25.01.2022 Big OC Test Update! The OC test has been delayed by 2 months to the 18th of November! 24.01.2022 To help you plan your child's exam preparation, we’ve created a roadmap with the four stages of exam preparation to help you understand what the process looks like, how long it will take and how to break past plateaus in improvement and results.

23.01.2022 ***Year 4 OC Test Holiday Program*** Alpha One will be running a Year 4 OC holiday program for students who are looking to maximise their chances in the upcoming OC test. This 2 day program will focus on reviewing all OC topics and giving students an opportunity to sit OC style questions under the exact time pressure of the exam. The program will consist of a 4-hour session during each week of the school holidays. In the first 1.5 hours, students will be reviewing the common... maths and GA topics that show up in the OC exam. In the following 2.5 hours, students will sit a full OC trial test and review the entire test paper. All classes will be run in our small group class structure. The students will also get to take the test paper home to review the questions again. The two 4 hour sessions will cost $250 in total and if you have any questions, feel free to enquire further on 0470 037 117. 22.01.2022 Book a free OC Trial Test this week: https://forms.gle/ZqxgqjrLAozUcfDS9 As you're all aware, there have been some significant changes to the OC test this year. The biggest difference is that your final OC mark will come solely from the exam itself and the school mark is no longer considered. This means that it is crucial for students to master the time management strategies, error checking systems, tricks for accuracy under time pressure and other elements of exam technique ...that will determine your child’s final mark. Thankfully, another big change is that we have an extra 7 weeks of preparation time in which we can provide that final push to get your child across the finish line! The most important practice at this stage is not simply revising concepts or doing worksheets but being much more proactive and attempting as many timed practice exams as possible. Alpha One, starting from this week, will be running a series of OC trial tests that simulate the final exam very closely. Not only will we coach children on where they went wrong but we'll also give plenty of advice on exam techniques to help our students to achieve the best possible mark. The two week program (with sessions on Thursday 12-6pm and Saturday 9-3pm) will give students a final push and help refine their exam techniques. Students will sit a total of 8 mock exams conducted under exact exam conditions. A full review session will be held after each trial test with James Ruse alumni. 14.01.2022 Congratulations to our Selective Preparation Class of 2020 on their exceptional results! We couldn’t be prouder of the outcome of the hard work from our tutors, students and parents. 03.01.2022 In response to recent changes to the 2021 Selective Test, Alpha One is changing our WEMG classes to WEMT! With Cambridge Assessment taking over writing test papers starting next year, the General Ability component will be replaced by Thinking Skills that focuses more on problem solving and critical thinking. The WEMT classes have been adapted to ensure all students will understand how to tackle the new questions types examined in the Thinking Skills component.
