24.01.2022 HOW CAN NEEDLES HELP TO REDUCE PAIN? Acupuncture has a positive effect on the body. In a nutshell, this has everything to do with restoring your energy balance. According to Chinese medicine, the mind and body are one. A medical condition is an expression of a disturbance in your energy balance. For example, you may feel pain in your arm, but usually the underlying cause is elsewhere in the body coming from a blockage or stagnation. Acupuncture does not treat the symptoms, bu...t it addresses the underlying cause of your symptoms which we discover by listening to your story, examining your symptoms, looking at your tongue, feeling your pulse, and making connections to the associated organs. Acupuncture restores balance by stimulating certain points in the body to release blockages that help relieve pain and make your mind and body feel better. . . . #acupuncture #altonaacupuncture #acupuncturist #altona #aleisharasheed #chineseherbalmedicine #chineseherbs #herbalmedicine #cupping #health #healthyliving #holistichealth #selfcare #balance #chinesemedicine #melbourne #traditionalchinesemedicine #tcm #holistictherapist #holistichealing #tryacupuncture #melbourne #pain #painrelief

18.01.2022 THE 5 ELEMENTS According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the five elements are believed to be the fundamental of everything in the universe between which interactions occur. Everything is connected and in perfect harmony. This is reflected in the rhythm of day and night, the alternation of the seasons and the functioning of people. According to traditional Chinese thinking, there are five seasons. Each season is linked to an element: ... wood = Spring fire = Summer earth = Late Summer metal = Autumn water = Winter The elements feed each other (in order): The cycle begins with the water that nourishes the wood > wood can make fire > fire creates fertile earth > earth contains metal > metal can be converted into water. But the elements holds each other in check too, it is a control mechanism: Wood can grow through earth > earth can absorb water > water puts out fire > fire can melt metal > metal tools cut through wood. Also...the elements are connected to the organs, tastes, senses, climate, tissues and emotions (SWIPE >) It is quite complicated, but balance and harmony are key words for Chinese medicine. For acupuncture we use these elements to explain illness and health. As soon as there is a disturbance within this cyclical process of the successive phases, there will be a stagnation or overabundance of energy and this can cause health conditions. In TCM we find out what dominates or is deficient to you, which gives us important insights into your health and the opportunity to strengthen or weaken certain elements and find the right balance that contributes to good health.

11.01.2022 BEST TIME FOR NUMBER 2 What, a post about poop? Haha I hear you thinking. Well I talk about poop all the time! During my consults I ask often about your bowel movements. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the best time of the day to have a bowel movement is early in the morning, between 5 and 7am. You don’t need this for the rest of your day ;-). If you have digestive issues such as constipation or diarrhea, this may indicate an imbalance and it's good to pay at...tention to the large intestine. Drink a large glass of warm water when you wake up. It helps with your bowel movements. Acupuncture is there to help you with imbalances too. image: VladimirFloyd . . . #acupuncture #altonaacupuncture #acupuncturist #altona #aleisharasheed #chineseherbalmedicine #chineseherbs #herbalmedicine #cupping #health #healthyliving #holistichealth #selfcare #balance #chinesemedicine #traditionalchinesemedicine #tcm #holistictherapist #holistichealing #tryacupuncture #melbourne #poop #constipation #dhiarrea #chineseorganclock #digestive #digestiveissues

11.01.2022 PERIOD BLOOD COLOUR If you've seen an acupuncturist for menstrual issues, you've probably been asked all kinds of questions about your menstrual blood. Do you have heavy periods, what color is your blood and do you have blood clots? The more we know, the better we can understand your body and menstrual cycle. The color of the blood is not a gynecological diagnosis. It gives the acupuncturist instructions about the energy balance in your body and how we can restore this bal...ance in case of menstrual complaints. Rich red The ideal color is rich red. The texture should be about the same as bleeding from a wound. It does not clot and is not watery or sticky. It is normal to see some small pea-sized blood clots as well, because you are also shedding your endometrium lining. Light red / pink Pale red or pink blood that is very thin and watery is a sign of Chinese medicine that the energy of the spleen is not optimal. If the blood is this color, you often lose less blood. This is often accompanied by a lack of appetite or difficult digestion or absorption of the nutrients, tiredness and a feeling cold in your body. Diarrhea is also a complaint that belongs in this list. Bright red If your menstrual blood is bright red, your body temperature can affect the quality of the blood. If your basal body temperature is above 36.6 C at the beginning of your cycle, your blood is usually clearer than normal. This may be associated with thirst, sore throat, yellow vaginal discharge, or pelvic pain. A higher body temperature can also interrupt the timing of ovulation, which negatively affects your fertility. Dark red Conversely, if your basal body temperature is too low, your menstrual blood may turn a darker red. Low body temperatures can cause slowness of blood circulation in the uterus and uterine contraction, which can cause cramps or increased blood clots. This may also be due to the stagnation of Qi in the liver, which stagnates the smooth flow of Qi. In such cases, you can get symptoms such as PMS, breast tenderness, irritability and can easily get stressed. Want to know what purple/brown or bright red/orange tells you? 11.01.2022 CUPPING THERAPY Cupping therapy is one of the oldest methods of releasing toxins from body tissues. Cupping is the use of glass cups that are applied to the body by suction. As the cup creates a vacuum on your skin it increases blood flow to the affected area allowing toxins to be flushed away.... Cupping helps to alleviate (muscle) pain and reduce inflammation and gives blood circulation a big boost. Besides the many health benefits, it is a pleasant feeling and works really well for pure relaxation. Have you ever tried it? Tell us how you find it in the comments :-)

08.01.2022 HOW TO USE A #GUASHA STONE FOR THE FACE Gua is used to induce the action of collagen building cells in the layer of the skin, improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage and relieve facial muscle tension. Rose quartz is one of the most used crystals used for healing. The energetic vibration of rose quartz is that of unconditional love, and what can make anyone more beautiful than the feeling of unconditional love. Rose quartz releases negative emotions and toxic energies and encourages the feeling of inner beauty and self confidence allowing your inner light to shine. To induce the healing energy of rose quartz try meditating before using your gua sha stone and see the difference for yourself.

08.01.2022 PAINFUL PERIODS ARE NOT NORMAL If your period is heavy and painful it may be a sign that the processes in your body are not working properly. Often (at a young age) the contraceptive pill or an IUD is prescribed for many health complaints. Actually, this only masks the underlying problem or can often create new problems! It's not normal to experience pain or discomfort during your menstrual cycle! Need a little help? Consider acupuncture!... image: Erol Ahmed on Unsplash
