25.01.2022 Year 3 Science with Mr Bull - Bernoulli's Principle The Year 3 students enjoyed learning about the movement of air. They learnt that the faster air moves the less pressure the air exerts. Mr Bull used the school blower to test this theory. The students watched on excitedly as the ball flew up in the air from the blower until it reached a point that the force of gravity pushed down on the ball, which is equal to the force of air pushing up on the ball.

21.01.2022 Year 7/8 Food Specialisation Vegetable Garden Excursion to Villafield Mr Bull and the Year 7/8 would like to thanks Ms Leonie Burgess for allowing them to visit her vegetable garden at Villafield. The students enjoyed viewing and learning about the preparation and growing of the vegetable garden. Students also enjoyed meeting the farm animals as well.

17.01.2022 ALPHA STATE SCHOOL ~ CELEBRATING BSM, ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, TEACHER AIDE, AND SCHOOL OFFICER DAY I would like to thank our amazing staff that work alongside our teachers at this school. These are the Admin team, Leisa and Bernadette, the School Officer, Jordan Howard and the Teacher Aides, Bernadette Ruthenberg, Shelby Howard, Georgia Welldon, Dannielle Chou and Ella Case. We had some fun last Friday granting some wishes for them. Some we couldnt accommodate but others we definitely gave. We thank them for the work they do and the way that they support our teachers in doing the job of helping all children learn.

14.01.2022 NRL Visit - Monday, 9 November, 2020. On Monday the School had a visit from the NRL speaking to the students about combining a healthy choice component with a physical activity and focus on increasing student awareness of the importance of a balanced diet especially regarding breakfast and school lunches and the choices they have regarding what food and drink they consume. They also spoke to students about combining a respect component with physical activity. They used an interactive and motivating Power Point presentation, to show students the respect component with a focus on both personal respect and respect for others. These sessions were enjoyed by all students.

14.01.2022 BRAVEHEARTS PERFORMANCE Thank you to the Queensland Police and Aurizon for giving our Prep-Year 3 students an opportunity to participate in this event. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all students.

12.01.2022 Dress Up Like Mr Howard Day... Last Friday, Students and Staff came to school dressed like our School Officer, Mr Howard, celebrating him turning 21 years young. Happy 21st Birthday, Mr Howard we hope you enjoyed your special day.

12.01.2022 Science Week Eggs-periments! For Science Week, our Grade 9 students organised to do two experiments on Parade. Last Friday, Teagan started the first experiment by putting an egg in vinegar. We let the acetic acid in the vinegar react with the calcium carbonate in the eggshell. By the end of the week, the calcium carbonate had completely dissolved, leaving the egg soft and rubbery. This week on Parade, after seeing the result of the egg experiment, students were able to see a... fast acting chemical reaction. In our model volcano, Ashlie and Teagan combined acetic acid (vinegar), sodium bicarbonate (bi-carb soda) and red food colouring, which reacted to form bubbling red lava! It was excellent to see some of our high school students applying their classroom learning to an egg-cellent presentation for our younger students. See more

12.01.2022 Book Week Festivities Congratulations to all our students for participating in this event. We had many curious creatures and wild minds happening on the day. A big thanks to Miss Howard and her band of merry helpers for making this a very fun activity. Congratulations to our costume winners across the school. The winners were: Lola, Sarah-Maree, Oliver, Tahlia and Sophie.... A fun day was had by all who participated.
