19.01.2022 Sorry no Kids BJJ ( Saturday). James is unwell. Adult Open Mat. Can still take place of a coloured mat can supervise.

19.01.2022 Just a reminder that any unpaid kids term 3 tuition fees are now overdue. Please organise payment this week.

18.01.2022 Tomorrow evening will be the last adult BJJ class in Alstonville and kids classes will end on Monday 23rd September. This has been a hard decision to make but after 16 months of slogging away and thousands of dollars in Facebook advertising the Academy has not become viable as a business. There are now 5 other BJJ or Grappling Academies within 20 minutes of here and I am confident that any of the Spartan BJJ students who wish to continue training and are prepared to travel ...the short distance to Ballina or Lismore will be well serviced. I will be continuing my training with some of my friends at their BJJ Academies and hope to continue competing in the Masters Divisions. I would like to thank my students and particularly Matthew Towns and Ben Gray who have shown me loyalty over the last 8 or 9 years and not only trusted me with their training but also that of their sons. My Assistant Coach at Alstonville Piotr Chyska has been an awesome person to have around. He is not only a fantastic athlete but also a fabulous coach and more importantly a man of great character. He also kept me honest and humble with regular taps to his triangle and head arm triangle chokes. Whichever club gets him when he relocates to Victoria will be very lucky to have him. Finally thank you to my Coach for the last twenty years John Bernard Will for your ongoing support. Wherever I may end up training locally I remain always your student and proudly a Black Belt representing Will / Machado BJJ Australasia. Much love to all of my students over the last 16 months in Alstonville and over the last nine years in the Northern Rivers See more

17.01.2022 Kids BJJ for Term 3 starts this Wednesday. We are looking forward to seeing all the little Mat Rats back at training.

16.01.2022 Max was only recently promoted to Green Belt but as a sixteen year old he can no longer wear that rank and must wear an adult rank. Well deserved Blue Belt after training for many years and the last three of four at least with the adults. Congratulations Max.

09.01.2022 Why Do You Pay Your Child To Fight Jiu Jitsu? "One DAD asks another - Why do you spend so much money on practice, championships and spend so much time running ...to see your son fighting Jiu Jitsu? The other father replies: Well, I have a confession to make to you: I don't pay for my son to fight Jiu Jitsu! The other father retorts: So if it doesn't pay him to train and fight what he is paying? Well, answers Jiu-Jitsu kids’s father ... I pay for those moments when my son is so tired and he feels he wants to give up, but doesn't give up ... I pay for the opportunity my child could have in making long lasting friendships. I pay for the opportunity that he could have amazing coaches who will teach him not only about Jiu Jitsu on the mat but also about the struggles of life. I also pay for my son to learn to be more disciplined. I pay for my son to learn to take care of his body. I pay for my son to be able to learn to work with others and to be a proud, supportive, kind and respectful member of the TEAM. I pay for my son to learn to deal with disappointment when he does not win or make a move, although he has practiced a thousand times but still looks up and is determined to do better next time ... I pay for my child to learn to do and achieve goals. I pay for my child to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success doesn't happen overnight. I pay for my son to be on the mat instead of getting involved with the wrong things ... I could go on, but to be brief, I don't pay for him to train or fight, I pay for the opportunities that sport provides for my child to develop attributes that will serve the good of his life and give him the opportunity to bless his life. from others, respecting all spaces. From what I've seen for many, many years, I think it's a great investment. And that is what I can leave for my children and society. #future #albanybjj #albanysubmissiongrappling #mitsudomoemartialarts #newseason
