05.01.2022 Begin your journey of changing the world at Alpha Omega One of our 2019 graduates, Hanin Allam shared a beautiful reflection about her year 12 journey. "Dear (Year 12) Hanin,... Youve never been too skilful at writing these sorts of reflections, English was never your strongest subject. It wasnt just that you didnt like to read, you didnt have a creative mind, and your vocabulary needed some drastic help. You have been trying to convince yourself that youre a math person, not one geared with the mechanics of English rhetoric (and yes you did learn that word in Year 11). You have been trying to convince yourself of this for as long as I can remember! But when you really believed that this could all change, that someone can be both an English-y and Math-y person, you really did do it. And that is the first step to your success, and quite ironically, the most overlooked ingredient to the mix of the HSC journey. Belief. Now HSC, as you should all know is not crafted on a linear scale, your journey is progressive but not smooth. It looks more like a scribble of a 2 year old, but it does travel from one side of the page to the other, and thats what you should be focused on. You are always moving, always going somewhere. The peaks and booms and troughs are all decorations to the pavement that you are currently walking on. So dont shy away from looking your biggest fear in the face, because most likely it will result in a peak. Yes thats right, for English you just have to start those critical readings, and for PDHPE, just do those responses, and for maths, just do the homework mate! And after a while, Im telling you, it will be enjoyable. And never forget that in the times when you are having trouble, sitting in the depths of a trough, where you really feel like youve hit yourself on the end of the tunnel wall Ask for help. Or as we often hear in the Alpha chamber Communication. Because no matter how cliche... communication is key! And its one of the easiest things to do. So do it consistently. So remember, you are not alone on this journey, you just have to go to the right places for support!" ...continue reading in the comments.
