A big thank you to Star Castles for the very popular jumping castle and to Altona Bowling Club for hosting our players and families Lawn Bowls afternoon. First up is a new committee member for 2020/21, Lily Riggs. Lily is our Women's Senior Match Secretary and helps administer teams for various competitions. She's also active with social tennis and ran the Women's 2020 Club Champs. Some fun facts about Lily:... 16.01.2022 A quick note from the club's Covid subcommittee... We're pleased to hear that tennis can resume in line with the easing of some Covid restrictions! We are waiting to hear from Tennis Victoria about any changed guidelines. ... The club is working closely with Vida Tennis and we're hopeful we will be able to re-open safely soon. We will keep you updated when we know more. Our updated protocols will be published on our website, shared here and emailed to all members. Thank you for your ongoing support and patience!

But a quick reminder that it is everyone's responsibility to help maintain the health, safety and security at the club please comply with these five simple requirements: Sign in every time before playing Complete all four fields in the sign-in registry No guests or players with expired memberships are allowed ... Singles only (doubles allowed for up to two households), and no gathering on the courts or within the club grounds Last players out must lock up all gates and clubhouse door. If you have any questions at all, drop us a DM!

13.01.2022 More good news as Altona Junior club member Oliver Hancin, with his partner Abhik Khatry today won the 12 & Under Boys doubles event at the 2021 Victorian Country Championships, 6-1, 0-6 10-7 against Ayaan Chowdhary and Xavier Gowland in the final.

12.01.2022 We know members are anxious to get back on the courts and we want to keep you updated - we have heard from Hobsons Bay City Council this morning and they are working with Tennis Victoria to clarify the updated Return to Tennis guidelines. This means the club and courts remain closed, but we are working hard to open safely, as soon as we get the green light to do so. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience!

11.01.2022 Some great news to report as Altona junior club member Oliver Hancin has been selected to train at the Tennis Australia National Academy at Melbourne Park. Oliver is currently ranked number 1 in Victoria for his age group and number 5 in Australia. We wish Oliver every success as he continues on his Tennis journey.

11.01.2022 The Boys 14 Singles final has just finished at the Altona Tennis Club Junior Championships. Congratulations to Tom Wilkinson who won his 3rd title after defeating our runner up Nicolas Lai Boninsegni 6-2 in today's final. Well done to both players and everyone who participated. Tomorrow will be the Girls 14 Singles, Boys 12 Singles and Mixed 10 Singles events at the club. Members, please note that court availability will be restricted between 11.00am and 3.00pm.

10.01.2022 The annual Altona Junior Club Championships are currently taking place at Altona Tennis Club. Pictured are the Girls 12 Singles participants. Congratulations to Natasha Lambrianidis who won the event and to Isabelle Valters who was the runner up. There are more events at the club this weekend. Court availablity for other club members will be affected. Tomorrow (Saturday 21st November), the club champs matches will be played from 10.00am on courts 3, 4, 5 & 6. Courts 7 & 8 wi...ll be available for other members. On Sunday (22nd November), the club champs matches will be played on courts 3 & 4 from 11.00am and courts 3, 4, 5 & 6 from 12 noon. Other members will be able to use courts 5-8 from 11.00am and courts 7 & 8 from 12 noon. Good luck to all of our junior players during the club championships.

10.01.2022 The Mixed 10 Singles was played today at Altona Tennis Club. All 3 players had never played a tournament match before and did a great job. Well done to Gabriel Odenore who won the event, to our runner up Harry Barker and to Mahati Punugupati who finished 3rd.

09.01.2022 *UPDATED POST* RESTRICTION UPDATE Hobsons Bay City Council has confirmed that some restrictions can ease at the club as outlined in Tennis Victoria’s updated guidelines ... Full details of our requirements are on the club website: http://www.altonatennisclub.org.au/return-tennis-protocols/ Important things to note: It remains mandatory for all players to sign in every time they play and to fully complete all fields in the registry Singles and doubles is permitted Maximum of 4 players per court 10 players across one bank of courts. Our club has two banks of courts one along Fresno Street and one along Bluegum Drive (please note that different limits apply for coaching, which will be managed by Vida) No guests or court hire during this period Maintain 1.5m distance at all times Members must continue to access the club via Fresno Street only No one who is not actively playing tennis is permitted on courts or within club premises (except staff) Clubhouse remains closed, except for toilets and to to access lights Am email has been sent to financial club members with a full update. 09.01.2022 Following her continued success at JDS Tournament level, we congratulate Vida player and Altona Junior member, Isabelle Valters, who has reached her first Australian National Ranking JT main draw final today at the 2021 FIFS Hume Tennis & Community Centre JT Bronze tournament. Unfortunately, the Girls 12 & final v Juliette Debrincat was abandoned due to rain with the score at 1-1 in the first set. Well done also to Altona Junior club member Natasha Lambrianidis, who reached the Girls 12 & Under consolation final. Unfortunately, this match was also abandoned.

He plays Grade 3 Victorian Pennant and is a former club champion. Some more fun facts about Carlin: ... His first tennis memory was learning to play as a toddler with his uncle John Trickey, who is a former professional tennis player who competed at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. 04.01.2022 Hi all. A quick update on the current state of the courts for members at Altona Tennis Club. Courts 3 & 4 are draining and may be ok in the next couple of hours. Courts 5 & 6 (pictured) are underwater. Courts 7 & 8 may be playable if members are prepared to use the rollers.

03.01.2022 Well done to to the club’s top UTR ladder players for 2020! Margaret Harris, who did a great job administering the ladders, congratulated top of the ladies ladder, Lisha Dhulipalla, and top of the men’s ladder Ben Ancheta. These two juniors are talented players and make a big contribution to the club too, with Lisha being on the club committee and Ben involved with coaching. ... This was the first club ladder competition we’ve run in years - it attracted a strong interest and many singles matches took place over the last few months. The ladder is free for all financial club members and new members are most welcome. Thank you to all participants and we’re looking forward to resuming in mid-January 2021!
