12.01.2022 Technology is changing the way people use transport, with app-based ride-sharing the norm and driverless buses on the horizon. However, researchers are concerned a move away from private cars and public transport could leave people living with dementia isolated and vulnerable. Researchers from The University of Queensland are recruiting people to help with a study exploring emerging transport technologies.
12.01.2022 Last week Ella’s House in Mandurah, had a visit from a couple of cuddly visitors. ‘Dudley’ the one week old lamb and ‘Mini’ the baby possum. We are very thankful for such an amazing bunch of members and their families who kindly share their cuddly friends with us.
12.01.2022 Ella’s House in Mandurah recently celebrated five years of supporting local families on their dementia journey with a garden party. Guests were welcomed with a speech by Ella’s House member Brett who summed up what the House means to him. I come here two days a week and it is an absolute blessing. We have the men’s shed, play golf, do art and quizzes, and most of the food we eat is grown fresh in our garden and cooked up by our famous chef Denise who is a volunteer, he said.... I can’t say enough about this place. I love it, I really do. It gives my wife a couple of days break from me I can be pretty high maintenance sometimes. I feel so blessed to be part of Ella’s House. Ella’s House Team Leader Shenae Gaudet thanked members and their families for attending the celebration. Without your humour, honesty, openness, kindness, generosity and love we wouldn’t have the amazing community we have here today, she said. Ella’s House is a day centre that supports people living with dementia in the Mandurah region. Services are available through the Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home Care Packages, National Disability Insurance Scheme or can be self-funded on a private basis.
