23.01.2022 All ready to get down and dirty...literally!

23.01.2022 No job is too big or too small. Owners of this house already had merbau decking at their front entry but wanted to extend this for easier access directly from their driveway. We advised the owners to wait to stain the new timber after a minimum of 6 months to allow the natural tannins in the timber to bleed out, prior to sealing.

22.01.2022 Downstairs with garage and deck are taking shape at Windsor.

22.01.2022 Enjoying the view of the treetops from the newly raised Windsor Weatherboard.

21.01.2022 When it comes to windows and doors the two most commonly used options are timber and aluminium. The majority of new homes use aluminium because they are significantly less expensive, have a faster turn around for manufacture, and they are a lot less maintenance long term. However, older houses tend to have timber windows and doors, which are more characterful. ... Some aluminium manufacturers can give you the option of adding aluminium strips across the glass to make them look like 4,6 or 8 light glass patterns, but making the outer frame thicker to match a timber window profile is very difficult and therefore expensive. If youre in QLD and deciding between aluminium or timber, and your house is pre 1946 its more than likely your house falls under a heritage or character overlay which means town planning may dictate the kinds of materials you can use. Its important to check this before going ahead as you may run into trouble with council when it comes time to sell or do bigger renovation/extension works later.

13.01.2022 Surveys are often required for extensions and new builds to determine boundaries, contours and heights. Our Wonderful Windsor Weatherboard is having her final height check, after which a Form 16 will be provided. This shows that her finished height is not exceeding the maximum allowed by council.

13.01.2022 You may recall our post a week or so ago showing this wall all bricked up from the outside after we removed this dated arched window. Today we have a before and after photo of the completed interior! These clients now have a more functional media room space and the new paint and carpet they have added really brings a much more modern aesthetic to the room. Now just waiting for their call back to come and wall mount the TV!!

02.01.2022 This week we finished installing our custom made Accolade weather screens to this apartment for clients at Nundah. They were never really able to use this awkward outdoor space before due to it being exposed to the elements and constantly getting dust and leaves pooling up. Now they have extra square footage and an outdoor room that they can use regardless of the weather. It is now protected from the elements and what once was an awkward, inflexible space can now be used all year round, rain, hail or shine. No council approval required and Body Corporate gave it a big thumbs up. Scroll through for more photos.
