22.01.2022 What Every Mum Already Knows Babies love massage. Their lives are incredibly simple and straight forward they feed, they sleep, and they poo (a lot) and they love to be hugged and cuddled (a lot). Not necessarily all in that order but that pretty much sums up the first few months of their new life as they adjust to our gravity on this planet. They have of course not yet been taught how to be stressed over the same little things that we as grown-ups might find so important ...and as a direct result they do not yet suffer from the same stress related health issues like us grown-ups do. (there might be a hidden message in that first paragraph!!) Massage is all about touch and a connection to another person. In the case of children, its about wanting to feel safe and protected and above all else they want to know they are loved unconditionally. Massage has a calming effect that can help with getting them to sleep more soundly and alleviating wind pain. Mothers know this instinctively when they shoulder the baby and rub or pat their backs during feeding. Early childhood parenting is not very complicated really when you look at it simplistically. Try giving your baby a foot and hand massage a couple times daily. They will love it and they will be happier for it. Also after a bath the best way to finish bath time is with a five minute body rub. Our three, now adult children all benefited from daily massages as babies and the calm the befell them as they drifted off to sleep made all the sleep deprivation we suffered seem so insignificant in the moment. Every mother knows what I am talking about but I just wanted to share. Have a great day everyone from Altered States Remedial Massage.

16.01.2022 Emulating the Masters of Stress Management If you are truly in search of an escape from the daily grind of never-ending pressure and self-imposed stress then you first need to observe and take lessons from the true masters of stress management Children. Take the time to sit and take notice of how young children play. It should become evident relatively quickly to an observer how they interact so seamlessly with each other, moving in and out of games with each other and nea...rly always in the total absence of any clear rules or codes of behavior set down by some outside influence. Also there never seems to be any visible signs of stress with conflicts generally finishing as quickly as they start, at least in my observations of this phenomena. Young children tend to move on as if there was no issue in the first place and appear to bear no visible evidence of residual emotional resentment from the altercation that transpired in the first place. Perhaps our children could teach us grown-ups how to live without stress. Maybe if we all took a sidestep in our day to do something totally out of character and without any consideration for what observers might think of us. Here are some suggestions to help get you started: Find a puddle of water and walk through it a few times making splashing movements with your feet. Sit down on the grass and just look at ants moving back and forth as they go about their never-ending work of gathering food. Pick up a leaf and just marvel at the intricacy of its structure. Lie down on the grass and just watch the clouds without. There are of course a multitude of activities you can indulge in to remove yourself from any stressful environment at least for a short time before submerging back into the melting pot of social acceptance and conformity. You might be pleasantly surprised to find that it can positively change the course of your day and perhaps even begin to improve other aspects of your life in a very short time. How different would your relationship be if you convinced your partner to join you in stamping through a puddle of muddy water instead of following the normal stagnating pattern of grown-up life? Our Children really ARE the true masters of not giving a f*%# and maybe we should allow them to show us a better way?

11.01.2022 Freedom is about living in the moment. Thats pretty hard to do if your closed off to the simpliscity of living simply. Life has a way of distracting us and keeping us from enjoying life one prescious moment at a time. I have two ancient and time honoured methods of getting yourself to live in the moment. Both will change the course of your day and trigger an emotional response that will affect you for the rest of your week. Method #1: Hit you thumb with a hammer.... Method #2: Get a massage. See more

08.01.2022 Can you Identify with Miss Bell. Give me a call and I will make it all better :)
06.01.2022 Tapping has become more accepted in recent years with more trainers and therapist gaining more practical application knowledge of how to use it effectively to treat specific injuries. When I am away on tours with the indoor cricket I get to see first hand how by me applying the taping to manage minor sprains and muscle tears it enables the athletes to continue to keep playing at a high competitive level. Its kind of like how good old fashioned duct tape will hold a broken fender of a car together till it gets fixed. Sports tapping is for sure Duct Tape for humans :)
04.01.2022 JUST START WITH ONE!! Imagine an exercise program that does not require a gym membership or any special equipment or even the machine that goes Ding. Also imagine an exercise program that is so flexible and scalable that it is perpetually challenging for not only for the overweight, office bound beginner but also for the alpha super elite athlete. Bodyweight training is at last making a big come back after being relegated to the shadows of uncool for at least 4 decades ac...cording to my distant school yard memory. All you have to do is start with one single pushup. And then everytime you think of it do another one pushup. Even at work, find a quiet spot and try for two pushups. Your body WILL respond in a positive way. Make your goal for the month to do 15 pushups. Start researching bodyweight exercises but dont get caught up in trying to keep up with the endless supply of super athlete models with their perfect bodies - it took them years of hard work to get there. It would be like asking a child in kindergaton to do university level algibra. When you do reach your monthly goal then it is important for you to look back to see how far you have come. Then after a well deserved cup of good quality coffee in the morning sun set another goal for the next month - say Squats. Then JUST START WITH ONE
