21.01.2022 Some good stats on the Complementary Medicine (CM) world of Switzerland, who has embraced CM and implemented initiatives to promote its use. Whereas Australian health authorities maintain a culture of conservatism and resist evaluating the substantial potential benefits of the integration of CM in the healthcare system even though 70% of Australians use CM services and products.

21.01.2022 Intermittent Fasting (IF). It covers a broad class of interventions that alternate periods of eating and extended fasting. Fasting for at least 14 hours per day reduces body weight, improves glycemic control, lowers insulin and blood pressure. It is even reported to increase lifespan, even when food intake is matched to the control group. This study indicates the differences in eating times. When participants ate early or in the middle of the day only, cardiometabolic health ...benefited compared to eating later in the day. Worth a try? We all love a good dinner feast, but perhaps isolation times allow us to be more flexible with our meal hours to create a healthier habit for longevity.

11.01.2022 This 7000 patient study assessed patient improvement using validated quality of life scales over six and 12 months. Rather than look at specific interventions, they compared the results of a Functional Medicine approach with a conventional approach. At both six and 12 months, improvements in the patients treated with Functional Medicine were significantly larger than those in patients treated with conventional medicine, what a great outcome!
