17.01.2022 Progress is coming along nicely at the dual occupancy project!

15.01.2022 Firstly I need to say THANKYOU! to all of the firefighters out there risking their lives to protect us from the horrible bushfires we are experiencing. With another concerning fire day ahead, I am really feeling an anxiety fatigue watching the news and hoping the friends and family in the fire’s path are safe and their homes and loved possessions are secure. The wonderful church conversion I have been working on is in the predicted flame zone tomorrow. I will be so very disappointed if the building doesn’t survive. It’s easy to say it’s just a house, it can be rebuilt but I know how much love and careful consideration has been put into the composition of the development. So while I wait to hear the fate of my design baby, I will be thankful for the opportunity to work on such a majestic old beauty. Stay safe everyone.

15.01.2022 Threatening bushfires and smoke to covid 19 and toilet paper shortages have been no match for this wonderful engine that could in Braidwood. Commencing site works mid December the project has been soldiering on and looking marvellous! Here are some exciting progress shots the client has been sharing on her blog. In the last photo you’ll see an interior shot of the open plan living area. The impressive amount of glazing will allow maximum solar heat gain during the colder months and store heat in the concrete slab slowly releasing warmth into the room reducing the need for heating.

13.01.2022 It’s a beautiful day for a Survey!

11.01.2022 On site today with a handy helper, marking out the site for a new home. What an amazing view the client will have!! Building Design isn’t just about instructions on a plan, but connecting with the site and visualising how the spaces will interact with the environment. I’m very excited to see how this project progresses!

07.01.2022 Another visit out to the church conversion today. The fires in the area have delayed progress due to hazardous breathing levels as well as threatening to come too close. Fortunately for now everyone is safe and the building has the opportunity to have the ember protection screens fitted. Times like these with bushfires all around, I am reminded why it is so important to encourage fire protection beyond the minimum.

03.01.2022 Seasons greetings to all friends of Almargi Design. We hope you have a safe and joyous Christmas with your families and friends. Almargi Design will be taking a short break, returning on January 04, 2021

01.01.2022 I took the family for a visit to see the progress of the church conversion today. Rurally located, It is still a precarious situation with fires to the east, south and west. While we were there a lovely neighbour stopped by to ensure the team were safe and prepared to leave again should the situation require. It’s lovely to see the community spirit. The works themselves are coming along nicely- almost complete with only a few weeks of work left. It has been a long but exciting job to be a part of. I’ll be a little sad when it’s all complete!
