the Liver and Gallbladder energies by eating more green foods! Lots of leafy greens, lots of veg, sour green apples, sprouts, pistachios! Keep it cooks and warm - stay off the green smoothies, especially if you are suffering from hay-fever, PMS with irritability, stiff neck and shoulders, painful periods, strained/dry eyes. If you have green powders - add them into your eggs for breakfast instead! It is also looking like there will be some good news by the end of the week re: acupuncture treatments. No holding your breath, but as soon as I know, don't you worry, everyone will know!! Amazing drawing by @maggiecoledraws See more

25.01.2022 ~Foot baths~ I will never stop suggesting these. Ever. Causing circulation of blood and Qi around the feet and ankles is another way you can help with menstrual health. Many, and I mean many, Acupoints on the feet and around the ankles help with the Wood, Water, and Earth Elements, and are used a whole heap when addressing menstrual issues.... No need to be fancy, I love to keep things simple, otherwise it becomes all too hard and won't get done. Get yourself a bucket that will fit your feet flat and can be filled so the water sits over your ankles. Use warm to hot water - careful not to burn yourself - and soak them feet of your before you go to bed. Make this a part of your night time routine. 15 minutes is all it takes. Don't sit your feet in there until the water is cold - Cold = not good Warm = best Dry your feet properly and then pop on some socks and off to sleep you go. If you are having menstrual issues, try this for a cycle. See the change it can make! See more

24.01.2022 How's that sleep of yours going? Is this you are 12am? 3am? 5am? Lying there, contemplating the world and it's issues? Or just thought-less and dreaming of being asleep? The lockdowns and restrictions has caused so much stress and change to normal behaviours, that of course other normal occurrences start to be flung out of whack. Happens to the best of us! There are so many reasons why sleep might not occur and Chinese Medicine has answers to why they might be happening.... But one hint I can give for now is to start looking at your sleep hygiene Set a bed time and stick to it Set a wake up time and stick to it No screens of any sort minimum 30 minuets before you go to bed (definitely no screens in the bed room) Soak your feet in hot water 10 minutes before you go to sleep Make sure that your room is dark. I have more Chinese Med ways of helping with sleep, as well as amazing Chinese herbs and Naturopathic supps to bring that sleep on. Still around for Telehealth/Zoom consults and getting closer to being able to do face to face treatments again (YYYAAASSSSS!!!) @shagey_ amazing artwork - love this stuff!

23.01.2022 A little bit of scar work! The technique used on scars is called Surround the Dragon . Yep, thats right. Acupuncturist and Dragon chaser! Thats me! . . The point of this technique is to direct Qi (energy) into the area where the object that is no longer desired to kill it like you would want to kill a dragon . Poor dragon. But also, get lost scar! What to see how it all works? Come find me @zhongcentre snaring mystical creatures . . .... . #acupuncture #cosmeticacupuncture #guasha #tcm #traditionalchinesemedicine #traditionalmedicine #health #healthmedicine #natural #naturalmedicine #naturally #feelgood #period #womenshealth #healthy #melbourne #melbourneaustralia #chinesemedicine #scar #scartissue #scarrepair #dragon #dragons #surroundthedragon #mystical #mystic #creature See more

23.01.2022 A repost from @qi_medicine_acupuncture Are you every felt like you’re not being listened to? How often do you feel listened to when you have to speak to your doctor about period pain? ... Do you get good responses? Maybe you have a doctor who has kept up with modern research or who may have a uterus themselves? Or do you find yourself hobbling out of the clinic with a prescription for a pain killer that you can’t drive on, a prescription for birth control regardless if you are trying to stop pregnancy or not, and medical cert for that one day of work you missed even though you feel like you need a week off. Rest up. Yep, thanks. When issues arise around the uterus and surrounding reproductive and sexual organs, it is no longer just as small as a stubbed toe or a toothache. Pain that lasts for minutes, for hours, for days. Inability to move into any other shape than foetal. Accompanying signs and symptoms that debilitate you, headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. And not to mention the physiological and emotional side. Having these uncontrollable feelings of anger, saddens, low self esteem, hatred, frustrations, oh man the frustration, all the while being labeled as a ‘moody bitch’ or nastily being asked if you are on your ‘rags’ again. Women and people who bleed are constantly misdiagnosed or told that the pain is ‘all in their head’ or that they have a ‘low pain threshold’. Please. What is the saying? Anything you can do, I can do better. Well pain might be common, but it isn’t normal, and I'd love to help those who are experiencing pain each month. Think of me as your personal menstruation coach! 23.01.2022 Being grounded, both physically and spiritually, is something that can help us feel in control, let us be firm in our decisions, and able to tackle anything life throws us. But where are our heads at? You could be doing yoga over online meetings twice a day, smudging your personal space and yourself with sage every week, running around within your 5km radius, syncing with the female essence of the Moon and Masculinity energy of the sun, finally learning how to do pushups, ...or giving up offerings to Persephone - begging her to come back early so Spring can start already damnit! I am here for all of that, but we want to be holistic right? Well that includes your mental health. Yes exercise, eating well, putting up boundaries, looking after yourself in ways that makes you happy all contributes to healthy minds. But boy, is it cray out there at the moment, and it is so ok to get some extra help. Did you know that the Mental Health Plan you can grab from your GP can be done through telehealth? And that all your mental health appointments are done over Zoom? You know what that means? You can wear your most comfiest clothes ever because you don't even have to leave your couch! My idea of health care! And you can talk about whatever you like, you can go as deep into your past and your feelings as you please. These are trained professionals who have a tool box full of amazing hints and tips to help you out when we need it most! Highly recommend! If you need a referral to one or a few, let me know! DM me here or give Zhong a call on 0481 825 525. So keep doing your spiritual and physical stuff! I've been diffusing essential oils, doing jumprope out the back, repotting (and buying ) indoor plants, keeping up with the Moon, flailing round on the floor trying to go yoga, soaking my feet, and walking to get treats from the cafe down the road. AND I have been talking to a mental health practitioner. No shame here. No judgment. It's the least I can do to make sure I am here for all of you, especially face to face when I get back in 5 weeks (who's counting?)!! Online Zoom me if you need some extra help!! I've got my home office set up and ready to go! @shagey_ See more

23.01.2022 If you struggle talking all things then youre going to feel a bit weird when you have a treatment with me. I want to know all about your poo. Frequency, colour, consistency, if there is an urgency, pain, blood, mucous, do you fart heaps, and if there is undigested food present. Why must I go in depth? Well, what comes out of your bod is a great indication of what is going inside it. Your bowel health is indicative of your gut health. Good gut health, good generally health,... good mental health. It all fits together. . . Your poops are meant to be once a day, fully formed, colour will depend on the foods you are eating (ever had heaps of beetroot? Try it out, its like painting!), have no major urgency, no pain, and no blood or mucous. Obviously the amount will depend on how much you have eaten.. . . In Chinese Medicine, the Metal energy consists of the Lungs and the Large Intestines. Physically, they both excrete stuff from your bod, air up above, poos down below. A little more spiritually (woo woo you may call it) these two organs really suffer from when a person doesnt let go. Short, shallow breathing becomes normal and trips to the toilet are a day or even many days between each other. Of course youre bloated, you literally have crap inside of you. Sometimes, however, it goes the other way, running to the toilet 2-7 times a day is your daily exercise. This can happening when high levels of stress arent monitored and looked after. The Wood energy (that angry bloody Liver energy) rises up into the Metal energy really affect the Lungs, the Qi in the chest constricts, causing the bowels to become unruly and live what they think is their best life. Excreting poo is what they love to do. But close calls are no fun. . . Acu can help with sorting out that Metal energy that is running too slow or running too fast. I can show you TuiNa massage that you can do on yourself between sessions, plus I have some tips to help out balancing that Metal so your poops are regular and plain easy to do. More posts to come on home tips!! And dont be embarrassed if I delve into your shit. Its the best fun when we get it back to normal! Just call me your acuPOOturist See more

22.01.2022 Announcement time (yes there has been plenty of swearing) From today onwards, I will be stopping all face to face treatments for my clients. This is after days of back and forth with my association, the Vic Government, and the DHHS, plus my own decision as a practitioner to how I want to manage risk during Stage 4 restrictions. Unfortunately this means I won't be able to see any of your beautiful faces in person for 6 weeks, or until Stage 4 is lifted. ... Care will not stop though. I can still do online bookings, where we can go over your herbs and make sure you have the right supplements to help you out while I am unable to pin you. Knowing how much this is all affecting us, I get it, it bloody sucks, remember that you can get in contact with me here, via email at [email protected] and on 0478 717 228. Some other helpful phone numbers if you are feeling completely overwhelmed and swearing at the top of your lungs just ain't cutting it are: Lifeline - 13 11 14 and Beyond Blue - 1300 224 636. 10 extra appointments are also available on all mental health plans. Use these, they are a wonderful resource! Hacks of the Chinese variety on how to manage sleep, digestion, periods, stress, and all other things will be available on my socials! I will be appearing more on this platform and I have some other online ideas brewing - so watch this space! I am still here for you. Thank you for your patience and thank you for your understanding. Get yourself booked for the second half of September now so we can get back into full swing with the restrictions are lifted and please swear your heads off as much as you need! (Read the first letter of every paragraph and that's the best way to explain how I feel! Hehehe) See more

22.01.2022 Oooo, these warm, sunny, spring days have me like So a little update for all those playing at home (which is you Victoria - I see you all). We all know about the extensions and the new roadmap that has come into play. And it looks like the current restrictions of healthcare for Acupuncturists is going to be staying around until the 27th of September. So once again, this means that no routine treatments allowed for the time being.... There has also been chat about this going all the way through till the 25th of October, BUT, I have received information from my association and they, and many other allied health associations, are in discussions with the DHHS to help us find a way in which we can get back to seeing our clients routinely that keeps everyone safe. So, if you have an appointment with me booked for the next 2 weeks, you will be hearing from our Super Women Christa and Alice from the clinic over the next couple of days, to get you booked in for either an online consult or for sometime soon in the close future. If you need more herbs and supplements (which I know some of you do - don't get slack with your homework!). I will keep you all updated as soon as I know more. I am sorry this is how it has ended up for your healthcare situation. If anything, after we get through all this, I can guarantee there will be more practitioners like me fighting to have Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine recognised further in Australia's medical system. But till then, get out and get your sunshine, if you are living alone, set up your social bubble which can start on Monday, do your foot baths still, and practice that deep breathing. Oh and stop looking at stuff on social media and the news that is upsetting you. Memes and funny videos all the way please. Doctor orders! See more

21.01.2022 Time to do some Anti Runny Guts massage. Two of these points help to strengthen the Earth element which can be a major culprit in loose bowels, if the Earth energy is deficient. And one is a massage technique which is literally just the opposite to the constipated one. . . Ok, lets go. Slide 1. Acupoint ST36 - ZuSanLi aka Legs Three Mile. By far my most used Acupoint in clinic. This is the guy that will zing and buzz when the pin goes in. Using all four fingers, place a f...lat palm under your knee. Where your last finger lands, on the outer part of the leg, youll find a big ol dip. Press in and massage in small clockwise circles. At least 5 mins, each leg. Go! Slide 2. Abdomen massage. Flat hand, use your palm to push with a soft to medium pressure in an ANTI-clockwise motion around your belly button. If you can do this for 100 times without your arm from falling off, go for it! But 30 rotations is a good starting point. Slide 3. SanYinJiao - translates to Three Yin Intersection. The 3 Yin channels of the legs (Spleen, Kidney, Liver) all run over this point and it is just a marvellous point - IMPORTANT - those who are pregnant or may be pregnant DO NOT massage this point. Its one traditionally used to induce labour - so no touchy unless youre not pregnant or you are ready to pop out bub(s)! Starting from the inside of your ankle, lay you palm flat. Where your last finger lands, is how high the point is located, and its in a big just off of your shin bone. This one can hurt. But once again, no pain, no gain. Massage in small clockwise circles with your fingers for 3 mins each leg. . . Drink warm water, eat warm food, keep your feet and legs warm, do your acupressure, come get Acu and some Chinese herbs, and try to eat regularly and mindfully (thats a tough one, but even if you can find some routine at the moment, grab it!) @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia See more

20.01.2022 The Zen is glowing bright in this treatment! . . How many sessions of Cosmetic Acupuncture do you need? Well, how long is a piece of string? We are all so different and we have all looked after our skin in different ways. I will take in consideration your age, your use of sunscreen, your hydrating habits, your skincare routine, your eating habits, and your stress levels. I always recommend starting with one treatment per week for a minimum of six weeks. Once these 6 weeks a...re up, we will reassess together. I might decide that you need a couple more weekly treatments. You might decide that you want to keep your weekly treatments! Most likely you are able to drop down to fortnight or monthly treatments, with some of my clients popping in every couple of months for a top up! . . You can also help in between sessions by taking your herbs and doing the homework set. You will notice that your Glow will be around much longer if you do. We must work together to reach your skin goals! See more

19.01.2022 Did you know that your nails are a diagnostic tool for us Chinese Medicine Practitioners? The health of those little keratin slabs at the end of your fingers and toes can reflect a whole heap on how your Wood Element is holding up - especially the Yin aspect of the Wood Element. The Liver in Chinese Medicine theory holds your Blood. The Blood should smoothly circulate through the body, through the internal and external meridians (channels), making sure all parts of your be...autiful bod of yours are nourished by this Blood, especially your eyes, sinews, neck and shoulders, temporal area on the head, and your nails - as the Liver particularly looks after these areas! If you don't have enough Liver Blood energy, your nails won't be doing so well!! Brittle nails, that are dry and just break so easy or maybe don't grow well are some good indications (along with pulse and tongue diagnosis) that you're low on your important Liver Blood! So how does one become low on Liver Blood?? Diet is a big one. Blood energy is boosted through the consumption of red meat (not fish/chicken/pork) and certain grains. So if you are a low carb, vego/vegan - I would suggest getting some bone broth or carbs back into your diet - barley and white rice (yep - not that brown rice stuff) are a good start. Emotional stress is another and boy have we all had a rollercoaster of emotions and stress this year. Anger, frustration, sadness, and envy that is bottled up and not processed can drain the Liver, stopping it from being able to store your Blood. Over exercise - I know a lot of people are super excited for gyms to be back open and great! We need to move our bods however we can to make us feel ah-mazing! But you can over do it. So don't take it steady, you have your whole life to exercise, do what you need to and remember to rest! Loss of blood. For those of us who bleed and give birth, loss of actual blood will deplete the Liver. If your periods have been super heavy for ages then Liver blood can be depleted. So make sure you look out for signs of Liver Blood deficiency. You can always ask me if you need confirming! Rest up and look after that Wood Element!! See more

19.01.2022 Oh my heart! The major Yin organ of the Fire Element is the Heart. The Heart is known as the Emperor of your body as it rules over the other organs of the body. It is also deemed as the most important organ of your body in Chinese Med and needs to be protected at all costs! This wonderful organ is where Chinese Medicine theory believes your Shen is stored. Your Shen is your mental functions, thoughts and thinking, your mental health, vitality, awareness of self, insi...ght, memory and joined with the spiritual aspect of the Wood Element, the Hun (see previous posts), it is your consciousness. Which is in some cases, Shen is translated to 'Mind'. Your Heart rules the Blood energy in your body and governs the blood vessels. The Qi (energy) that is found in your chest is responsible for the movement of your the Heart (the heartbeat) as well as the movement of your Lungs. It is the Qi that aids the movement of blood around the vessels. With these two attributes being the most important the Heart does so much more: Opens into the tongue and controls speech Manifests in your complexion (flushed faces or no colour? Let's check in on your Heart!) Helps with sleep and along with the Hun it is involved in dreams Controls sweating Relates to joy Can't wait to deep dive into this wonderful aspect of the body more and more this season! See more

18.01.2022 4% sperm morphology is within range, but is that enough? I hear of many cases in clinic where my fertility client's partner has been told his sperm is good, gre...at, or even perfect. Now, I don't want to be the one who bursts your bubble, buuuuuttt the sperm count and quality might NOT actually be that good. The GP and fertility specialists are comparing your partner's count to the sperm ranges set by the World Health Organisation, and these ranges are low. Let's use morphology for an example. A healthy morphology of a sperm is a nice shaped head that can penetrate the egg and a tail that makes the cell swim forward. Sometimes, sperm cells are created with rounded heads, 3 tails, no heads, no tails, all the sorts of issues that aren't going to cause conception. When a semen analysis comes back with 4% morphology, that means that 96% of all the sperm cells are odd shaped! 96!! Look at it this way, if you had a bunch of 100 grapes, at 4% morphology, you have 4 pretty good grapes. But 96 of them are rotten. Would you eat those 4 grapes? Or would you discard that bunch and work to growing a better, healthier bunch of grapes, where you have more amazing grapes?? The higher the morphology the better! Even if you are going through the IVF process and are using ICSI, wouldn't you rather the embryologist to pick out an amazing sperm from a great bunch? Or an ok sperm out of a bad bunch? Remember, male fertility is JUST as important as your fertility. Sperm counts are declining at an alarming rate, so it is more likely we will be working with men more often in clinic to help with these decreasing numbers. So, semen analysis come back 'good' but still not pregnant? 18.01.2022 When everything out of our control is tipsy-turvy, we can help ourselves by bringing in routine. I may sound like a broken record by now, but get on the foot bath train with me! If you are soaking your feet for 10-15mins before you jump into bed, that is a perfect time to switch all screens off, maybe grab an amazing book, or do some deep breathing. This is good sleep hygiene. This prepares your body and mind for sleep. ... We believe in Chinese Medicine that the hot water will bring your Qi (energy) away from your head (calming the mind) as we all as warming up and circulating Qi through the points on the feet and ankles. Lots of these points that are submerged are great for hormone stuff, stress stuff, energy stuff. So if you are anxious, stressed, not sleeping (hello Melbourne), get yourself a bucket big enough for your tootsies and soak in hot water - please don't burn yourself. You can be fancy, like this picture, add salts, dried flowers, smells. Or do what I do, keep it simple (some read lazy, I say sufficient), just hot water and my feet. Dry your feet off, chuck on socks, get into bed, sleep. Perfect way to help ground you will it feels life is upside down! See more

18.01.2022 Firstly - how do you gorgeous creatures out there take selfies while wearing a face sheet mask without looking like youre trying to re-enact the Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Secondly - hands up if you are blasting your heating at home because, well, its freezing here in Melbs, and you have noticed that you are becoming drier than a camels backside? Warm = excellent! Dry, not so good. We have these amazing hydrating masques @zhongcentre made with Chinese Herbs, that soak a...ll their goodness into your skin! Whether you are coming in for a General Health or a Cosmetic sesh, $15 and Ill pop one of these bad boys on for you, to help combat that dryness! . Extra hints for hydration during the colder months..Drink your water hot. Pretend you have run out of teabags and you feel bad for boiling the kettle - that kind of hot (read - buy/find your thermos and carry that around in place of the cold water bottle). Sip throughout the day, guzzling your water will just pass right through you (and if you listen to me, will be bloody hot. Dont burn yourself pls). If you are finding that you are rushing to the bathroom with all this extra water going in, start your day off with a teeny tiny pinch of sea salt into your first cup of hot water. The salt will penetrate into the Water elements meridians (Kidney and Bladder) and help to balance our that urgency to pee out your precious fluids! Stay moist! @ Zhong Centre See more

18.01.2022 Hot tip - one way to preserve you Jing (Essence) Socks. Yep. Socks. ... Your Kidney meridian starts on the sole of your foot. If you are constantly walking bare foot on tiles, floor boards, concrete, and other cool surfaces at home, you are allowing Cold to enter the body through this meridian. What does cold do? Well it slows everything down. Cold constricts your Qi, you energy, slowing the its movement around the body. Low energy, sluggish thinking, motivation levels dropping. Cold can also constrict our Xue (Blood) energy, and when the free flow of Xue is constricted dull, aching pain may occur, be it in the muscles, our joints, during our periods, or after we eat. And one quick fix to stop Cold from entering our bodies, put a layer between your foot and the ground. That easy. Add slippers for extra protection. And when going outside during Winter, wear socks with your shoes please. It's Winter. Sandals and thongs will have plenty of time to be worn during the warmer seasons. Oh, and I hear you 'I get sweaty feet' people. Now this may sound counter productive, but if you get sweaty feet, try soaking them for 10 minuets each night in a hot foot bath for a week and see how less sweaty your feet become. The only time I will growl at you in clinic. Keep them feet warm!! See more

18.01.2022 Wedding prep! . . Needing to get that dewy glow so my makeup sits like an absolute boss later on. So many active peptides!), followed by some tiny needles to lift, tighten, and plump up my skin! .... . Perfect routine before a special event! I bloody love weddings!! See more

18.01.2022 Let's chat self care real quick. 'Self-care' has almost become a catchphrase that many companies are starting to capitalise on. 'Buy this to help with self care' 'Come in here to do your self care'... 'This is what is needed for self care' Self care is really all about what you do to help yourself and make you feel good. It is something that goes on top of your other appointments for health care, beauty care, mental health care, socialising. It shouldn't have to cost you any money if you don't want it to, or it could be the most expensive activity you spend money on if you please! It just has to be something that you do, for yourself, that makes you feel so good. With no feelings of guilt afterwards. Reading a book, watching a TV show, breathing, meditating, taking a bath, exercising, laying on the floor still, getting sexy with yourself, baking, making and creating things, walking, hanging with your pet, or in my case sticking needles in my face. Add your self care in, because sometimes, even when you are out sourcing all your care to other professionals, you can end up being your worst enemy by not looking after yourself between appointments. So get caring, however you feel! And don't get sucked in to having to spend heaps of money on your self care if you don't wanna! See more

16.01.2022 Cosmetic Acupuncture, Facial Acupuncture, Beauty Acupuncture, call it what youd like, but let me tell you, the Glow you get along side all the Zen, youll be calling it your favourite appointment of the week! Chatting in my last post about how plenty of Liver Blood energy ensures healthy nails, it also has a part to play in keeping the skin healthy too. When you come in for a treatment, your Acupuncturist is constantly observing you (yeah, were watching you ), and we can s...ee if your skin is a little dry, if your skin is more pale than usual, and if you have a red flush in your cheeks that didnt appear due to all the stairs into our clinic. . . Using points on the body before I start with the little Kisses or Glow (the needles are so tiny!) on your face, I can help nourish and boost that Liver Blood to make sure it gets to your skin, nails, and tendons. 16.01.2022 Time for a little reassurance! Now that we are in Stage 3 of lockdowns in Victoria, there is a bit of confusion as to what is an essential service and what isnt. One thing I can clear up for you today is that allied health practices ARE essential. Thats me. Im a registered allied health practitioner. Why would we be deemed essential? Well, while the health system is being inundated by some real heavy crap at the moment, allied health practices can help continue to keep you... healthy without putting more strain on GPs and other medical professionals. So yes! Good news! Im still practicing. I have some pretty strict guidelines from my associations (AACMA and CMBA) to stick to, but that also means I have some guidelines I need your help with, to ensure I run a safe space for all. How you can help!! - If you are sick: If you have any of the symptoms that relate to COVID-19, a dry cough, a fever, a sore throat, or shortness of breath, please do not come to the clinic. Give us a call on 0481 825 525 we can organise an online Zoom consult for you, where your tongue will be looked at, questions asked, and herbs couried to your door. - Wash those hands! 15.01.2022 Right now it may seem, that even though we are in our own homes, because weve cut down the amount of hours at work, or weve lost our jobs completely, or we are the lucky ones who can work from home, we are being bombarded on our socials to increase our expectations of ourselves regardless of the life changing pandemic going on outside. Set routines, do exercise, cook complex meals from scratch, start that side hustle, learn a language, do these online courses, sort out your... issues with your partner/family, take up painting, learn how to make clothes, navigate TikTok and become TikTok famous, do extra exercise, learn how to draw, start clean eating. Urgh, staph. . . There are a group of people out there in our world who need to move, need to hustle, and need to keep improving - and thats totally ok. These are their coping methods, I see you, and youre doing great. For most people, dealing with a crisis like C19 has thrown us into a spiral and that is completely normal. During this time it is ok to just survive. Yes, exercise and eating foods that nourish you (especially foods nourish that Earth and Metal energy) is important, but to overload ourselves with all these goals that may just be a little ridiculous while we try our best to navigate our mental health can be overwhelming. We are all ready so overwhelmed. So lets go easy on ourselves. If the worst thing to happen to you during this pandemic is that you put on some weight (or what I like to call it, a quaran-tum) youre doing so well. Perfectly well. Remember that weight doesnt always equal fitness or overall health. And for those of us who carry uteruses inside of our abdomens, that little pooch is protecting it for us. I know youre going to get up and move around, we are all trying to get out of our homes safely somehow, love a 30min walk around the block! . . So have a little look into some body positive stuff for your socials to bombard you instead of all this fitspo. @i_weigh @bodyposipanda #bodypositivity . Many counselling and psychology services have also moved online, access them, they are invaluable in a time like this. Look after yourself. Eat, rest, be kind. See more

14.01.2022 Blissing out here! The Zen is strong in this one! Best part? I have pins all over my bod helping to manipulate my hormones to stop me from being such a crabby jerk before I start bleeding . . PMS can be the pits. Sometimes we are so aware of it. Other times, its not until we are halfway through eating a Woolies mud cake with a fork, weeping over PetRescue.com because so many cats and dogs dont have a loving home, simultaneously fuming about how shit humans are because so ...many cats and dogs dont have a home*, does our brain finally put the puzzle together. That or you start to bleed . . A mix of Blood energy deficiency, Liver energy Yin deficiency, Qi and Blood energy stagnation, and many other bizarre sounding reasons are the cause of PMS according to Chinese Med. Even if you and your 5 gals pals suffer from it, you may all suffer from a different types depending on your constitutions, pulses, and tongue presentation. Remember, these are individualised treatments by nature . . PMS is common. But it doesnt have to be something you need to deal with every month. With acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and a bit of Traditional Chinese dietary advice, I can soothe that angry Wood element, nurture that sad Metal element, and nourish that anxious Fire element. And you can still get your face did too. Absolute bloody luxury before the blood arrives! . . *this may or may not be a situation I have been in before See more

13.01.2022 TCM Dietary Info part 3 of 3 A couple of last little food thangs.... Chinese Dietary theory also includes eating seasonly and in colour with the seasonal element.... 12.01.2022 What made me become an Acupuncturist? Well, back in the day (nearly 11 years ago), I was a flight attendant for the always-on-time, never-let-you-down, Jetstar. I worked domestically for around 2 years and it was during this time I started having a heap of issues with my ears. Couldn't pop them, lots of pain. I was actually left in Perth one time since it was too sore to fly home! My Mum recommended me to go see an Acupuncturist to see if she could help. Her name was al...so Dr Alice (coincidence??) and she helped with the pain, but unfortunately, since the tubes that help equalise the pressure were too small, only surgery could fix it for a long term affect. However, this Acupuncturist also helped with other stuff going on. We spoke about working on my period pain and this is when I was first introduced to Chinese herbs! I didn't want the surgery and so quit my flying gig. A new career was on the horizon and I was so blown away by Chinese Medicine I gave it a whirl (aka went through a crazy amount of time at Uni) and fell in love! I still hope that one day I can get over to China and do a little stint in their Chinese Medicine hospitals. It is on the goal list! I appreciate this medicine so much! It has taught me so many different ways to approach life and I love how down to Earth (and nature) and how slow it all is. Especially in a day and age where we are go, go, go! I do miss flying sometimes. It was pretty funny. I have a few good stories if you ever want to hear them! See more

12.01.2022 Preserving Prenatal Jing (Essence) - another hot tip! Take time out of your day to slow down. This advice can be pretty easy to read and then kind of ignore, but to slow down is to preserve Essence. Classical Chinese text has banged on for years about how Essence can 'leak' from our bodies and overworking is one way this leakage can occur!... Overworking is a broad statement used to describe overworking in a physical sense (this includes too much exercise), overworking your mind (at work, taking work home with you, studying), and overworking in sexual activity (yep too much sex - is there such a thing??). For now let's leave the sex chat and focus on overworking physically and over thinking. This causes your Essence to be worn down. All that precious prenatal Jing *swoosh* out the window. Slowing down can be done a few ways. You may have even heard of mindfullness or achieving a work/life balance. People slow down in all different ways. Yoga, meditation, walking through the park all rugged up against the cold. It can seem so simple, but unless we put it into practice, we won't develop a habit or pattern of slowing down. Instead, we get used to being busy and used to always over thinking. Urgh! Tiring. What happens to us when our lovely Jing leaks from our lovely bodies? Poor concentration, low libido (boooo!), premature greying of our hair, poor memory, lower back aches, and a possible problems with all things fertility. So let's brainstorm some slowing down ideas. What helps you and more importantly MAKES you slow down? Walking? Yoga? Stretching? Want to know my fav way of slowing down (and again, I repeat), foot baths. Start doing an evening foot bath before bed. While you soak your feet, let's use this time to take your body from the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze) to its parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) by this simple breath work. Deep belly breath in - count to 4 Hold that breath - count to 2 Exhale that breath, all of it - count to 6 Repeat till calm Allow that bod and mind of yours to slow down. You deserve it. You don't have to be hustling and proving crap to no one. Look after yourself!! See more

12.01.2022 Slight read ahead How often do you feel listened to when you have to speak to your doctor about period pain? Do you get good responses, maybe you have a doctor who has kept up with modern research or who may have a uterus themselves? Or do you find yourself hobbling out of the clinic with a prescription for a pain killer that you can't drive on, a prescription for birth control regardless if you are trying to stop pregnancy or not, and a medical cert for that one day of wo...rk you missed even though you feel like you need a week off. Rest up. Yep, thanks. When issues arise around the uterus and surrounding reproductive and sexual organs, it is no longer just as small as a stubbed toe or a toothache. Pain that lasts for minutes, for hours, for days. Inability to move into any other shape than fetal. Accompanying signs and symptoms that debilitate you, headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. And not to mention the physiological and emotional side. Having these uncontrollable feelings of anger, saddens, low self esteem, hatred, frustrations, oh man the frustration, all the while being labeled as a 'moody bitch' or nastily being asked if you are on your 'rags' again. Women's health has been around as long as women have walked, but the light that needs to shine on it is only just pointing in our direction. Gabrielle Jackson points out that "For much of documented history, women have been excluded from medical and science knowledge production, so essentially weve ended up with a healthcare system, among other things in society, that has been made by men for men". Health issues such as endometriosis has generally been dismissed as 'just normal pain'. I'm sorry, period pain may be common, but it sure is not normal. 'Have a baby, that'll fix the pain', great, so we have to fulfill what is seen as a women's role so that we can live a pain free life? Perfect for those who want or can have a baby. Are you going to tell a 17 year old girl that? No, of course not, just whack her on an oral contraceptive, which has a pamphlet inside the box with a huge list of side effects. Band-aid solution. Good. *continued in comments*

12.01.2022 Try this. Take 5 minutes out of your day, set a timer. Sit, lay down, whatever is comfy. Allow yourself to relax and take a deep ol breath in while counting to 4. Fill that cute belly of yours. Hold your breath for the count of 2. Then slowly exhale that breath, to the count of 6. Exhale all of it. Empty those lungs. Repeat. . . As its autumn, its important to look after our Metal element. Deep and slow breath work helps the Lungs descend Qi. When Qi descends inwards it go...es towards the internal organs, allowing for proper Qi distribution, body fluid metabolism, and diffusion. If youre finding it hard, thats ok, its practice. Keep trying, just 5 minutes. If you are really struggling to get that breath going deep (maybe also have lower back pain, knee pain, low libido, cold arms and legs, and issues with urination), do this exercise while soaking your feet in hot salty water. The Water element needs to pitch in and come up and grab that Qi to help pull it down. Team work. Plus how goods a foot bath. . . Breathing deeply and slowly is not possible all day long, but we can start catching ourselves when we are breathing too shallowly. Support your Metal element! See more

11.01.2022 Alright my backed-up baes! This is for you. My run-to-the-toilet-all-the-time cuties stay tuned, Ill have tips on how to hold your crap together on another day. . . Constipation is no fun. Not passing a stool for a day or several days can get you feeling sluggish, tired, and bloated. Oh boy, that bloat! Straining to get out hard, pebbly poops can also cause so many issues down there. Haemorrhoids, tears, pain. Nah, Ill pass (pun intended). .... . Acupucnture and Chinese Herbs offer relief by allowing the Metal element to let go, literally, direct Qi to the bowels to promote movement, and in some cases, allowing Yin to penetrate and moisten the bowel (straight from the text book). But there is poop homework you can do, more advice in other posts to come, but massage - TuiNa, is Chinese Med Pros call it - is a fantastic way to help move that stool!! . . Time for a lesson! Slide 1. Acupoints ST25 - TianShu aka Heavens Pivot (cool name). Grab your index and middle finger and place against the boarder of your belly button. On the same level as the middle of your belly button you will find this point. Massage it! Ouch? Yeah ouch. No pain no gain. A good medium to hard pressure and in small clockwise circles. 2 minutes - go! Slide 2. Acupoint TE6 - ZhiGou aka Branch Ditch (ok not so cool name). Grab all four fingers - not ya thumb - and lay them flush with where you wrist bends. Your index finger will be where the point is, press between the radius and ulnar bones. Ouch again? Oh yeah ouch. Push on this one hard. Really get in there. 3 minutes - go! Slide 3. With a flat hand, use your palm to push with a soft to medium pressure in a clockwise motion around your belly button. One lecturer always told me for a hundred times, not too fast and not too slow. So if you can do that without your arm falling off, be my guest. Do it for at least 30 times. . . Do this daily. Youre meant to poop daily so until you do, get them hands busy. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia See more

07.01.2022 Yaaaasss - here it is everyone!! Spring! Urgh, love it! Along with it comes the Wood Element. Flowers are blooming. Green is to be seen everywhere. Warmer days. That sun. (Let's take a quick moment to be grateful that the restrictions in place were their harshest during Winter!) ... Nourishing and treating the Wood Element and its organs (The Liver and the Gallbladder for those of you playing at home), is something that happens a lot in my treatments, mainly due to the fact that stress is a number one way to tip the balance of this element. And boy, stress is abundant at the best of times, let alone this cray cray time. So what else? What else is contributed to the Wood Element? Colour - Green Emotion - Anger, frustration, resentment, jealousy Weather - Wind (the jerk of the weather world - more to come on this, but for the meantime, grab yourself a nice scarf to wear during warmer weather - protect your neck) Energy - Rebirth, creation, new beginnings - Yang is all up in our faces right now! Flavour - Sour Sense - Sight Sound - Yelling, shouting, sighing Time of the day - 11pm-1am Gallbladder to 1am-3am Liver (when you should be fast asleep......see where I am going with all the stress and Wood related treatments in clinic? More sleep stuff to come) Can't wait to get into more about all this. I have woken this morning with slightly more energy and I can't wait for more of this energy to bloom! Happy Spring everyone! PS. Keep the mask wearing up if you are a sufferer of hay-fever. A wear a scarf! See more

07.01.2022 The Wood Element 'Tis the season of Spring and the element of Wood. In Chinese Medicine the Wood is closely related to bamboo. Strong and hardy, yet flexible. When bamboo is healthy, it is so supple and strong, that when strong wind comes along, it can bend and be flexible so that it doesn't break. How does this translate into treatments to help with balancing the Wood Element?... I want to make sure you have enough substance to help keep the Wood supple. Your Liver in Chinese Medicine store your Xue (Blood - that is mainly derived from the food and drink we consume). When the Liver holds healthy, nourishing Blood then the Wood element is less likely to be brittle. Common signs that there is less Blood in the Wood are: Headaches and migraines - especially across the eyes and temples Nails that a brittle and break Dry eyes Dull aching period pain and scanty periods Constipation with dry pebble like stools Wry neck and stiff shoulders Flexibility. The Wood Element loves to move. Either slowly or fast. When movement doesn't happen, stagnation occurs and this stagnation causes the body to become less flexible, with the muscles, tendons, and sinews not being nourished by Blood. Flexibility is also seen in the emotions. Anger and frustration are the Wood Element's emotions, and when these emotions are not expressed in healthy ways, the Wood Element is thrown out of balance. Stressors in life become much harder to deal with. Like bamboo, we need to be strong yet flexible, dealing with whatever comes our way in a level-headed, boundary-setting, standing-up-for-yourself, kind-to-all way. If reactive behaviour occurs, the Wood needs to be balanced. I sense a whole heap of Wood being unbalanced at the moment in Melbourne. At the moment face to face is still not going ahead, but I have some amazing herbs that can help with this balancing and online consults are available.

06.01.2022 Iso education is all about sitting in my favourite room, surrounded by plants, sun shinning through the window, coffee in my veins, while learning about topics that not only interest me, but will be of value for my patients moving forward. Today I have signed up for a full day webinar on male fertility and sperm health. It takes two to tango when it comes to making babies - well we at least need an egg and a sperm cell. Having both as healthy as possible is what we strive f...or right? Sperm health has declined dramatically over the years, yet so much emphasis is placed on the Womens reproductive health, leading to many men missing out on optimising their health, reducing their stress levels, and really having the opportunity to become fully involved in a pretty amazing time of someones life. Education never stops. And as a registered practitioner with AHPRA, my continuous professional development needs to be done each year, making sure I stay up to date with recent changes and new ideas. Plus, I love stationary. Always want another excuse to buy more notebooks and pens ... See more

05.01.2022 Lets have a quick chat about our expectations for our skin. Will this convo seem a bit hypocritical because I work with peoples skin in clinic, promoting the glow and plumper skin, who knows? You be the judge and @ me if you feel. . . So we are pretty much expected to have no acne by the time we are adults, right? Gosh, I hate to break it to some of you. Adult acne is a thing and sometimes, it is here to stay. Noooooo, I hear you collectively scream. Why no? I believe that,... through media, we are expected to have completely smooth, blemish free, shining skin all days of the week and when we get a spot or are covered in them, its the end of the bloody world. I get it, the confidence levels go down, but its so common we should really give ourselves a break and not let that crappy voice talk us down. We are not perfect and never will we be. And thats ok. Some people have never had a pimple in their life, yet they have pigmentation. Others never have had flushed, red skin, but they have the deepest laugh and frown lines. Some do not have a wrinkle in sight, but they have acne and blackheads everywhere. . . Cosmetic Acupuncture helps your skin be the best it can be. It can only do so much and I love helping people fall in love with their skin again. This generally happens when I help break down the stigma of skin issues with you and work with your relationship with your skin. Acupoints on the body really help get to the underlying issues with your skin (be it flares up during different times of your cycle, after you eat something but you cant work out the trigger, or when youre stressed out of your mind) but also helps with your confidence and self-esteem (oh yeah, I have a couple of cheeky points I use to help you feel Zen and ready to take on the world!). Your skin is your largest organ and its what really makes you, you. Now lets get you loving you! See more

05.01.2022 TCM Dietary Info part 1 of 3! So how is Chinese Dietary theory different to Western nutrition? Well first up, there is no mention of macronutrients - carbs, protein, fats, or micronutrients - vitamins and minerals. Calories? Never heard of them.... In Chinese Med, food has different properties, different flavours, different channels they will enter. Let me explain.. Different properties - this can also be described as the temperature of the food, but it isn't the actual temp which your mouth can feel, but rather what they bring to the body. There is Cold, Cool, Neutral, Warm, and Hot. Some spices like cinnamon is Hot, great for super cold ppl, not great for sweaty, flushed ppl. Dairy is Cold and as per my last post, Cold isn't great. Rice is Neutral, ginger is warm, and broccoli is Cool. It can become a little confusing, because even though it may burn your mouth, peppermint tea has a Cool affect on the bod. The 5 flavours - these 5 relate to the 5 Elements and are Sour, Sweet, Salty, Pungent, Bitter. The 5 flavours are important to help use your diet to help which ever Element is out of line, but it isn't as simple are eating one of the flavours that correlates to its element. For example, the Wood Element's flavour is Sour, but if you have too much Sour you can restrict the Liver Qi and Blood and cause more issues, but in turn not having enough Sour can also cause issues. What's that about balance again? Entering channels - the foods will enter into the different channels of your body and go help out that organ. This will relate to the property and flavour of the food, but sometimes some foods are attracted to certain areas. Take pears, they are Sweet and Cold. Sweet related to the Earth Element so will enter the Spleen and Stomach channels, but are used a whole heap to moisten the Metal Element (Lungs and Large Intestine), helping with phlegmy coughs and dry constipation. And if that isn't all a little confusing in itself, the way you prepare food will also cause different affects in your bod. Steaming foods is a cooler method than roasting foods. Food cooked in heaps of oils is Hot and frozen/raw foods are Cold. But don't worry - I've learnt it all for you! See more

05.01.2022 Needles are in to support the skin and noise cancelling headphones are on to help draw you into a deeper relaxation while your body's Qi does its thang! @leahjay_ knows what's up! The Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments here @zhongcentre don't just focus on needling your face. It is a treatment that can only be performed by registered Chinese Medicine practitioners. What does that mean? Well you get someone who has a minimum of four years of studying and training looking after... you (talk about needling practice!!). It also means that each time you come in you receive a Chinese Medicine consultation and diagnosis, which results in an individualised treatment for your skin and body. Chinese Med is a holistic medicine which not only focuses on the signs and symptoms at present, but will dive into and look after the root of whatever your problems are! No more bandaid solutions! Acne, flushed cheeks, lines, sagging, lacklustre skin? I see it all in clinic. Best thing about Cosmetic Acu? The healing doesn't stop at your skin. While you have a treatment, I also help support other health worries. Maybe some digestive disasters or period problems, anxiety anguish or bowel burdens, menopause misery or sleeping sorrows. It is a real 'two birds one stone' situation (please don't throw stones at birds). During your first consultation and treatment, we will discuss your goals and devise a treatment plan to help you reach them as quick as possible! Wanna book in? Follow that link in my bio! See more

05.01.2022 Did you know it’s ok just to survive during the lockdown. What on is going on at the moment? I don’t know either. BUT, what I do know is that we can lower those expectations we have on ourselves to thrive throughout lockdowns. ... Lower them! It is absolutely, 100%, completely fine to survive right now. Not cooking those super healthy meals right now? Who cares, at least get some food into you. Can’t do those 7am online fitness classes? pfft whatever, go for a 15min walk. Struggling with work? Mental health days, take them. Don’t push your already exhausted fight and flight nervous system to the edge by trying to be perfect at the moment. Give yourself a break. Oh and talk to someone if you need to. Rant, scream, cry. It’s a bloody weird time so no need to act normal!

04.01.2022 In coming poop chat. . . Unlike the bowels of those who have to wait days before passing a poop made of stone, other bowels have no concept on how to stay closed and that pooping in your pant isnt the coolest thing going around. Diarrhoea and loose bowels can happen for many reasons, but if you are suffering from it on the daily and it isnt due to food poisoning or a food allergy (put that bloody icecream down you lactose intolerant goofball - you know that makes you sick!)..., you will become tired of your hourly bathroom trips. . . There are a few Elements and Organs in play with loose bowels but generally I see clients suffering from this in conjunction with cold hands and feet, sluggish and low energy (3pm slump is there even throughout iso), brain fuzz, lower back and knee ache, stress and anxiety, bloating, and sometimes feel nauseous. Many clients find it that they are waking in the morning to urgently run to the toilet and this checks out in Chinese Medicine as the Large Intestine time is between 5-7am (this is according to the Horary Clock - will go into this cool time telling tool another time). . . So, how can we help ourselves between Acu sessions? There are massage techniques and Qi Gong exercises to do which I will go through in another post. But 2 important things you can do now are: 1. Keep your feet warm. No more bare feet, especially now that its turning into Winter. Socks and slippers always at home. There are Acupoints down on your feet that just hate being cold. That cold goes up into your bod and causes all types of issues. Put socks on. Even through yoga. Reconnect with Mother Earth during summer, not when its 8 degrees outside. 2. Eat when you are in peace and you are sitting down. Also known as mindful eating I guess. Sitting down for meals cuts off a bit of blood flow to the legs allowing for more energy to be directed to your middle. Eating while calm stops your Qi from knotting and also allows for better digestion. Eating regularly also helps to teach our body when we expect it to digest and when to poop. Try them out and then keep following to see the points and exercises you can also add in to help slow them bowels of yours down! See more

04.01.2022 TCM Dietary Info part 2 of 3 In my pervious post I chatted about how food in Chinese Medicine isn't broken down by macro or micronutrients, but rather their properties, flavours, and what channel they a directed to in the body. Well some foods also produce certain affects in your body, so let's go over them! Heat producing - these foods are ones that can flare up the inflammatory response in your bod or make you feel kind of gross, sweaty, and restless after eating to...o much of them. Alcohol, refined sugar, black pepper, cinnamon should all be reduced if you have a flushed face, bright red acne breakouts - especially over the chest and upper back, acid reflux and indigestion, night sweats, and allergies. Cold producing - had a quick chat about Cold in another post, but this one slows everything down and causes your Blood and Qi to stagnate. A line from a Classic Chinese test reads 'If there is free flow, there is no pain; If there is no free flow, there is pain'. Ice cream, smoothies, watermelon, lettuce, coconut milk/oil/yoghurt, and soya sauce are all Cold producing. Damp and Phlegm producing - these are the food groups I have my clients who suffer from 'Damp Diseases' to stay clear of. Damp is something that is produced through a series of unbalances as well as poor diet and stress. Damp is heavy, Damp slows Qi and Blood down by taking up room in the channels, and Damp is painful. Dairy (all cows, some goat), greasy, fried food, bananas, avocados, excessive amounts of nuts, all can produce Damp which will wreak havoc with your digestive system. Something you will notice is that so 'healthy' foods that are encouraged by Western nutrition can actually not be that great for you in a Chinese Med term. It is best in Chinese Med to get a balance of Cool, Neutral, and Warm foods, cooked simply and gently. See more

04.01.2022 Is it officially Summer time? You bet ya it is! Melbourne is doing its best to keep up with its over used joke of four seasons in one day and it really isn't feeling the most summery, but it is here! You know what that means? A change of elements and a change of colour of my posting! Its the Fire Element's time to shine bright! And what a fun and bright element this is! Different to the others as it has 4 organs instead of the usual 2 that it correlates too (well, one... isn't really an organ per se, but I'll go into all that in future posts!) 02.01.2022 Ready for another early morning poop read?! Too bad if you are not, here are more constipation hacks for you backed up beauties out there! Constipation can get you feeling so sluggish and tired, but it can also affect your skin. Pooping is one way for your body to eliminate waste. If your bowels are not on time and are inconsistent, then your body uses other pathways to get this waste out. Peeing is one, but so is sweating, and exhaling. When it comes out in your sweat, your... skin can suffer. Break outs, rashes, itchiness. And if it comes out while you exhale....talk about morning breath! So lets get those bowels of yours relaxed and moist to allow for easy passage of waste! Things to add to the daily massage techniques: Salt - become a bit like salt bae! When you wake up in the morn, grab a glass, fill it with warm water (always warm!), and add in a teeny tiny pinch of sea salt (pink if youre fancy, just none of that iodise salt stuff thanks). According to Chinese Med, salt draws your Qi downwards, focussing on any Qi that is going the wrong way or is stuck, forcing it to follow its proper path. Water - now continue with water. Warm to hot water throughout the day. But dont scull the stuff. Sip it as your day goes on so you dont shock your system and actually give it time to soak the fluid up. This is important, otherwise youll be peeing every couple of minutes! White foods - Your bowels correlate to the Metal element, Metal element correlates to the colour white. Chinese Med Dietary Therapy calls for foods such as pears, rice, oats, mushrooms, cauliflower, chicken, and pork to nourish the bowels and help them move. Keep the food simple and full of moisture. Time for Congees! Look up some chicken and mushroom congee recipes Foot baths - Every night before bed, soak them feet of yours in salty hot water. As hot as you can stand it without burning yourself. Pull that Qi in a downwards direction Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs - something I can help with (Im pretty good with those needles!). General Health sessions are perfect to help the Metal element! I cant wait to hear about all the perfect poops you do! See more

02.01.2022 With Spring starting to wrap up, the Wood Element is still moving and expanding outwards, the energy all around is strongly pushing everything to where it needs to be. The new shoots on my indoor plants are vibrant and in abundance, and the buzz in the air being able to socialise and get moving again is rife. That cheeky Super New Moon in Scorpio over the weekend may have stirred up some deep set emotions, seeking change from your current lifestyle to help you grow. Wi...th all this growth and movement around us, if you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, nervous, frustrated, low in energy, and just plain stressed - firstly, that is totally ok, it has been a year (jeez, what a year) and having so much movement forced upon us after months of sedentary lifestyles is of course going to feel a tad strange. Secondly, it could be as easy as connecting with the Wood Element and getting that back into balance that can help you move into this energy rather than be fighting against it (consciously or not). Remember that the Wood we strive to be in Chinese theory is that of bamboo. It is strong and it grows fast, yet it is flexible and can bend to the wind if change comes along. It is important to make note of when we feel these feelings of frustration and anger and look for what is actually causing them. Understandably, being cut off in traffic or having a friend/family member/significant other say something mean can set off these feelings, but observe how they sit in your body. Are your shoulders and jaw still clenched hours after, are your eyes bloodshot and dry and sore, does your digestion 'knot' up and slow down, do you get super constipated, does your period become more painful that month? The Wood Element can be put back into balance with: Deep breathing - switching that flight/fight reflex into the rest/digest state (breathe in to the count of 4, hold for the count of 2, exhale to the count of 6 - do that 10 times - nice one!) Slow gentle exercise on the daily - yoga, walking, Qigong, stretching. Mindfully eating small meals throughout the day And of course Acupuncture Find your happy like@jnaydaily does! See more

02.01.2022 Now, time to try not disappoint my teachers and to avoid confusing the hell out of you! Let's chat about Jing Jing can be translated to Essence and is broken down into three different types: - Prenatal-Essence... - Postnatal-Essence - Kidney-Essence Prenatal-Essence is derived from the Qi of the sperm and the egg at conception. Along with the Kidney-Essence of the mother, It nourishes the foetus. Points along the Kidney meridians are super important to help support someone's fertility journey! Prenatal-Essence is said to determine a person's constitution. Their strength, their vitality. It is also said that you are born with a 'set' amount of prenatal Essence which cannot be topped-up or replaced, but it can certainly be nourished and reserved through a balance of work and rest, through slow breathing and slow moving exercise, and a tonifying diet. - Postnatal-Essence is what the body extracts and refines from the food and fluids that are consumed throughout a lifetime. This can go up and down depending on our diet. Having a healthy amount of Postnatal-Essence doesn't mean dieting though. It is ensuring we ingest the right amount of food and fluids that are warm in temperature, at the right time of day, to optimise your bodies individual potential. -Kidney-Essence comes about when we hit puberty and the ova are ready to go in the ovaries and the sperm matures in the testes. Kidney-Essence is a hereditary energy, like that of Prenatal-Essence, but unlike Prenatal-Essence which cannot be topped-up, Kidney-Essence can be replenished with Postnatal-Essence, meaning that a balanced diet inline with Chinese Med will help replenish Kidney-Essence. And what is so important about Kidney-Essence? Well it is in charge of growth, maturity, reproduction, conception, pregnancy, menopause, and ageing! I'm going to leave it there for now. This is a scraping of the surface, but that's ok. I have done the studying so you don't have to! Hints, tips, and hacks on how to look after each Essence is coming up! See more

01.01.2022 Winter is here and so begins another cycle of one of the Chinese five elements. Water is an element that encompasses the season Winter, the emotion of Fear, the energetic properties of the Kidney and Bladder meridians, the flavour of Salt, the colour Blue and Black, is felt deep in the Bones, and has a temperature that is Cold. There is much to unpack about the Water element and how, as a modern world, we ignore one of the fundamental aspect of this time of the year, th...e pulling back into ourselves through the colder months and slow down - read hibernate. Winter is a time for the Water to slow down, sit still, and be peaceful through a time where growth doesn't happen in the natural world. It is ok to take it slow throughout this season. 2020 is still throwing everything it can at us and it is still a hard and confusing time. Go with the Water element and allow yourself rest and to withdraw inwards. Take time for yourself and care for those around you. See more
