23.01.2022 Moving from thinking to sensing is the key to triggering the bodies relaxation response. Try it now...for a few seconds simply become aware of the sounds around you. Focus intently on one particular sound that captures your interest and stay with it for as long as you like. At the same time consciously slow and deepen your breath. Do you mentally or physically feel any different? If you like how you feel, then remember to do this simple exercise several times during the day. ...This is what we were teaching last night. We had a great class in Armadale, the second night of a 5 week mindfulness meditation course. 22.01.2022 Today I intend to remain calm and peaceful at every moment throughout the whole day. This is my affirmation for today. This afternoon I am facilitating our second Mindfulness Workshop in Melbourne for 2014, this time at 314 Church Street, in Richmond. Registrations have been fantastic with 21 people coming along today to learn about mindfulness and meditation. It's really pleasing for me that so many people are interested and wanting to learn how to manage stress, anxiety and anger in their lives, with the easy self help tool of mindful-meditation. 15.01.2022 Thinking about Mindfulness and Meditation. Mindfulness is paying attention. What can we pay attention to? Well...our thoughts, feelings and actions. (ie. on our mental, emotional and physical levels) Meditation is a set of learned skills to make us relaxed and mentally calm. One of the most comfortable and enjoyable times to pay attention to what's occuring right now for us is when meditating. (ie. when creating a safe, relaxed and calm space within us). This is known as Mind...fulness meditation and is an empowering skill to learn and use in our daily lives. It allows us to notice when negative thoughts and emotions are creating unwanted stress and anxiety in us, and offers us the choice to do something positive to reduce their impact. Reducing negatives however is only one side of the well being coin, the other is to increase the positives which is another story for next time..... 08.01.2022 Spent a wonderful afternoon yesterday presenting the first Always Meditation: Mindfulness Workshop for 2014 in Blackburn. Thanks to everyone who attended the workshop and contributed to making it such a successful and rewarding experience for all. One great insight we learnt is that moving our attention from mind to body is an effective and fast way of lowering negative emotional arousal and establishing calm in our day-to-day activities.... In some instances this can be as easy as taking 3 long deep breaths.
