23.01.2022 We will remain open for the remainder of the season and are looking forward to welcoming you at our eco-village! We have always taken great pride in offering non-ski related Snow experiences for everyone. This now seems more relevant than ever! We have made a few adjustments in light of the recent announcements:... Until the 19th of August we will be operating Friday to Sunday for our Scenic tours, Fondue Dinner and our unique overnight accommodation with Skidoo ride, for all regional Victorian guests. We will be resuming our 5 day-a-week offering after the 19th of August, up until the 12th of September. We are also supporting locals, sourcing everything we can from other businesses on the mountain and surrounds. So when you spend a holiday with us you support more than one business through these difficult times. The Falls To Hotham curated hike: the best way to tackle Victoria's most iconic hike with all the comfort you could dream of! Forget about the heavy packs and dehydrated food, we carry everything for you! Not only that, the camp site will be set up, complete with our tree top tents, delicious local food, a wood-fired BBQ, G&T on ice and a hot shower! Th...is is a 3-night, all inclusive adventure with very limited spots! Summer Eco-camp: The summer version of our eco-village and the perfect way to spend a weekend unwinding. Picture yourself watching the stars from our tree top tents after a copious meal by the fire, or perhaps from under our Tipi, breathing the fresh Alpine air surrounded by century old snow gums. With plenty of outdoor games, hikes, walks and other adventures, we can package the perfect weekend for you to do as much, or as little, as you want! 21.01.2022 Hike Highlight #7 With their unique shape and changing colour, it's easy to be mesmerised by the many Snow-gums you'll see on our all inclusive curated Falls to Hotham crossing! This plant species is known for its ability to survive under extremely harsh weather conditions. Snow-gums belong to the Myrtaceae plant family. Scientifically, this plant is known as the Eucalyptus Pauciflora. Snow-gums are adapted to survive in very hot or very cold conditions. They can endure te...mperatures as low as -23C. The Leaves and branches are specifically adapted to snowy conditions and can shed snow from the trees during winter. 20.01.2022 This may be the end of the 2020 snow season for us, but this isn’t good-bye! As you may or may not be aware, Alpine Nature Experience is a small family business run by two staff members and myself. I still personally run every tour and thoroughly enjoy welcoming you at the eco-village. The recent NSW border closure has taken me away from my young son and 7-months-pregnant wife. Despite this, I have fulfilled my engagement to all guests, and all the businesses which depend on... us, as much as I possibly could. This season we were going to run our last tour on the 12th of September, leaving me just enough time to be back for the arrival of our new baby. Unfortunately, these new lockdown measures mean that we will not be able to continue operating for this winter, but we will be back as early as this Summer with an exciting new offering. @tentsile I'd like to particularly thank all the businesses we collaborate with for the wonderful support and kind words I have received. Some of them are still running and offering fantastic things for our Alpine community. 14.01.2022 Did you know that the Great Alpine Road which gives access to Mont Hotham, is the highest road in Australia? With increasing traffic on this road due to the growth of ski tourism, the Country Roads Board built a stone cottage at ~1800m altitude. It opened in December 1925 and was called ‘Hotham Heights’. Unfortunately, it burnt down during the 1939 bushfires among other cottages. However, it is the only one which has been rebuilt. Thanks to @toshipander for the pic!
