25.01.2022 Creating health is a journey, and every small increment in the right direction takes you closer and closer to a life of true wellness. I've seen many people undertake this journey, and noticed that the ones who make true lasting changes in their lives do it slowly and surely. It's not a race, and you don't have to get everything perfect all the time. I certainly don't! Just start with small steady things, like making sure that you start... to drink enough water each day, or adding in a daily serve of fresh greens to your food intake. These actions really are the things that make the biggest difference over time. You can do this! If you need an accountability buddy, or someone to guide you in the right direction, get in touch with me today. Ally xx See more

23.01.2022 IBS & FODMAPS Food is one of the major triggers for roughly 90% of people experiencing IBS. If you’ve tried removing things like spicy foods, caffeine, fried foods and alcohol but your IBS symptoms haven’t changed, it is worth looking into FODMAPS. ... They are a group of carbohydrates that are found in a really wide range of foods, Particularly many fruits and vegetables. In some IBS sufferers, FODMAPS are not properly digested in the small intestine. This means that they get to the large intestine Unabsorbed, and cause large amounts of bloating, gas and diarrhoea. In order to combat this, you need the support of a trained Naturopath or Nutritionist to navigate a low fodmap diet, and subsequent reintroduction of fodmap foods. It may sound complicated, but with the right support team you can navigate this with relative ease and achieve great outcomes. If you’re suspecting FODMAPS are an issue for you, I welcome you to book in for an obligation free chat with me to see if working together could help you. Ally

22.01.2022 It’s the season to create some Christmas craft and make sure your air con is working well! At least where we are. I’ve been enjoying a farely slow day with the girls, and they’ve been busy crafting up a storm amidst a blow up or two. #reallife

21.01.2022 Fatigue is a huge problem in our modern lives. Here’s a little cheat sheet to get you through! 1# Walk for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. Exercise gets your blood moving, and takes oxygen and nutrients around to all of your cells, increasing energy. 2# increase your water intake. Aim for 2 litres daily. Dehydration is a classic cause of fatigue, with a simple fix. ... 3# make sure you have green leafy veggies in your diet every day. They are fatigue fighters. Having a green smoothie is a great way to do this. 4# reduce your caffeine and stimulants. Your body uses up precious energy trying to process them. Stick to 1 caffeinated beverage a day if you’re fatigued.

20.01.2022 Practitioner quality supplements. As healthcare practitioners, we are here to serve you and give you the best quality care and natural medicines available. Practitioner supplements that we prescribe for you are NOT the same as what you can buy in the health food section of a pharmacy, health food store or supermarket. ... An example of this is turmeric. The practitioner form we can offer you has 600% more bioavailability, meaning your body can get 600% more goodness from this capsule, than one you buy off the shelf at your local chemist. The benefit doesn’t stop there. We can also be sure that our products are manufactured safely and also quality and purity tested. This doesn’t often happen with non practitioner brands. When you buy a product from your naturopath, we’ve carefully considered you, your needs, and the best options for you; and we’ve been extensively trained to do so. Patients first, always

18.01.2022 Do you find yourself feeling constantly bloated? Do you have to undo your top button by the afternoon? By evening time do you feel like you might look 6 months pregnant, even though your not? If you answered yes to any of these questions, these tips are for you: Try your best to avoid eating large portion sizes. When you overload your digestive system, everything gets stretched and becomes uncomfortable and bloated.... Chew your food, really really well. This is a very important step if you've been experiencing bloating and digestive discomfort. If you have large chunks of unchewed food in the stomach, this can actually be the cause of bloating for some people. Aim to chew each mouthful up to 20 times. Peppermint tea is wonderful to have after meals. It helps to relax your gut muscles and expel any trapped wind, which can ease your bloating. If your bloating is quite bad, you can use a heat pack on your stomach to relax the muscles and remove any gas as well. This can be really comforting, and works extra well when combined with a walk. Let me know how you go with these tips, and which one helped the most. Ally x See more

13.01.2022 IBS & Peppermint Peppermint oil has been extensively studied on IBS patients, and been show to have some very effective benefits. It helps by reducing stomach cramps, wind and pain, and may also reduce bloating and discomfort.... The best way to take it is in enteric coated capsules, such as the Mintec supplement. You'll find this at your local pharmacy. You can also try peppermint tea, which has some of the same benefits but works more on the stomach and higher up in the digestive tract. Give it a try and let me know how you go down below. Ally

12.01.2022 Eating well is a non negotiable component of life if you really want to be healthy. What goes in creates all of you: your skin, your immune system, your bones, your moods, your fertility, all of it. It is a lot easier to choose healthy options when you have some beautiful cookbooks to look through. Admittedly I may have a slight cookbook addiction, but they have fueled some absolutely amazing creations and a lot of wellness and good times. ... Here are some of my favourites that get regular workouts in my kitchen. I particularly love the healthy life cookbooks by Jessica Sepel, and the Wholesome Child book is amazing! What is your favourite cookbook? Ally xx See more

10.01.2022 Kids immunity might seem like a big topic, but there are some simple things we can do to really help our little ones thrive over winter. Here are my top simple tips: 1# keep up a steady supply of fresh fruit and veggies in their diet. Smoothies are a great way to get this in (My girls like their smoothies warmed up a little in winter) 2# cut back on processed snacks like crackers, biscuits and bars. Grains and added sugar can quickly derail a healthy immune system. ... 3# make their main or only drink water. Juices, cordials and soft drinks also deregulate a strong immune system due to their high concentration of sugars. Hydration with pure water is key. 4# make sure your kids are getting enough sleep. This goes for adults too! Sleep is vital for immunity and our overall health. Seek support in this area if you need it, it can be life changing. 5#consider a few key immune supporting supplements over winter. Echinacea, vitamin C, Zinc & probiotics can be beneficial here. If you’d like to learn more about this for your kids please get in touch with me. Do you have a favourite way of keeping your kids healthy over winter? Share in the comments with us. Ally xx

10.01.2022 Has this year made you think about things differently? For me, it’s really highlighted the issue most of us have around food security and sustainability. I’ve been working to ensure that my family always has a supply of food, no matter what is happening in the outside world. This looks like planting a veggie garden, nurturing fruit trees and bushes, learning the old arts of canning And pickling excess fruit and veg, pantry storage of dry goods, and water storage too. ... I’ve really only just started this journey, with a long way to go. It’s fun and rewarding, and I’m Looking forward to the continued learning and enjoyment it will bring. What have you implemented this year as a result of Ye old mate Corona?

04.01.2022 Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is not just a digestive condition. It is a disorder that occurs between the gut and the brain, and the communication between the two is out of whack. Due to the communication being awry, the digestive tract becomes overly sensitive to food, drinks, medications and other stimuli like stress and lack of sleep. This intimate link between the gut and the brain means that relaxation techniques are one of the key tools you can use to help combat you...r IBS symptoms. The easiest and also the most beneficial tool that you can use to induce relaxation is deep breathing. A round of 10 deep and full diaphragm/belly breathes twice a day will help to switch your nervous system into relaxation mode. This is exactly where it needs to be for stress based symptoms to reduce, and for healing to occur. Do you practice deep belly breathing? If not, now is the best time to start. Join me morning and night, and feel the benefits on your mind and body. Ally xx
