A 1997 graduate of Adelaide University, Van has been practicing in Western Australia and Canberra since earning her Bachelor of Dental Surgery. In 2004, she opened Gungahlin Marketplace Dental Surgery in Gungahlin Shopping Centre, then relocated to the Aldi building and renaming the practice Shine Dentists. A skillful dentist, Vans patients find her gentle, caring and trustworthy, building successful rapports with many people in our community. After graduating from The University of Queensland in 2016 with a Bachelor of Dental Science (honors), Vivienne has experience working in both the private and public sectors in dentistry. She is most interested in minimally invasive dentistry and the prevention of dental disease. She is also skilled in a range of dental treatments including crowns, fillings, extractions and root canals.... Helping patients overcome their fear of dentists is what Vivienne finds most fulfilling about dentistry. She finds enjoyment in assisting people in need and helping them feel confident about their smile. When shes not at the practice, Vivienne enjoys watching and playing basketball. She also considers herself a foodie and loves to try new cuisines.

15.01.2022 You may be thinking what are the stages of a root canal? Within teeth there is a chamber which houses the nerve and blood vessels, this is called the pulp chamber. The pulp chamber is what keeps the teeth alive and the reason why teeth can feel a little sensitive at times. If decay is left to progress deep into a tooth it can reach into the pulp chamber and play havoc with the nerves. When the decay breaches into the pulp chamber, the tooth becomes infected (if left for too... long this can cause abscess underneath the tooth). At this point it is no longer sufficient to do a filling to patch up the tooth, the affected nerves within the tooth need to be removed to resolve the toothache prior to filling the tooth.
