22.01.2022 Hey! ABC IS BACK OPEN- today from 4pm. Bar service, barefoot bowls and meals served from about 6pm. Social distancing applies, as does relaxing, catching up with your mates and winding down after a busy week. Sign up as a social member ($21) and play barefoot bowls free and get $5 off your meal tonight/all summer season.

22.01.2022 Friday night social at Alphington Bowls Club is a thing.... Helped by a generous dose of warm weather, a perfect sunset and well it's good to say seeing the shackles of cv19 parting ever so much to the better. Lots of locals signing up as social members tonight, ABC visitors trying out lawn bowls for the first time and thinking mmm... maybe I don't actually need to be at retirement age to enjoy this, I am seriously enjoying it quite a lot now..can I fill in the ABC membership form right now and come back and play on Sunday arvo 3-6pm? Sure, why not? we say, it's not a secret you need to hide..bowls, social, nice meal choices, couple of drinks, make new friends, end of the week and all of that..

22.01.2022 Hey everyone, we are back in business as of this afternoon 4 pm. No meals this week but barefoot bowls and bar service yes for sure! Come in and sign up as a social member $21 pp. - Then you can Barefoot bowl for free! Please ensure you wear your masks, sign in, wash your hands/sanitise and socially distance as best possible... but otherwise it's back to ABC and we welcome you back!

20.01.2022 So apart from being a great community bowls club, we also have some pretty nice neighbours. Those folks over at Yarrabend well we welcome you and all that, and thanks to many of you already for joining us as social members.... however our native bird life that come to visit all day are our favourites for sure.. Hope everyone has a great Melbourne Cup Day break, we are (fingers crossed) back in operation on the Lawn Bowls front very shortly!... #abc100years See more

20.01.2022 Whilst we are not yet open to the public, we are able to tidy up, clean our BBQ area and the grounds & premises after pretty much 7 long months of lockdown. Thanks to all our members that assisted. We have updated some of the outdoors equipment, sorted out / sanitised the practice bowls sets /equipment and scrubbed wiped and polished every surface around the place. We've refreshed the bar stock pretty much and have some reopening specials for when we do open up to the public... in due course. We have trimmed all the bushes and opened up the airspace above our wood fired pizza oven, so that's going to get a run again soon for sure. Looking forward to meeting our new and returning social members. Gradually meeting the returning pennant playing bowlers and there are some who are joining the lawn bowls fraternity for the very first time. Welcome to the club! The club is in first class condition and we are looking forward to the upcoming season with great anticipation. Anyone looking to get into lawn bowls as a club player is invited to join us for training on Thursday afternoon from about 4pm. Bring yourself, wear some flat sole shoes and comfortable clothing and a hat if it's sunny. See you for bowls practice then and hopefully some social refreshments thereafter! As soon as we can open to the public we will, keep your eye on our FB page for updates. We have been going really well with our $21 per head social memberships. 19.01.2022 Nothing like a bit of warm night air to bring out the summer bowlers at ABC. Our Wednesday night teams are loving the conditions, none of that chilly breeze stuff, just a nice balmy 27c. Nice! As expected, plenty of great shots made, some not so good ones too.. All in all, this is what bowls are about, giving it a go, playing with your team mates, win, lose or draw, a good night spent enjoying a healthy life on the greens. Go ABC!

18.01.2022 ABC President Bill invites you! Seeing as we can now open our bar to community hospitality we will be open this afternoon from about 4pm till about 7pm depending on how we go. Watch our team practicing on the main green. We will also be open on Friday night from 4pm. No gourmet meals this week but next week... yeah baby! #abcsocial #ABC100

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Hawthorn BC winning a very competitive (delayed) season Grand Final for 19/20 year. Both teams had their chances and in the end Hawthorn BC won the final so our thumbs up to them. Both teams acknowledged the excellent greens presented by ABC and many "thank youse" to our Greens Director Dean for rolling out the Hamilton Green tonight prior to the game and not forgetting .. Extra thanks to ABC greenkeeper Nathan Swincer for laying out some special love on the green today to ensure a best presented club surface for this VIP game. How good is Lawn Bowls? !!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to our 2019/20 open 2 bowls champion. "Lionel Andrew memorial award"... Greg Payne had a competitive - 28 end battle against Steve Kostov. A strong win in the end to an active club member who coincidentally is also our Greenkeepers assistant. Congrats to both players for making the final in a keenly contested club championship. Thank you to the club markers for officiating.

10.01.2022 Back to ABC pennant bowls practice last night with all participants being aware of social distancing, masked up and ensuring safe conditions for all. We had a great roll up on the northern Naylor Green. Welcome back to many of our regulars and special greetings to 4 of our new bowlers who attended training for the first time. It's going to be a great summer season! #100yearsin2021

We are going to have to open an international development division, we have a Romanian, a Mauritian and an American come to savour the sunset, a quiet refreshment and a bit of a roll on the green. 05.01.2022 2019/20 - ABC Novice Bowls Champion is Mark Files, won in a tight match against Dean Pezzotto. Both players had their chances in the game, being the first to 25 shots. Thanks again to the official marker and the green keepers for presenting such an excellent surface.

03.01.2022 So like we said to all our 100's of ABC members email group and our 1,000's of FB media fans, we say = we are now open on a Sunday arvo. Barefoot bowls, bar drinks and social catch up.... Plenty of locals popped in, including a couple of the Alphington Striders, Northcote United Cricket Club and their opponents Wonga Park CC for a post match catch up. 3 new social members signed up, a couple of Christmas function bookings being worked out. ... A little bit of rain, thunder and lightning, VERY VERY FRIGHTENING! Mama Mia!! It's all happening at your ABC!

01.01.2022 Wednesday night bowls @ABC over the summer are back on! Welcome back to our 2 teams playing tonight Alphington Blue / Gold. Competing against other clubs from our area. These are very competitive games for bowlers who may be caught up with other things on the weekend, such as Cricket, Golf, work / family... so Wednesday night bowls is perfect. Games kick off around 7pm, if you're interested in having a look as a spectator, ringside seats are free! #ABC2020
