17.01.2022 Last week the Federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt, announced that the Australian vaccination rollout is expected to be complete in October 2021, ahead of its original December 2021 date. Hunt said Australia is on track and ahead of schedule in its vaccine approvals process. Australia will receive all three vaccines, all of which require two shots, spaced a few weeks apart:... Hunt said we want to urge as many Australians to be vaccinated as possible In order to do that, they have to have the confidence that our regulators are making sure that every safety step is taken, and we’re ticking all of those boxes, We expect that Australians will be fully vaccinated by the end of October, on the basis that it’s free, universal and entirely voluntary, According to a report by the Guardian, The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is expected to be rolled out from March and will go to health workers and those in aged care homes. AstraZeneca/Oxford University could be the second, as additional vaccine data has been submitted for analysis and should be complete by the end of February, followed by Novavax. Hunt said this vaccine, combined with the Pfizer and Novavax vaccines, should give great hope to Australians. I think it will be a good new year for Australians, and also a safe and healthy new year, he said What does this mean for travel? This news brings a fresh wave of optimism to the travel industry as, in theory, this should mean that with much of the world vaccinated against the virus, international borders should reopen safely from October. Although the vaccine is not compulsory, we expect that airlines will require some kind of health passport or vaccination certificate to fly, with the possibility that some countries will require travellers to have the vaccine to enter. There has already been talk of the Trans-Tasman bubble coming into fruition at the end of March, and rumours about South Pacific, Japan, Singapore and even Greece travel bubbles too. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens over the next few months, but international travel could well be on the cards by the middle of next year Christmas which is very, very exciting. It’s time to get planning because when it’s back, demand will be high and the joy of getting on a plane and exploring somewhere new will be more appreciated than ever. Here’s to 2021 and the return of international travel.

Few people realise that early in the twentieth century, Buenos Aires was one of the world’s great cities. It was known as the Paris of Latin America and people arrived in their thousands looking for a better life. Fuelled by the great agricultural wealth that came from the heartland of the nation, new buildings and monuments were the order of the day. The city’s residen...ts, known as Porteños, or people of the port were confident and brash and this attitude has carried forward to today making Buenos Aires one the best tourist destinations on the planet. WAs Tourism Minister Paul Papalia launched a staycation campaign late last week encouraging people to holiday in the state which has had no community transmission of COVID-19 for months and has been able to return almost to normal which is fair enough. Except, the WA government chose to partner with Expedia offshoot Wotif for the $500,000 campaign. ... At a time when local businesses particularly in tourism are on the verge of collapse, surely theres a better recipient of public money than a US-owned business that employs virtually no one in Australia and, until very recently, paid zero tax here. As Australia slowly returns to normal and people begin travelling again, we ask you to direct your travel expenditure through us or any of the other bricks and mortar travel agencies around the country. Like us, theyre small businesses who have been doing it tough these last 6 months. Thank you!

12.01.2022 Our latest blog has just gone live. Just as Mark Twain asserted in his book The Innocents Abroad, travel becomes an infallible elixir for the disease of bigotry. Through travel, I have been introduced to peoples complexities. It enabled self-reflection by forcing me to compare here and there. My worldview has shifted and Ive never been the same.... The very word travel encompasses history, culture, adventure, nature, food, drink, and leisure. It can be (and should be) much more than mindless escapism. Travel can be a remedy for biases conscious and unconscious. Yet many limiting beliefs about others are persistent even in those who are well-travelled. Simply leaving ones home is insufficient to dismantle prejudices. After all, not everyone travels with their eyes open and others pack their biases around with them.

08.01.2022 Our first Monday Memory for 2021 takes us back to 2016 and our amazing trip to the Polish cities of Warsaw and Krakow. Poland is a mix of old and new and our group got to visit ancient cities as well as those painstakingly restored from the rubble of World War II. Warsaw was once called the Paris of the North and over the past 70 years it has survived almost complete destruction in World War II, the stranglehold of the Soviet occupation and the upheaval of capitalism as we... know it today. Kraków is almost everybody’s favourite Polish city. This 1000-year old former capital is the only large urban area in the nation that escaped World War II without serious damage. The retreating Nazis wired the city so they could blow it up with dynamite but the Polish resistance cut the wires.
