20.01.2022 Be safe out there! The current natural snow depth is is more than double compared to the long term average. This is great for backcountry skiing and boarding but also bears some risks. Enjoy the snow
18.01.2022 There are some interesting statistics from Austria regarding alpine related deaths. 283 people died on the mountains in Austria in 2017. 7807 people were injured 86% of all fatalities are male 26 people died in avalanches... Cardiac arrest makes up 27% of all deaths Although these are some high numbers, they seem to be close to the ten years average.

11.01.2022 Before you know it summer will be over and winter is coming. Get your ducks in a row and keep on top of maintaining your avalanche skills
07.01.2022 While the snow in the Rockies is a bit average, it's going great guns in Europe. Sometimes a bit too much. Cachez-vous = TAKE COVER
04.01.2022 Last weekend a handful of Alpine SAR members attended the SSI training of Bush Search and Rescue Victoria. It was a great opportunity to meet Jimmy and Matt from Police SAR, other BSAR members and of course catch up with a lot of dedicated volunteers. Thanks BSAR training organisers for putting up this valuable event and of course a big THANK YOU to Paul and Trevor from the local CFA Brigade who were very welcoming and let us use their station as a base
04.01.2022 To our New Zealand friends: Enjoy some time inside and stay safe. It's probably pub and not mountain time Cheers
03.01.2022 We like to thank all the Alpine SAR Victoria volunteers and supporters. Hopefully you had a great 2017 and we'll see you all back for an even better 2018! A very Merry and Safe Christmas to everyone
02.01.2022 The German Army Die Bundeswehr in Bayern is training in Norway at the moment. We do like their probing bar so you can get a feel for different equipment. Maybe try it yourself next time you do a an avalanche refresher with your backcountry mates
