09.01.2022 In response to the current situation surrounding Covid-19, Altona City Theatre wishes to advise our auditionees that we must regrettably postpone our production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Our decision to postpone has not been easy, however, our priority at this time is to protect the health and wellbeing of the wider community. With growing concern and recent Government directives relating to social distancing and mass gatherings, we have arrived at this decision. In line wit...h the Australian Government’s ban on public gatherings over 100 people, this is the decision that had to be made. It’s also been made with the wider theatre community in mind with many productions that have already started rehearsing or very close to opening, having to postpone their productions till the end of the year. Altona City Theatre's committee has decided that instead of having so many productions hitting the stage in the last few months of the year, we can give them the opportunity to receive audiences, and continue to have the original production teams/casts involved. We have spoken to the rights holder and we are awaiting confirmation on availability in 2021. We will be keeping all prospective auditionees details on file, and will be contacting them later in the year when details are confirmed. Thank you for your ongoing support of Altona City Theatre, particularly through the challenging beginning to 2020. Please continue to support each other.
