14.01.2022 Does it really matter? We all know that post work out we get an increase in hormonal levels such as testosterone and growth hormone. But do these anabolic hormones lead to pivotal changes in muscle hypertrophy??? A study done by 'West' in 2009 shows that acute hormonal response wasn't pivotal in muscle protein synthesis, West compared 2 groups, one with low hormonal responses and the other with high hormonal responses. The results showed that with increased hormonal levels particularly in growth hormone, insulin growth factor-1, and testosterone that there were no differences in muscle protein synthesis, hence wasn't a large contributor to hypertrophy.
