24.01.2022 REGISTRATIONS REMINDER - 2021 SEASON Registrations are now open for players in the upcoming 2021 Back to Basketball Season. The 2021 Back to Basketball Season is a 6-week competition hosted by the Altona Basketball Association and Altona Sports Centre to ease players, coaches, and clubs back into the sport. ... It will run from the 3rd of February to the 22nd of March 2021. The regular 2021 Winter Season will commence after this. PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED PLAYERS: An email has been sent to all past players from the 2019/2020 season with information to register again. If you have not received the email, please check your Junk or Trash folder as the email may be located there. If you still have not received the email, please contact [email protected]. 20.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - BACK TO BASKETBALL - 12/02/2021 Hello Pirates, Not the news we were hoping to deliver, but please see the below update.... With the recent updates from the Victorian Government and DHHS in the last hour, all indoor sport has been suspended in Victoria for 5 days (until 11:59pm Wednesday 17th February). This includes ALL Back to Basketball (domestic) training and competition at both the Altona Sports Centre and Altona College, effectively immediately, for a period of 5 days. This also includes games that were scheduled today (Friday 12th February). Please follow our social pages for timely updates on this situation. We will share news as it comes through to us. 15.01.2022 PIRATES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - INVITATION The Pirates Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled to take place on the 18th of March. We are calling for any interested individuals to join the Committee of the Altona Pirates that will work collaboratively and guide the direction of the Club over the year calendar year of 2021 to 2022. ... Thursday, 18th March 2021 From 8:00pm Altona St John Hall, Altona Corner Civic Parade and Sugar Gum Drive, Altona (Entry at rear of the Altona Youth Club Hall) During the meeting, all Club positions will be up for nomination as below, for a period of 1 year: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Volunteer Registrar, Boys Registrar, Girls Registrar, Coaching Co-Ordinator, Website Coordinator, Uniform Co-Ordinator, Apparel Co-Ordinator, Media Co-Ordinator, Junior Domestic Committee Representative and General Committee Member. If you are interested to nominate for a position, please find the Nomination Form that is available to download from the club website - www.altonapirates.com.au - in the Admin > Files page (example form to the right-hand side). All nominations must be sent to the Club Secretary by 5:00pm on Friday 12th March 2021 by email, [email protected]. Guests are also welcomed to attend the AGM without nomination. The masks are a 3-Ply reusable/washable material and meet current DHHS requirements. 10.01.2022 CALLOUT FOR PLAYERS - U10 BOYS! JOIN THE PIRATES! Hi Pirates,... We still have player vacancies in our UNDER 10 BOYS teams (born 2012/2013)! This is fantastic opportunity for new and/or existing players to get back to sport - socialising, exercise, keeping fit and making new friends at the same time! Players will join teams in the current Back to Basketball season (February to mid-March) and/or Winter 2021 season (late March to September). Teams train for 1 hour per week either at the Altona Sports Centre (Stadium) or Altona College. Games are scheduled on Friday afternoons/evenings. 04.01.2022 BASKETBALL IS BACK - ALTONA SPORTS CENTRE UPDATE Hello Pirates, As many of you would be aware - the recent snap lockdown restrictions will be lifted from midnight tonight, and at the same time - basketball (and sport) will be back!... Training resumes for Thursday teams from tomorrow as usual. Games at the Altona Sports Centre also resume from Friday afternoon. Guidelines and entry conditions into the Altona Sports Centre still remain, so we ask for adherence to these when visiting the Centre. It's good to be back!
