19.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for working with us in the changes we have made since reopening on Monday. As a reminder to maintain the strict numbers of people allowed in our practice at one time only patients will be able to attend appointments. If a parent does not feel that a child would be comfortable in attending an appointment by themselves please contact reception so that we can reschedule the appointment for when current restrictions have eased for a time when we accommodat...e an extra person. For some procedures we have altered the way we provide information to parents, reception will provide further information to parents with these appointments scheduled. If you have any questions regarding this please contact reception. For further information on our procedures to keep everyone safe from COVID within our Practice please refer to previous posts. We appreciate your understanding as we work hard to keep all our team and patients safe whilst at our Practice. Amanda and the team at Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics

18.01.2022 Following the Premiers announcement yesterday, regarding the return of stage 3 lockdown for Metropolitan Melbourne, we have had many concerned patients contacting us to see if we will be closing when the restrictions start. We ourselves have been eagerly awaiting guidance from the Australian Dental Association knowing that we do need to provide our patients with scheduled appointments as much notice as possible of any cancellations. We have just received advice that the Aus...tralian Dental Association is still in meetings with the Health Department so we will not have any direction until tonight. We realize that by the time we receive the direction to close or stay open it will be too late to contact patients with appointments scheduled for tomorrow. Therefore we have decided to follow the wording of the Premier in his announcement until we receive further direction. So as a business who was closed under stage 3 restrictions previously we will close for Thursday 9th and Friday the 10th of July. Due to the late hour of the day we are sending a text message to all patients with appointments scheduled on these days. We do apologize that we will not be able to contact everyone personally. We will update our Facebook page and website www.amandalawrence.com.au as soon as we have guidance from the Australian Dental Association as to the effect of this lockdown on our practice. So please keep checking these sites. For the the patients who did have appointments tomorrow and Friday, if we are allowed to stay open we will be contacting you to reschedule these appointments as soon as possible. to ensure we can do this we will be opening up extra days to accommodate these appointments. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.

17.01.2022 PLEASE TREAT OUR STAFF WITH RESPECT they are working in difficult circumstances and following Government guidelines. Whilst having parents attend patient’s appointments would be more convenient for us all, we are limited in the number of people we can have in our waiting room and clinics due to COVID restrictions. We operate differently to Dentists, Doctors and other practitioners. Please don’t be offended when we have to implement the recommended restrictions. We want to sta...y open and provide a safe environment for our patients and staff. To provide information about your child’s treatment we have set up systems to assist: 1) Your child can call you from the appointment and put their phone on speaker so that you can communicate throughout the appointment. 2) You can send a note with your child or an email and we will respond 3) We have set up videos on our website under resources with lots of information about appliances and oral hygiene. 4) With patients who are on review, we send a written note for parents, given out at the time of the appointment 5) If your child requires a carer present due to medical needs please discuss with reception in advance to schedule appropriately. Thank you and Stay Well - Amanda

16.01.2022 We understand the frustration that many are feeling about us being unable to see patients currently for orthodontic care. Please remember that the decision for this is mandated by the government due to the current health crisis. We have included the most recent advice that we have received regarding this below. Please be reassurred that as soon as we know when we can reopen and in what capacity we will be contacting patients to reschedule appointments that have been cancelled... due to lockdown. These appointments will be scheduled in order of cancellation and initially we will only be scheduling the patients who are currently in treatment whilst we catch up on the treatment they have missed. As you can imagine this will be a very busy process as many appointments will need to be rescheduled, so please be patient, we will be contacting you. As we will have as many staff calling patients to reschedule as telephone lines available it would be great to be able to catch you when we call. If we miss you it will be hard to call us back but don't worry we will try again later. If you have any questions regarding individual treatment please email [email protected] but please be mindful that we only have someone checking emails remotely so we have limited access to files etc. Therefore some emails may be best responded to once we reopen.

16.01.2022 As a result of todays Government imposed lockdowns that come into effect tonight, the practice will be closed until Thursday the 18th February. We understand that many patients had appointments scheduled that will now be cancelled. We will contact each of these patients as soon as we know when we can reschedule these appointments. WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED ASSISTANCE? Advice from the Australian Dental Association confirms that at this point of time the government has only indic...ated that dentists in public health care centres can perform emergency treatment. The ADA is advocating the need for private practitioners like Amanda to also be able to provide emergency care over this time. This means that at this point in time Amanda is not considered as an essential health care provider. As the situation is evolving things may change but in the meantime if you are having an issue we can still offer a lot of assistance: 1) refer to the information and appliance instructions we provided you with at the time we delivered your appliance/s 2) our website has a lot of information that we have added to over the previous lockdowns. There are 2 tabs in particular that will help with emergencies or issues; The Urgent Orthodontic Care tab - for information on how to fix issues by appliance type. The Resources Tab - the play button which opens up heaps of videos that will show you how to fix common problems. 3) If you have tried option 1 and 2 email [email protected] and we can send you some further advice, please mark the email Emergency. OUR PRACTICE WILL NOT BE OPEN AND OUR TELEPHONE NOT MANNED SO PLEASE CALL WHEN WE RETURN Please stay healthy and safe - Amanda and the team See more

13.01.2022 Happy New Year! We are looking forward to welcoming all our patients back once we reopen next week. In the meantime the team at Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics has been doing some training. We will look forward to being able to introduce some new and exciting services to our patients in 2021.

13.01.2022 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the team at Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics.

11.01.2022 The ADA has advised that although overall community transmission remains low, there is now growing concern of an increased risk of an asymptomatic patient attending a dental appointment. As such we have decided to stay closed for the rest of this week to enable correct identification of people who have a high risk of COVID transmission. Over this period of time we will be doing some modifications to the Practice which will enable us to reopen next week for limited procedure...s with a temperature checking station at our Thomas st entrance. When we reopen on Tuesday the 21st of July, 2020 there will be additional procedures in place for all patients and visitors to the practice. PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT We will continue to send you an email that you will be required to read and respond to to avoid the cancellation of your appointment. AT YOUR APPOINTMENT Our Practice doors will be locked. Patients will only be admitted to the practice at the time of their scheduled appointment. As patients arrive for their appointment they will need to knock on our front door (Thomas st Entrance) a staff member will open the door, check the patient in, take their temperature and complete a health screen before the patient can move through to the waiting room or clinic for their appointment. Following the patients appointment the patient will leave from the door facing Deakin st North (the door at reception). Patients only will be allowed to enter, parents can wait for their child on chairs set up on the front verandah or in their car. The email we send you prior to your appointment provides a phone number to text if you arrive early to your appointment. Our reception and telephones will be manned from 8.30 - 5.30 tomorrow for emergencies and the rescheduling of appointments so please keep your mobiles handy. We will provide further updates as they become available or if any changes occur. As this is a rapidly changing time we are trying to keep our lines of communication as open as possible so please let us know if you need to update your email or telephone numbers. Keep safe and healthy, Amanda and the Team at Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics

09.01.2022 TO HELP WITH QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE INTRODUCING OUR NEW VIDEO LIBRARY! We have just added a video library to our website www.amandalawrence.com.au It can be found in our resource centre and although it has been developed to assist patients through this time it will be a valuable resource for patients wanting to know information about their appliances and treatment. It can be found under the resource tab. ... HOW WILL WE BE RESCHEDULING OUR APPOINTMENTS? Once we have received the directive to reopen from the ADA we will be able to organise the rescheduling of appointments that have been cancelled due to the lockdown. First priority will be given to patients who are in treatment as we catch up on the appointments they have missed. Patients will be contacted in the order of their appointment been cancelled. We will update our Facebook page and website as soon as we have further information about reopening or anything else. But if you could keep your phones nearby when we are rescheduling appointments it would be great as we will have the full admin team calling patients so the lines will be busy. Hopefully we'll be seeing you soon, in the meantime keep safe. We will as always update our Facebook site and webpage as soon as we have any further information as to when we are opening.

08.01.2022 We have received the news today that we will be able to reopen on September the 28th! We want to reassure everyone that we are already working on setting up new schedules to get all patients in treatment caught up on the treatment they have missed, whilst still maintaining a safe environment for all staff and patients. Amanda will be opening extra sessions to assist with this. ... Initially we will be focussing on seeing patients who are currently in active treatment and also those who are requiring emergency treatment. We will then be opening up our schedule to other appointment types until we can get back to a normal schedule. Patients will be scheduled in order of the date of their cancelled appointment. Please understand that the setting up of these schedules and rescheduling of these appointments is a very big task and we do want to be fair to all our patients. So please be patient with us we will be contacting everyone but it will take some time. There will be a lot of restrictions that will need to be continued to be followed in order for us to open safely such as only the patients will be allowed to attend appointments. But we will be able to advise you on all of these at a later stage. Looking forward to seeing all of our patients again soon.

07.01.2022 It looks like numbers are on target and we can reopen on Monday. We have opened extra sessions and have a very different schedule that will help us to get back on track with patients treatment as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and if you have not yet been contacted to reschedule your appointment don't worry we will call you. We are opening under the same restrictions we were working under when we closed. This is to ensure we protect the health and safety of our... patients and staff and also meet the requirements of social distancing, occupational health and safety etc. As a reminder: * ONLY PATIENTS CAN ATTEND APPOINTMENTS unfortunately our waiting room and clinics are small so we are limited in how many people we can have in these areas at one time. * PLEASE BE ON TIME if patients arrive early they will not be able to enter the practice unless there is room available for them due to our restrictions on numbers. Please text 0460 005 001 from your mobile and state your name and we will contact you if we can see you earlier. Stay nearby. *PATIENTS WILL BE SCREENED AND HAVE THEIR TEMPERATURE CHECKED PRIOR TO ENTRY At their appointment time patients will arrive at the front door (facing Thomas St) and ring the doorbell and await a staff member. * All patients who have had their appointments rescheduled are asked to review the email about the Important Information for Patients and Visitors to Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics that was sent to them at the time of booking their original appointment. See you all soon. See more

07.01.2022 With the extension of the Melbourne lockdown, Dentistry has still not been provided with a date of when it can return to resuming the treatment of patients for procedures other than emergency procedures. At the moment the ADA and the ASO are in communication with the government to try to work out ways to enable us to reopen as soon as possible. We will update you as soon as we have any further information.... Please be reassured that, as soon as we can reopen and we know in what capacity, we will be working hard to initially catch up on the appointments that patients in treatment have missed. We have systems set up and all staff ready to go. Just keep that phone nearby so we can get you in quickly. Until then we will continue to work in the same way as we have been throughout the lockdown.

05.01.2022 Don't forget to wear your masks to your appointments.

03.01.2022 CHANGES, CHANGES, CHANGES........ From Monday we will be open again to patients but we have made some changes to further protect our team, patients and visitors to our practice. The safety of our team and patients is our greatest priority so we do ask for your understanding in assisting us to keep everyone safe. Patients only will be permitted to enter the Practice for an appointment, if a parent has questions they can email these or send a note with the patient. If a patient... does require a parent to attend an appointment with them then we do ask that the parent contact reception to reschedule the appointment for a later date when we can accommodate an extra person in the practice. Patients will now enter the Practice through the Front Door on the veranda facing Thomas st. Patients will exit the door at reception. If patients arrive early for an appointment they will need to follow the instructions on the information sheet that was emailed to them. At the scheduled appointment time patients will ring the doorbell at the front door. Their parent can wait with them whilst they are screened and temperature checked. Following successful screening the patient will be welcomed into the practice for their appointment. The parent is welcome to wait for their child on the veranda, at the reception exit area or in their car, whilst being mindful of keeping a distance from other parents waiting for their children. Following their appointment the patient will leave by the reception door. The reception team will contact the telephone number on file with a follow up appointment time, if this appointment does not suit please call and reschedule. Thank you for your understanding. Amanda and the team at Amanda Lawrence Orthodontics

02.01.2022 Update re Stage 4 restrictions. Late last night we received the following advice from the Australian Dental Association. We will provide further updates today as we organise the changes this will bring to our Practice over the Stage 4 restrictions. 'The ADAVB met with DHHS and DHSV today to update on the current situation in Victoria. This follows ongoing consultations with the Chief Health Officer and Health Minister since the Victorian Government's State of Disaster announ...cement on Sunday. Under the new government restrictions across Victoria, dental services will continue to operate, and people will be allowed to visit the dentist for necessary dental care, including if their dentist is more than 5km away. We have been working closely with the ADA Infection Control Committee to review and revise the dental restrictions guidelines, taking into account new evidence that is constantly emerging. The ADAVB has provided the following recommendations today to help dental practices undertake risk assessments: Metropolitan Melbourne - Level 3 dental restrictions from Friday 7 August 2020. Please refer to link below for further detail. Regional Victoria - Level 2 dental restrictions from Friday 7 August 2020. Please refer to link below for information about active cases in your area. We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves and will communicate this as soon as possible. We understand the current situation has created significant concern and uncertainty we are all in this together and we will get through it together. More detail about recommendations: https://adavb.org//covid-19-update-to-dental-restrictions- See more

It will be vital that we can keep our telephone lines open this week to call patients so if you have any questions that are not answered below please email them to [email protected] Please do not send emails to other addresses you may have received information from as these do not go to... our reception team. SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS We are currently scheduling apointments for patients in active treatment, once we have completed this we will be contacting our other patients and scheduling their appointments. Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime if your next appointment is a pretreatment review and you have any concerns please send an email and photos to [email protected] Entry to the practice is by appointment only due to strict social distancing requirements limiting the number of people allowed in the building. IF YOU NEED TO PICK SOMETHING UP EG WAX OR ELASTICS Please email us to let us know what you need on [email protected] . PROCEDURES FOR ATTENDING APPOINTMENTS Please see our previous post regarding procedures for attending appointments. Once again thank you for your understanding and see you soon.

01.01.2022 We have received the following update from the Australian Dental Association this morning ' The Victorian Government has released new information overnight regarding their new workplace restrictions. For the purposes of the Restricted Activity Directions (Restricted Area) (No 6), effective as at 5 August 2020 from 11.59pm, all public and private health services including dentists are permitted workplaces but only for urgent care in metropolitan Melbourne. Therefore, all denta...l practices in metropolitan Melbourne are able to operate as a permitted workplace but must only provide urgent care. These directives are issued in accordance with emergency powers arising from declared state of emergency pursuant to the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic).' This means that we can now only see patients for urgent dental care eg emergencies causing pain or resulting from trauma that can not be managed at home by the information provided initially with appliance instructions or by information available on our website www.amandalawrence.com.au. Videos will be available on our website soon to further assist patients with this information. The ADA has advised that patients must be triaged and screened to assess the need to be seen as an emergency. This will be done by Amanda either by email or phone before consideration for any emergency appointments. To organise this please email us with photographs to [email protected] If you require elastics or wax please contact us by email and we will organise for these to be sent to you. Please let us know what type of elastics are used. We will have someone remotely watching our emails throughout this period but please be mindful that we will be unable to have access to full records so we will only be able to answer limited administrative questions. The Australian Society of Orthodontists has advised us that hopefully we may only have a 4 week delay until we can see our patients in active treatment. We will be in contact to schedule appointments as soon as we are have more information. OUR ROOMS ARE NOW CLOSED AND OUR PHONES ARE NOT MANNED. But we are wanting to assure all our patients and families that we will respond to emails as soon as possible and our thoughts are with everyone. Stay Safe!
