21.01.2022 Today we were blessed with sunshine as we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Club Lefroy. A lovely service was held in the garden, with a special visit from Bishop Kate Wilmot. A delicious cake was enjoyed by all, cut by VIP guest Margo alongside Club Coordinator Arlene. Margo was a Day Club Assistant in the original team when Club Lefroy opened, so it was a pleasure to invite her to do the honours.

15.01.2022 Margo was featured in our recent post about the 25th anniversary of Club Lefroy, as member of the original Lefroy team. Since her retirement 10 years ago, Margo has continued to volunteer her time at the Club and Care Centre playing the piano and doing sing-a-longs. On Thursday we learnt that Margo plans to retire for good, and we thank her for her service. We were lucky enough to capture a special, impromptu moment between Margo and Giuseppe, doing what they do best.

15.01.2022 Our Moline residents were very happy to receive letters from the Year 3 students at Harrisdale Primary School, full of poems, jokes and stories. They can't wait to write back to the students! Each year Harrisdale take part in a community project. This year the students were given the opportunity to practice their writing skills with letters to our residents, with the added excitement of knowing that their letters would brighten someone's day.

Stacey was nominated by a daughter of a resident for helping to keep their mum in touch with her family through the Keep Connected Program. Stacey was heavily involved with the implementation of Keep Connected at her site, connecting more than 90% of residents with their families and creating many joyous memories, including a 99 year old resident being able to virtually meet their newborn great grandson from Canada.... It involved day club clients crafting hot air balloons to hang from the ceiling. The hot air balloons were a wonderful conversation starter for clients who originated from other parts of the world. Jenny is well-known for her wonderful ideas, brilliant crafting activities and generous personality. Her bubbly nature is... loved by clients and staff alike. 11.01.2022 This is a sitar being played by Raj from St Georges Care Centre. A sitar is a plucked, stringed instrument, originating from the northern India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Raj was previously a sitar teacher, and has been keeping up his passion with 1:1 sessions with our music therapist Giuseppe. It's great to hear him play!

10.01.2022 On Friday we said farewell to Father Stuart with an afternoon tea to honour his ministry to Amana Living. Father Stuart has dedicated 35 years of service to Amana Living; first joining in 1985 in the role of Senior Chaplain, which he held for 20 years. After his first "retirement" 15 years ago, Father Stuart continued to dedicate two days of his time to volunteering as Chaplain Emeritus. We want to say another huge thank you to Father Stuart for the unforgettable contributio...n he has made to our residents, clients, families and staff during this time. God bless and best of luck with your official retirement. Thank you to Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy for joining us in this farewell.

02.01.2022 This is Lorna from St Georges Care Centre, and her grandson Ryan, who lives in London. Ryan wanted to share his truly heartwarming experience with Keep Connected: "Using Skype to connect with my nanna has been a great experience, living overseas it has been difficult at times to be able to feel connected. Using Skype has meant that I am able to engage, say I love you and provide small updates about how my life is. It has allowed the simple pleasure of being able to make my nanna smile and hear her laugh, while at times there can be challenges with nannas orientation, the ability to engage has outweighed any challenges we have encountered and it is always a highlight of the week and further continues to let nanna engage in the role of being a grandmother."
