10.01.2022 EIPH or Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage or bleeding is a term used to describe the presence of blood in the airways of the lung when a horse exercises. If this bleeding comes out the nose, the horse is classified as a "bleeder" and is banned from Australian racing for three months. If this happens a second time the horse is banned for life. It is estimated that 75% of racehorse bleed which effects their performance, although with many of those the bleeding does not show externally. It's a close call ....
