19.01.2022 To the respected members of our community, As salaam alaykum. As you are all aware, we are currently living in the midst of a global pandemic that has changed our way of life unlike any conditions previously experienced.... The COVID-19 virus has at the time of publication of this letter on the 2nd of April 2020, infected over 800 000 people worldwide resulting in over 40 000 deaths. It is the responsibility of each and every member of our community to help reduce the rate of infection and avert this disaster. Every member of every family, young or old, must share in this responsibility. The Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 was put into effect by Brad Hazzard MP on Monday the 30th of March, 2020. In it, it specifies that a gathering of more than 2 persons is permissible in certain situations such as a funeral service. However, the order clearly states that there are no more than 10 persons in attendance (including the person conducting the service.) Whilst the loss of a loved one is clearly a time for friends and family to unite and pray for forgiveness, it is with great difficulty that we stress that no more than 10 people attend any funeral given our legal obligations to our government, our religious obligations to our faith and our obligations to preserve the safety and health of humanity. We kindly ask that this law be strictly adhered to despite the difficulty and pain it may bring especially whilst dealing in a moment of grief and loss. Sincerely Al Zahra Funeral Services
