24.01.2022 In 2016, after winning the first round of the Australian Kart Championship, I flew out of my kart during a heat at the 2nd round. While I was (mostly) physically OK after this, it did teach me some valuable lessons; 1. Preparation is paramount - Have a plan (incorporating contingency) and complete adequate preparation BEFORE the event you’re planning to attend. Be sure to utilize your own individual data compiled from your preparation to avoid being misled by others. ...2. Ego is the enemy - Don’t let your pride get in the way of the right decision (trying to make up for lost time by trying too hard and over-driving, resulting in costly mistakes and losing confidence). 3. Trust your instincts - Race the way you practice, the problems start when we try to step it up a notch for the race. This snapshot is a reminder for me as it highlights a turning point in my Karting career. Feel free to share if you can relate, and would love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences within the sport.

23.01.2022 It’s interesting when you compare the Karting world to the animal world. I was surprised when I realized the similarities between a good karting team and a Wolfpack. Despite wolves living in some of the most extreme environments in the world, they don’t just survive, they thrive. Making use of the resources available to them and always remaining in the present, they accept the situation they are in. Never dwelling on the past, they persevere, learn lessons & improve to g...et their next meal (or race win ). The wolf does not depend on luck. The Alpha Wolf leads the pack and looks out for the other wolves. Each member knows their given roles and responsibilities within the pack, and this awareness of responsibilities helps the wolfpack function cohesively. The lone wolf dies, while the pack survives. Given the similarities, who else thinks the wolf would make a great mascot...? #motorsport #leadingthepack #onewiththewolf #howmanywolveswouldawolfchuckchuckifawolfchuckcouldchuckwolf
20.01.2022 NSW State Champions Very happy & proud of these two young drivers and their families following the weekend: Hamish Campbell - 1st in Novice Ayrton Dalmaso - 1st in Rookies ... These amazing results are a reflection of continuous hard work through specific & varied practice. It has been a pleasure to see them develop to be in this position! These two drivers are both at the start of their driving careers, and with their continued drive and ambition, along with the ongoing support and dedication from their families, I’m confident that this is just the beginning! Special thanks to Matt Mclean for being a great support to the team whilst also racing and managing 2nd place along the way in Senior Performance Light. 20.01.2022 Thank you for 500 Likes As most of you know, I now spend most of my days on the coaching/mechanic side of karting. While it may be easy to mistake my switch from driver to coach as an indication of loss of drive(pun intended), the true reason stems from a deep understanding that my underlying passion for the sport is best fulfilled when I help others to reach their full potential. The challenge of optimizing kart setups with precision, combined with positive and passi...onate coaching to help drivers unleash their inner ‘Senna’ is what motivates me. It’s important to celebrate the wins, but equally to reflect on any losses for continuous improvement. Since hanging up the helmet (albeit part time) I’ve worked with a number of drivers and have seen them improve consistently meaning my greatest accomplishments to date have been as a coach/mechanic (rather than behind the wheel). And the good news is I’m not planning to retire anytime soon, so the best is yet to come! A couple of highlights: Lewis Francis placing 2nd in the 2nd Round of AKC 2019 in Cadet 12 at just 9 years old in a field of 59! Noah Sands winning a heat race at AKC for the first time in his final karting event before graduating to cars. Matthew McLean coming of age in 2018, taking a clean sweep in the City of Melbourne Titles in X30 as a prelude to closing out the KA3 Australian Championship. Coady Gorringe becoming a crowd favourite in Las Vegas with his speed after going P1 in several practice sessions, then looking sure for a podium in the final before misfortune struck. Traveling to Singapore with Oli Myers and pitting out of the F1 Pit Building, with our driver Thor Rutgersson quickest in practice, starting off the front row for the final before finishing on the podium. 08.01.2022 During the period of COVID-19 there has been much time to reflect. Fast Karts Racing Developments was born with a vision to help others navigate the complex world of karting that can be a high cost, competitive, and, at times, confusing environment. Over the years we’ve worked with individuals to improve their skills, which in turn maximised their enjoyment - all whilst allocating resources efficiently. A big thanks to Dean O'Brien and James O'Brien for all of their hard wo...rk in the early days to get Fast Karts off the ground. 06.01.2022 Well done guys! 3 wins on the trot for Hamish & another podium for young Charlie
05.01.2022 Sisu: Extraordinary determination, courage and resoluteness in the face of extreme adversity. Following on from yesterday’s stellar effort, Lewis Francis skipped away to a nice lead in the early laps of today’s final at rd 2 of Australian Kart Championship in Newcastle. A mechanical issue surfaced mid race, but Lewis chose not to let this affect his focus and exhibited sisu. He maintained the lead the entire race up until the last lap where he was involved in a racing incid...ent. Exceptional effort from Lewis whose consistency over the weekend saw him walk away as this round’s leading point scorer in Cadet 12 & in a great position with respect to the championship with only one round to go. 05.01.2022 It’s been a busy few months in NSW! I've enjoyed working with many individuals, and am proud to see their massive gains over such a short period of time, and am certainly looking forward to seeing this growth continue in to the future. At the KANSW State Championships in Bega, each member of the team in attendance (3) ended up on the podium, with numerous heat wins and fastest laps throughout the race meeting.... At the ACT State Titles, we won Junior Performance with Costa Toparis. Matt Mclean finished the final 2nd in Senior Performance Light. Aaron Bell qualified on the front row in Senior Performance Heavy and was looking good for a podium in until a stub axle bearing ended his final. Ayrton Dalmaso came home strong from the back of the field on day 2 to finish P6. Hamish Campbell Poled the Novice class & led the majority of the final before a racing incident dropped him off the edge of the podium in what I’m sure he won’t let happen again! The saying We learn more from our losses than we do from our winnings was more than proved here and I think we all took a lot away from these two weekends as a group. I am now back in Melbourne, and while I won't be in physical attendance at the Karting NSW State Titles in Port Macquarie, or Round 2 of the Australian Kart Championship in Newcastle, I'm only a phone call away
01.01.2022 Aaron Bell P1 in qualifying after a very cheeky stop before qualifying! Hamish Campbell always improving off the front row now for the racing out of P2 @belly_guts @aceone_motorsport #motorsport #karting #leadingthepack #alphamotorsportau @ Dubbo Kart Club
