23.01.2022 How good is the solar power industry’s conscience? It will be interesting to see if the market will vote with its wallet or continue to accept these issues as ‘out of sight, out of mind’. We have hope for an industry that was partially founded on socially responsible, green ideals. Ensure you choose an approved CEC Solar Retailer, such as Amanda Energy, when selecting a business to install your solar system.

20.01.2022 The new standards will apply to inverters equipment that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) in order for electrical devices to function. They will ensure that household energy systems won’t ‘trip’ or disconnect when there are voltage disturbances on the network. The change is forward looking rather than retrospective, and so will apply only to new and upgraded systems rather than existing ones. It applies to all jurisdictions in the national electricity market and will take effect from December 2021. Many manufacturers have already begun to upgrade their systems after similar changes were introduced in South Australian in late 2020.

04.01.2022 Client spotlight: Allegro Pizza Allegro Pizza is somewhat of a local Claremont institution. For over 20 years this family owned restaurant led by Didier has been welcoming people with warm and generous service...and the best seafood pizza in Claremont (not to mention fresh bread and other homemade delicacies). Allegro Pizza's restaurant and catering division together were using large amounts of refrigeration resulting in high electricity consumption. Didier was keen to inves...tigate solar as a way to reduce electricity consumption from the grid, and as a long time customer, turned to Amanda Energy for help. The restaurant site offered some tricky constraints for solar due to limited roof space and shading issues. Designing the right solution for every business is what we do - an Amanda business energy expert analysed energy consumption data and worked with the site constraints to design (and install) solar panels and inverters to optimise solar production by maximising the available roof space and avoiding shading issues. Allegro Pizza's fully optimised 27.5kW solar PV system has significantly reduced electricity consumption saving the business thousands of dollars per year. https://amandaenergy.com.au/case-study/allegro-pizza/

02.01.2022 Solar Safety - Australia lags behind the US and other countries, where conventional DC solar systems are no longer installed due to safety concerns. Despite increasing international momentum in the adoption of stricter solar system safety standards, the Australian Standards are yet to be changed. Are you considering a solar system purchase? It is critical that you request safe solar equipment that incorporates internationally recognised rapid shutdown technology as well as a microinverter or DC-optimiser based system architecture.
