They have contributed to community, journalism, design, visual eff ects, media law and science. ANDREW ALOISIO CAME TO THE ATTENTION of the worlds design elite when he was named the winner of the Peroni Young Designer Awards in 2009. He went on to work with such iconic brands as Swarovski and Versace Home. But now, the UTS design graduate has turned an even bigger corner: an innovative new product he created is taking off . Launched in January 2012, SKINX is an antibacterial cream that fills a gap in the sporting scene, aiding in the recovery and protection of skin for professional athletes. Its so effective that Aloisio already has formed strategic partnerships with rugby league clubs South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels, as well as the Western Force and Brumbies rugby union teams. Id done some consulting in the skin space and I discovered that its an area that doesnt have much attention in Australia, recalls Aloisio. The name SKINX came to me before anything else. Thats what sparked my imagination, and then I applied my product development experience to it. After the team doctors tested the product for several weeks, they were satisfied enough to make it part of their training and recovery regime. Ive always wanted that merry-go-round start-up, says Aloisio of having his own product. Im actually selling it not just designing it and I have a lot more control over how quickly I can respond to feedback. Aloisio is continuing to diversify his work as a designer and hopes to introduce SKINX to overseas markets.
