24.01.2022 A few months ago, the wonderful @photopalmer and @tristancooksandeats contacted us to be a part of this super special series of photos and stories. It was such a humbling moment when we were posing for these photos and chatting to the guys about our experience during lockdown. It really brought us together and our hearts were with all the hospitality industry. We are thinking constantly about our peers in Melbourne and want them to know that we are with them.

20.01.2022 After a lot of thought, discussion and tears, we have decided to close our member for the time being. Our last night of trading will be Thursday nine April. This way of operating is unsustainable for our business and we have unfortunately decided it is best to close. It is purely a business decision and has been a very difficult few weeks. In our 13 years of operation, we have never had to make such a difficult decision. It is a different world now. We feel extremely blessed ...that we have had such amazing opportunities, experiences and have met such wonderful people along the way. We appreciate our beautiful customers; those that have been here from the very beginning and have become family, as well as the more recent customers we love. We are forever grateful and humbled by your support and love. Our aim is to come back with a bang and have a big Syrian party to celebrate togetherness and love. 11.01.2022 **UPDATE** With the most recent announcement from the NSW Government relaxing restrictions to allow up to 50 people in venues, this doesnt really change much for us. The 4sqm rule still applies, which means that we are allowed less than 10 people inside the premises at any given time. We are waiting for the details of the new restrictions, but we know that one of them is no more shared meals or serving cutlery. As this is our whole concept, we will now have to change the wa...y we do things. We are in the process of working out the details of the way forward in order to adhere to the rules, ensure the safety of staff & patrons as well as run a viable business. 05.01.2022 Thanks to syrianfoodie.blogspot. In the tenth century, Egypt was ruled by eccentric Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah the sixth Fatimid caliph. He issued a number of arbitrary laws that were getting weirder and more eccentric as years went by. He tried to prevent women from going out so he banned shoemakers from making women shoes. Christians were only allowed to ride horses if the saddles were wooden and not decorated. He banned fishermen from catching any fish that had no scales and fo...rbade people from selling or eating such fish. He also banned greens such as watercress, rocket and most importantly Mulukhiyah, the national and favourite dish of Egypt. Egyptians loved Mulukhiyah since the dawn of time. It was even mentioned in Pharaohs texts. Nobody really knows why he banned Mulukhiyah. Some people claim that it was the favourite dish of Mu'awya ibn Abi Sufyan his archenemy. Some say greens are sheep and cattle food, and eating them will bring human intelligence to the level of livestock. Some theory goes that Mulukhiyah is a strong aphrodisiac and by banning it he was trying to cut promiscuity. .
