23.01.2022 Cracka Monday morning here on the Northern Beaches. The sun is out and the winds are light with only a small swell coming in conditions are perfect for swimming. ENE winds are forecast to strengthen throughout the day so get in early. Water temp is a balmy 21 degrees. See you in the flags!
20.01.2022 Fitness Friday’s!!! 4 weeks until fitness tests, 8 weeks until the start of the season. Expect to see the team training hard every Friday morning from here on in.
20.01.2022 Heatwave conditions are expected to expand and intensify towards the end of this week, with extreme heatwave conditions covering much of the southeast forecast until Sunday December 30th 2018 (http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/heatwave/). Please ensure that if you are venturing to the beach to escape the heat that you visit a patrolled location and swim between the flags. Further information on patrolled locations can be found at https://beachsafe.org.au/
19.01.2022 Them fresh handle feels . It’s like a Palm Beach Christmas without the crowd.
18.01.2022 The new fleet has arrived!! Thanks to our good friends at Sydney Watercraft Centre Pty LTD for providing us with 5 Yamaha VXR 1800 jet skis- these high powered, state of the art jet skis are crucial in our ocean rescue response time, and have saved many lives over the years in some of the heaviest conditions the east coast of Australia can handle. Time to train up the next batch of highly skilled ski drivers for the northern beaches team
15.01.2022 Fitness Friday’s! This mornings session = The Bilgola lifeguard mission - 400mtr ocean swim, 400mtr beach run, 800mtr board paddle, 400mtr beach run followed up by Critta’s beach boot camp session - push ups, goanna crawls, walking lunges, bear crawls, power jumps x 3 sets. The body is burrrning!
11.01.2022 1 week out from 2018/19 season fitness tests. The theory is make the training harder then the test and the test won’t feel like much of a test. Today’s fitness Friday session - 600mtr ocean swim > 800mtr run > 1km board paddle > 1km run. Great effort from the team
10.01.2022 With Lifeguard testing just around the corner, there is no better time to hit the pool and roll the arms over. Big turnout this morning for practise swims at manly pool,No better way to start the daybring on the real thing sept 1st! See you all there
09.01.2022 Drips and drops across rooftops! 80+ mm of rain forecast for tomorrow. We may be extending our service to the main road! If you do plan on swimming though be sure to check in with lifeguards for a report on the water quality and avoid the beaches with large storm water outlets. http://m.bom.gov.au/nsw/newport/
06.01.2022 Training morning. 2 months into the season the lifeguards are developing a general hatred of sand (just kidding we love it!) so we figured we’d mix up the environment and hit the stairs to get the heart racing and the legs burrrrning. Followed by body weight exercises, some board rescue scenarios and a team meeting. Was a cracka of a morning!
06.01.2022 Were back! We apologise Facebook we were busy watching the water. With the first month of the season in the books and our service running smoothly you can expect to be hearing from us regularly for the rest of the summer. Stay tuned in for the latest happenings, news, weather and current affairs from all our beautiful beaches and the lifeguards patrolling them here on the northern tip of Sydney. First on our agenda. HEAT WAVE!!! With the temperature set to potentially hit the 30s tomorrow. Remember to SLIP SLOP SLAP and stay hydrated! The surf is looking small so conditions will be perfect for swimming.
05.01.2022 Today’s report. WINDYYY!!! . All of our beaches are open come on down for some exfoliation via sand blast.
04.01.2022 Did you know that at least 58 people have died nationally whilst attempting a rescue? If you are heading to the beach these holidays and see someone in trouble, don't put yourself in danger too. Always seek assistance before trying to help. Visit https://beachsafe.org.au/ for more info on patrolled locations
