25.01.2022 Big oil leak and timing belt + water pump repair we started this afternoon. Renault Kangoo thermostat assy has an engine oil transfer/ heat exchange built in at the top. When it fails, in this cars case, you get oil in the cooling system and a big oil leak. Happy Friyay folks!

24.01.2022 2007 VE 6.0l Holden in for tailshaft centre bearing replacement today. Much longer rear shaft spline than the VX tailshaft we pulled apart last year.

22.01.2022 2012 Holden Cruze with just under 100,000kms back on its way after major Cooling System repairs Oil cooler, water pump, radiater hoses, reservoir, and a big Coolant flush to remove the Green stuff. New ignition coil pack to address an engine misfire that developed the day before the vehicles appointment, and a service too.

18.01.2022 A regular customer of ours was in this week with their Mazda BT50 for its last service before a long outback holiday! We installed their supplied diff breather kit, and supplied and fitted a Ryco pre Fuel filter water separator kit. Thermostat fault/ leak sorted too, safe travels in our wonderful outback!

09.01.2022 Ringo’s 2003 BA XR8 left the building today after we removed and had his 4speed Automatic Transmission rebuilt, and repaired a leaking power steering pressure switch. Thank you Craigs Automatic Transmissions, it’s shifting gears like new again.

09.01.2022 Hmm, now here’s a fun timing belt and water pump job. Pre loved?, Audi A4 Quattro Turbo. Seriously, so much silastic has been used to mask cooling system faults on this car, it’s beyond belief, check out the front of the block where the water pump was removed. The same treatment was given to the thermostat assembly etc etc etc. Do it right, or not at all! #Audi #TimingBelt #ALVAutomotive

04.01.2022 1971 Fairmont Wagon left the building ready for re-registration recently! We replaced, lower ball joints, radius arm bushes and sway bar links. We also bled the brakes and road tested this old girl! Such a pleasure to be apart of a almost 50 year old icon returning to the road!

03.01.2022 Another happy new customer! 2010 RC HOLDEN Colorado from Darwin in for service today, and a rattle that was thought to be related to a clutch replacement performed 50,000km’s ago. Here’s the handbrake cable issue/rattle we found!

03.01.2022 A loyal customer of ours had their 2011 4d56 diesel powered Mitsubishi Triton with over 343,000km’s towed to us after returning from a job in the City recently. The vehicle shuddered and then stopped close to home. It then cranked over, but would not restart. OBD Scan - revealed no fault codes Fuel sample taken from filter (see images) had us surprised, as the filter had been replaced less than 5,000kms ago, and was replaced every 20,000km’s.... Yes, we isolated the fuel system by purchasing clean diesel, replacing the filter and hooking up our own clean supply to the filter inlet, but still no change. We tested and cleaned the MAF Sensor, disconnected the battery and checked ECU Connections, Tested the Crank Angle Sensor and inspected the Timing Belt, checked the inlet manifold and egr that had been cleaned/de-carbed elsewhere recently, bench tested the Suction Control Valve, all OK, or so it seemed! Remember, no fault codes! Now, mixed advice exists about Suction Control Valves and the symptoms when they are faulty! Some say fluctuating rpm and poor fuel economy, some say they can cause a no start condition! Replacing the Suction Control Valve on the high pressure diesel pump immediately resolved the no start condition on this Triton. We have also started treating the algae with an additive for now! We checked in with our customer four days later, still going. With a high km engine, or high engine hours, this valve has worked extremely hard! Hope this helps! Much cheaper than Injectors or a diesel pressure pump! #DieselTriton #Notwhatitseems #4d56 #nostart #SuctionControlValve

02.01.2022 Nice finish to the day, C200 Mercedes in for service and an Audi A5 in for rear brakes and engine light. Audi also needs an EGR valve. Getting harder to get parts by the day. EGR valve for the Audi is ex Singerpore, and a 2018 model Hilux rear ABS sensor is atleast a month’s wait. We press on though

Turns out the turbocharger wastegate controls had failed, and the impeller wasn’t looking so flash either . Neither is Matt’s back now, fun job on this model! On its way now with a new complete Garret turbo.... Thanks to #ASVEuroCarParts, way way cheaper than Mercedes!
