24.01.2022 How does dinner, drinks and live music sound? This coming Friday (15.1.2021) we have all of those available. The bistro is open, the beer is cold, the family is welcome and we have Jay Podger returning to perform some original tunes and some classics! Hope to see you

23.01.2022 This is great news for all border communities!

22.01.2022 I’d like to thank everyone who was able to join us this nye. It didn’t quite turn out like it should have but we enjoyed hosting a good mix of locals and visitors. I feel for everyone who has had to cut their holidays short and return home but please be assured, we’ll be here waiting to see you all again soon. Happy New Year

22.01.2022 Who in the Snowy Valleys and Upper Murray are looking forward to a weekend of relatively free movement through our communities?! I know we're excited We're open from 4pm to 10pm Mon to Fri and 12pm to 10pm Sat and Sun and doing lunches over the weekend... With the warmer weather starting to arrive we have set up our outdoor areas.... In the very near future we'd like to ease the way in which you arrive and leave the hotel. To do this we need your help. We really need everyone coming onto the premises to start using the digital platforms to log your entry. When I feel confident this criteria is being met I will open up all entrances for entry and exiting and remove all bunting and tape that defines areas of exclusion, etc. But, in the meantime. We hope you have a great weekend regardless if you're joining us or not. Enjoy, be safe and happy. Cheers Steve and the crew

21.01.2022 A pretty ordinary topic to discuss but even more ordinary to have to experience loss and live with it wondering if you missed something. If you can, please attend. What's 3.5hrs out of your day to potentially keep a loved one in our lives.

21.01.2022 Elliott Way road works Some time ago, following discussions with local tourism and other businesses and residents, I made representation for the earliest possib...le and safe commencement of roadworks for Elliott Way which was extensively damaged by the bushfire last summer. In particular the Cabramurra precinct in Kosciuszko National Park was badly affected by the Dunn’s Road bushfires on 5 and 6 January 2020. The bushfires stripped much of the trees and vegetation. Significant rainfall from 7 to 9 February 2020 scoured the landscape causing damage to the roadway formation along Link Road, Goat Ridge Road and Elliott Way. The scouring also caused the blockage of culverts, which then overtopped the embankments exacerbating the damage. I’d like to tell you what has been happening and the plan for remedial works. It has been assessed that remediation works will require the replacement/repair of 17km of guardrail, 730 snow poles, 1,400 guideposts and 725 road signs along some 140km of roadways in the area. The integrity and stability of the slope above Elliott Way remains a major concern with continuing rockfalls and minor slips affecting upon the road. The immediate works to remove hazardous trees, landslips and improve stormwater runoff from the fire-affected area have been completed. Snowy Hydro is undertaking problem tree management on all roads accessing the Cabramurra precinct (for long term safety), which is scheduled for completion mid-September. Completion of works and cost estimates have been reviewed by the insurance adjuster. Groundwork is scheduled to start in October/November with an expected duration of 12 weeks. The majority of the works will occur in spring and early summer with the aim to open access to the public as soon as possible in late 2020 or early 2021. NPWS estimates the total cost of repairs to be $10.4 million. The NPWS appreciates the patience and understanding of the local community while the service manages potential geotechnical or roadside hazards to maintain user safety.

19.01.2022 We roasted with the help of Khancoban Kitchen tonight. What a wonderful flavour the Yarrangobilly blend brought to the meat.

18.01.2022 Well! It's been a little while since you've heard anything from us. We're still here and ticking along and making the best of these current times... As our govts don't seem to be giving us too much good news at the moment, I hope this little bit of news puts a smile on your dial! From today (Thurs 10.9.2020) we'll be opening up the outdoor seating on the Scott St side of the pub. As the weather warms up we'll open sections accordingly and in a way we can manage our patron n...umbers. All rules that apply inside the venue apply outside as well, so please co-operate and make things just that little bit easier for us as we actually do not enjoy reminding you of your obligations whilst visiting us. If you're not sure what you can and can't do? We have information where you sign in and any of the staff will also be able to answer your questions. You will still be required to enter and the leave the hotel via the current entry/exit point and if you are caught entering via the non-entry point you will be asked to leave. I apologize for all inconveniences, but please think about the inconveniences placed upon this venue (and every other) to be able to remain a viable entity. I look forward to having a beer in the sun with you! Steve

18.01.2022 As we get closer to closing out 2020 I've taken a few minutes to reflect on the year. the year many would like to see gone. Before I get into my reflection of the year, I'm not looking for comments or reactions. I'd just like to share my thoughts, so I respectfully ask you to just read and I hope you take something from it as my perspective may be different from yours and other people's. There's no doubt it's been a rough year for a lot of people and my heart goes out to all ...those who have done it tough and are still doing it tough through whatever reason. I know I haven't got everything right, both professionally and personally, but I'm actually proud of what has been achieved this year. I know the hotel has been able to help people in various ways this year, whether that be providing emergency accommodation for evacuee's as the fires broke out in our neighboring communities, whether that be through assisting other's through donations or just offering a place for someone to see their mates. I'm also thankful to those who made donations and contributions to the hotel, including locals who all pitched in through the beginning of the fire recovery period. I have also been blessed to have met some new friends through the adversity of the year and I've had the privilege of having a "hatted" chef donate his time in our modest little kitchen. There was also an individual who donated a pallet of food, which was distributed to organization's to help fundraise for rebuilding. As COVID began to impose itself upon us, I'm proud of the fact we were able to keep all staff employed when many were being let go as this pandemic unfolded. We were actually able to create jobs and pushed on and evolved the business to suit some very drastic changes that occurred. I've been inspired at how other's have pushed on through their own adversity and used that to keep driving this business to try and provide the best possible experience for you all. But what I see it all really coming down to is the fact that I couldn't have done it without all the staff, past and current and of course you, the individual who comes through the doors. To everyone, I wish you all the best for the new year and I hope you are all blessed with good health and find what you may be searching for in the new year. Stay strong, stay positive and take time for yourself! Steve See more

18.01.2022 I'm sure I'll get condemned for a Christmas post this far out, but I figured I may as well get in early... By all accounts, it appears the current border restrictions will be in place up to and beyond Christmas. To try and alleviate the pain of being unable to visit family in other states and join them for Christmas, the hotel will be hosting an "orphans" Christmas. I'm not sure how it'll be done yet or what the cost will be but I just want anyone who will be displaced or unable to be with family to know you will be part of the Alpine Inn family...

17.01.2022 More outside dining and seating available from today. At this stage there have been no rules changed in regards to everyone's obligations whilst at the hotel. To manage these as efficiently and effectively as possible we still have the one way in and out of the hotel. Please do not access or vacate the hotel via outdoor seating areas. Just a reminder that we are opening for lunches on Sat and Sun. Look forward to seeing you all.... Regards, Steve and the team!

17.01.2022 I would like to thank every customer (local and visitor) and staff of the Alpine Inn (past and present) for having me work at this wonderful venue over the past 3.5 years full time and even more casually. It has been a great privilege to serve you and work with you. I will undoubtedly miss each and everyone of you. Thank you for the beautiful gifts. Thanks to Scoobs for the delicious breakfast this morning. To Steve Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to spread... my own wings. You have taught me so much about the hotel industry. Pockets and myself will take this knowledge into our own venture (over the river) and will build our business with it. Your kind hearted personality and easy going nature has certainly made working here an absolute blessing. I will pop in from time to time for drink. You are a credit to this community and I sincerely hope to help each other out in the future. Thank you for your support and allowing me to work for you my dear friend. Love always Wendy and Pockets. 12.01.2022 Unfortuantly another act at the hotel being cancelled

10.01.2022 Another snippet of something to look forward to at the hotel and having us return facilities back into use. We're currently looking into a way to returning the pool table back into use. If you have been somewhere and seen another venue with pool tables being used, I'd be very interested to know how they managed it.... I do have a few idea's. So watch this space!!

09.01.2022 After reading todays news we're starting to get a bit excited here. It appears the relaxation on number capacity may be eased after the school holidays if NSW remains low on COVID 19 transmissions. Hopefully there may be some other reviews undertaken about your freedom to move around the hotel a little more and return us to being a venue of social interaction as opposed to the current situation... Fingers crossed anyway. With all that is going on we'll certainly be looking fo...rward to welcoming holiday makers as well as our local crew and workers and try to give you the experience you deserve. Not only with us, but with Khancoban! On the first Mon of Oct we'll be putting out a new dinner menu. We'll be introducing some new items. Although your favorite's will remain we'll be putting a bit more emphasis on healthy fresh eating with more items cooked rather than deep fried and some nice fresh salads. Bring it on!! Thank you to everyone for your continued support. Steve and the crew

08.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who bailed me out last night. Especially Shane. It's very comforting to know that there's people willing to help out and it is so appreciated... Thank you
