20.01.2022 PLEASE BE ADVISED: Due to lockdown restrictions, there will be NO SERVICES this Sunday, and unfortunately Pancake Tuesday at Myrtleford is CANCELLED. Apologies for inconvenience, but there are rules we must follow for the safety of all Victorians. Please uphold in your prayers those have been recently infected and their close contacts, our state premier and health experts, and those keenly affected by isolation.

18.01.2022 St Matthias - Feb 24th Matthias is the archetypal odd one out, being the apostle that was technically picked last. More than that, he was picked to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot. People like myself, who in school were always picked last or out of pity rather than necessity, can easily identify with. Even stranger though was how he was chosen to join the twelve. It came to a choice of two, and Matthias was selected by drawing straws. One can't help but draw a parallel wi...th how the Roman soldiers cast lots for Jesus' clothing at his crucifixion, but whereas the soldiers believed in games of chance, the choosing of Matthias is an example of leaving the decision purely to God. It's faith, but not blind faith. So many instances in life we leave to chance, but I don't think that's the case. We prepare scenarios, we prepare ourselves for God to enter our lives. Whatever decision we make, we have a given number of factors at play, and faith is knowing that any number of combination of these factors will produce a positive result. So faith is give and take, call and response; a relationship wherein we prepare for action, and God delivers an action by virtue of the world constantly in motion. We know this to be so, and we can always prepare for the next action, regardless of what that action looks like. We just have to believe that God has our back, because it's true. We will never have more than we can handle, if we take time to be prayerful in response to the changes and chances of life. Let's consider: what do we need to do each day to prepare for God to enter our lives, and give birth to pregnant potential? How can we work with God and each other to bear fruit in our labours that will last and sustain others around us? Because we are never really picked last, or picked at random. We each have our opportunity to shine. It's how we prepare for that moment that counts. Saint Matthias, pray for us.
